Chapter twenty-one

Visibly recovering from the comeback, Claire snarled, “Why, you---”

Roy’s courage abruptly deserted him at the sight of murderous age on Claire’s face. He hurried toward the elevators, knowing that he had just made an enemy for life.

Oh, crap.

This was not what he had imagined today would bring at all.

He wished Kristine had come back from Scottsdale so he’d take comfort from her presence. His frustration grew when he realized that he didn’t even have her number.

Over six hours later, Roy was already counting the minutes before he could leave for home and hand in his resignation letter.

It was official.

He couldn't work for Anderson Inc. any longer. If near poverty hadn’t made Roy the sensible type, then he would have just upped and left without looking back the moment Claire had declared war on him, sneering at Roy for everyone to hear every chance she got.

But Roy was the sensible type and his mind told him it would be foolish to give up his daily wages just to save his pride.
