KOOKIE:

Today, I am supposed to be out there checking out dresses for my wedding, but I haven’t felt like the luckiest bride in the past twenty-four hours. I am not saying Levi is having an affair because that might sound ridiculous, but is it really out of the picture?

The least he could do is open up to me, but he won’t. There are tiny voices in my head blaming me for opening myself up to the man. The guilt burns hard in my chest, and I want it to leave, but truly, I sound like the most foolish woman to walk this earth.

I go about my routine this morning earlier than usual. By the time I am done, Levi is just getting out of bed. I return his brief kiss before I set out. My heart hammers in my chest as I question myself to know if I am about to make the right choice. As my car pulls up at the hotel Elias is staying in, I feel my pulse hammering harder. Once my car stops, I spot him coming out of the building.

“Kookie,” he calls out joyfully.

He gets into the car, shutting the door. T

  • THE ALPHA WANTS ME BACK   CALL IT OFF

LEVI:The last thing I would expect is for my fiancée to be at a restaurant with her ex. There is a subtle ache in my heart, but I act like I am okay, because I shouldn’t show my weakness, right?“Do you even care to give an explanation about this, Kookie?” I ask, and she remains mute, staring at the pictures between us.I know she has always loved Elias, but she loves me too, and I do not know why I believed she loved me more. Fuck, I sound crazy like a teenage boy, fighting over whom their crush loves best. But she is my mate, and he shouldn’t have her. She is mine.“I…” she begins, her voice cracking.Tears shimmer in her eyes.“No, no. Do not do that, Kookie. I should be the one angry!” My tone goes an octave higher, and her eyes meet mine straight on. Tears fall from them.My hand rakes through my hair, and a scoff leaves my mouth. It is unbelievable that she is trying to cry while I am the one at the receiving end. If she didn’t want us to get married, she could have declined. I

  • THE ALPHA WANTS ME BACK   DRIVEWAY

KOOKIE:After Elias gets to his apartment, we say our last goodbyes. Then I get into the driver’s seat with my heart swelling with an ache in it. I take deep and quick breaths, knowing I will be meeting with Levi soon.My phone rings. The screen lights up with my mother’s name on display. I grumble.“He got my mother to call. How cute.”“Where are you, Kookie?” she asks the moment I pick up.“In my car?” I answer in an unruly tone.“You know what I mean by that. Levi is worried. We are all worried, and he has been waiting at the store for the fitting. Is something wrong?” She asks, and I contemplate telling her what I saw.“Nothing.” I reply.I do not want to let a lot of people know my suspicions. I know my mother. The moment I say something like that, she will contact the Luna, who will call Levi to shout at him before he even says anything.“It has been a busy day for me, and I am heading to the location.”“But we asked that you clear your schedule.”“It doesn’t work like that, Mum

  • THE ALPHA WANTS ME BACK   CHEATING

KOOKIE:Waking up this morning with a ring on my finger still feels weird. I am to be married. It is like a dream come true, one that I have been in denial about for many years. My eyes watch the ring as it glitters under the morning sun. Levi is still in bed while I stand on the balcony, soaking up the morning sun.“Up so early?” His groggy tone comes from the room, and I turn around, peeping through the glass door with a smile on my face.He yawns, sitting up. Then he runs a hand across his face before opening his eyes. He stretches his arms lightly, and I walk into the room to meet him. I sit beside him in bed, planting a kiss on his cheek.“Good morning, baby,” he greets, taking my lips in a brief kiss.“We should have breakfast.” I grab his hand, pulling him off the bed.“Slow down,” he says, yanking his hand away from mine. He stands by himself, fixing his robe. “I like that you are happy,” he says, and I throw my arms around him.“I am going to be a wife.”“Mmh.” He wraps his h

  • THE ALPHA WANTS ME BACK   WHO WANTS CAKE?

KOOKIE:By the time I get home, I am still pissed. The whole day I kept waiting for Levi to call, or text, or say something about my birthday — but nothing. There is no hint that he remembered, and old me would have loved to use this against him forever, but I am just so hurt. It is my big day, and he treats it like nothing.I push the front door open and step inside. The house is unusually quiet except for the noise from the television. Blue is curled up on the couch, eyes glued to the screen.“Hey, munchkin,” I say, slipping off my shoes. “Where’s your daddy?” She shrugs without looking away from the TV.“I don’t know.”She doesn’t remember too. I mean, it is okay, because she is just six, but Levi, he is fucking twenty-six.I frown, glancing toward the stairs.“Levi?” I call out, my voice echoing through the house. I try again, louder. “Levi!”He doesn’t answer again, causing my irritation to spike. I dig my phone out of my bag and call him. He picks up on the first ring.“Where ar

  • THE ALPHA WANTS ME BACK   BIRTHDAY

LEVI:I wake up before Kookie, and I go about making more preparations for her big day. When she is finally awake, I greet her casually.“Good morning, love,” I say, and she flashes a smile, pushing herself off the bed.She wraps her hand around my neck, kissing me.“You are extra loving this morning. Is everything okay?” I ask, and she pulls away with a slight frown. “Do not tell me you forgot,” she says, her voice still hoarse from sleep.I frown as though I do not know what she is talking about.“Forgot what?” I grab my phone from my pocket and scroll to my calendar, pretending to seriously check.“Hmm. Nope. Nothing here.”Her brows shoot up.“Really?” I glance over at her, feigning confusion.“You are going to have to tell me.”“No.” She pulls away from me. “If you love me, you will remember.”I push a hand through my hair, sighing like I am trying to force it out of my brain.“Alright… I will keep thinking. Maybe it will come to me.”“Yeah. Maybe,” she says, walking to the close
