Masuk-ADELAIDE-**
My eyes opened, landing on the chandelier above me. I realized I was in a different room. As I attempted to sit up, I heard his voice from across the room. “Stay still. I've called for your maid. Wait there until she returns,” Kaius said. I could hear a low growl from him. I tilted my head from the bed and saw blood dripping from his shoulders. Alarmed, I sprang to my feet and rushed toward him, but I barely got close before an invisible force pushed me back to the bed. It was his doing. “You don't seem to listen, do you? I just gave you an instruction, and you ignored it. This is why Rey attacked you,” he said as he cleaned the blood with a tissue. After wrapping his wounds with a bandage, he stood up. He was walking! Walking freely! Around me? Wait. What else was I thinking? He shouldn't walk? Tsk. Wait. Rey? He stopped in front of me. “You lured Rey here. I now understand what she's after. You. She's after you and any other Luna who steps into this territory,” he explained, his expression emotionless. “W-why me?” I asked, my voice trembling. “What do you think? I'm the Alpha King that Rey despises, and do you think she's going to spare any of my associates? Hell no!” Kaius exclaimed. Fear gripped me. I didn’t want to die here! “W-what should I do? I’ll leave as soon as possible. I will agree not to be your Luna,” I quickly said. His laughter echoed with a voidness that left me questioning why. “It’s too late. You lost that chance when you had it. You’re stuck here because this is what you wanted. You asked for this,” he smirked. “Why did you save me then? You should have let her kill me! Now, I have no idea when she will attack again,” I lamented. He scoffed, letting his eyebrow do a talking as well. “Don’t think I saved you because I have any kind of affection for you. No. I saved you because I want Rey to keep coming. So, while you stay here under my watch… Rey will continue to attack you,” he muttered. I raised my eyebrows, trying to understand what he meant. “Are you using me as bait?” I asked, realizing the implication. “More like that. Or… how would you like to pay for witnessing me in this state? You’ve seen me walking, which is a first. No one has seen it after so many years of hiding it,” he remarked. Oh. Now I understood. “Or… do you want me to behead you? Of course not! I wouldn’t want that either… I mean, I can make you useful to me, even if it means putting your life at risk,” Kaius clarified. His tone was stoic and dangerous. I'm good as dead. Adelaide! You're so doomed! Then, I noticed a full force making his wheelchair appear. “TIME FOR A SHOW,” I heard him say and he sat on the wheelchair as usual. Then, a knock came in. “Walk in, Paula,” Kaius instructed and Paula walked in. Oh. No wonder he was on his wheelchair, he must have heard Paula scent coming. “Greetings, Alpha King,” Paula greeted. “The Luna shall stay in this shelter from now on henceforth. If anyone takes her out of her to another place, there's a heavy punishment for such person.” Kauis told her and instantly she nod. “Understood Your majesty,” Paula said and with that Kauis wheeled out himself. Just as soon as he stepped out, Paula came running to me. “I searched everywhere for you! I almost got killed for leaving you alone! “ She lamented, I can feel the fear in her tone. I sighed. “I’m fine now, I think that's what matters.” I simply told her and she breathed out. Then, she pulled out a wooden letter covered with a purple design, “Here. The queen mother gave you a request-as the new Luna.” I raised an eyebrow…Request? Grabbing the wooden letter from her, I read it out loud. “ASSIGNMENT: Make the Alpha King sit at dinner tonight,” I scoffed dropping the letter. “Why should it be me? Why am I the one making him to?” I questioned with disbelieve. “It's because the Alpha King has never stepped into the dinning seat ever since the last Luna died, anyone who dares to bring him there will face a severe punishment,” Paula explained which makes me scoff even more. “Then what? I'm the one that will change his mind? After everyone has tried? Of course not! He hates me as it is- I-i can't do it, I love my life..” I rejected, sprang up on my feet and was about heading out when Paula ran close and fall to her knees. I heard her sob. Huh? Why is she crying? I clutch to her level, “Get up Paula! What are you doing?” I exclaimed quite shocked by her behavior. “The queen mother had said if you don't do as she has requested, I will be given 100 strokes of the wooden rod on my buttocks,” She said, “Please your majesty, have mercy,” Paula pleaded leaving me speechless. Oh, poor me! Adelaide! Are you only meant for difficult task? ———FEW HOURS LATER—— I can't believe I'm standing at the door of Alpha Kauis. Whatever happens…I have to make sure he accepts. All cost. I knock. “Greetings your majesty,” I said to the door, one thing for sure is that he can hear me clean and clear. He has a good sensitive listening ear. I knocked once again, “Why isn’t he responding?” I mumbled under my breathe and for a minute I paced to and fro. Later, I breathed out about to take the risk of opening the door and I did. If I perish, I perish. I opened the door and walked in. “Wow” that was what escaped my mouth upon entering his room. Beautiful was an understatement. “Who let you in?” His husky voice said behind me, it sends shiver down to my spine. I barely turned to look at him when I suddenly felt him behind me. I could feel his mouth on my torso, my sense could tell me he wasn’t putting any clothes except his underwear. “You keep crossing the line. You seriously want death, isn’t it?” I heard him say. “I-No-“ He shut me up with a strangle on my neck. What? Wasn’t he behind me just now? How is he at my front now! “You feel the mate bond, don’t you? Magnus has been eating me up! You want to mate, don’t you?” He mumbled, his voice getting thicker. Soon, I felt his face on my lips. “Magnus wants to taste you, badly.” “I-“ Before I could finish a sentence. I felt it. What felt like his lips on mine. W-what?Chapter 138The End of a WitchKaius’ POV******The whole pack gathered the next day, all waiting to see the execution of the witch.By noon, the courtyard was filled with men, women and children.I stood at the tall platform above them, looking down. From here, I could see everything.Behind me, the guards stood in line silently waiting for my order. Then, from the far end of the courtyard, they brought her out, chains wrapped around her wrists. Her hair fell around her shoulders as she walked out slowly, not even trying, like she already knew how this would end.The crowd grew louder and murmurs spread like fire. But immediately she got closer, they started retreating, afraid of what she might pull out. She was a witch after all.I stepped forward and immediately the noise died down. All eyes turned to me.“This…” I began, my voice raising, “…is the witch that has haunted our pack.”The crowd reacted immediately with murmurs and anger.“She is the one who brought pain,” I continu
Chapter 137 What Broke Me Kaius’ POV My eyes were burning and I didn’t even know when the tears came, but they were there. Hot and heavy. Blurring everything in front of me. Still, I didn’t look away. I kept my eyes on her. Rey. She was right in front of me, staring into space. My jaw tightened and my chest felt too tight, like something inside me was breaking. Of course, it was. I couldn't deny the fact that she had taken away everything I thought I knew and I couldn't protect them. “You..” I muttered, my voice low and shaking as memories flooded my head. That night, Paula had come running and had told me Adelaide was gone for a week. That was the moment everything started falling apart. I didn’t even think twice that night, I went somewhere I always avoided, because I hated remembering how I failed to protect her. I went to Raine’s chamber. I had left my cloak there the night before and I wanted to pick it up. My steps had been slow that night, like I already
Chapter 136My Mother Killed MeRey's POV Everything looked different. The wind had been strong, moving through the trees like something was whispering, the moon high in the sky. Before me was Raine. She was wearing a white dress, her hair was loose, falling around her shoulders. Her eyes were wide as she stared at me, fear was written all over her face.To get my revenge on the pack for betraying me, I vowed to attack the Alpha's lineage.Raine was Kaius' wife at the time and she was standing before me and I was wearing a deadly smirk on my face.“Please..” she said, her voice shaking.I remembered that voice, how gentle it had been, but she was the Luna after all.“I didn’t do anything to you,” she said again, taking a small step back, but my expression didn’t change. My hands stayed at my sides as I moved closer to her, my eyes darkening. “The alpha took something from me and I'm here to return the favor.” I said slowly.Raine shook her head quickly. “No. Kaius is innocent. Please
Chapter 135A Memory That Refused to Stay BuriedRey’s POVI tried to open my eyes, but it felt like something was holding me down, as though my body was not mine anymore.“W-what’s happening to me…?” I muttered, my voice sounding far away, even to my own ears.It felt like I was trapped somewhere dark and I wasn't fully asleep, just stuck. What did Kaius do to me? Is this some kind of spell? I muttered, but the words didn't leave my mouth.Suddenly, a sharp pain hit my head and I gasped. My whole body shook as pain over powered me, it felt like something was breaking inside me.“No… no…” I whispered, trying to move, trying to sit up, but I couldn’t.I could feel my power from within, but it looked like it was far from reach. Damn! What's going on with me? What happened to me? I thought, trying to move my body, but I couldn't.I tried to cast a spell. My lips moved slowly, forcing the words out. “Velora sineh varu, break what binds me, release my soul…”My power bounced back, causing
Chapter 134What Have I DoneKaius’ POVPaula hesitated, then she whispered it.“My lady is carrying the Alpha's heir..”Immediately she said it, everything stopped and for a second, I thought I heard wrong, then I stood up quickly and I walked toward them.“What did you say?” I asked, looking at the both of them. They both turned and Paula froze immediately. Her eyes widened when she saw me standing there, like she wasn’t expecting me to be there.I stepped closer, my chest rising and falling faster than ever. “What did you say?” I asked again, louder this time.“She was pregnant?” I asked, staring straight at her.Paula stared at me, shaking like her lips were sealed. “Answer me!!” I yelled. My voice echoed through the corridor and she flinched. Her lips trembled, then she nodded slowly.“Yes..” she said weakly. “She, she was pregnant..”The words hit me heavy and I staggered back immediately. My steps lost balance and my hand reached for the wall to hold myself steady and hot tears
Chapter 133Too Late to Turn BackKaius’ POVI stayed there on the floor, alone with my thoughts, unable to run from them anymore, because no matter how far I tried to push everything away, it'd come back.I moved from the floor and went over to the table, tapping my fingers on it.The sound of it filled the room, over and over again, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. It was the only thing keeping me from losing my mind completely. It was quiet outside now, I had instructed the guards not to allow anyone in and not allow anyone walk casually.I didn’t want to see anyone and I didn’t want to hear anyone, because I already knew what they would say.I clenched my jaw and leaned back in the chair, staring at the table in front of me. The wood had lines across it and old marks. I focused on them, trying to think about anything else, but my mind didn’t listen and it kept going back to Adelaide. I wanted to shift a bit, so I wouldn't go crazy, but it wasn't working. I kept seeing her any
