Chapter 93

**Celeste's POV**

The stairs creaked under my bare feet as I crept down to Father's study.

Midnight had come and gone. The house was silent except for the grandfather clock ticking in the hallway, counting down the last minutes of my old life. In my pocket, the vial of poison felt warm against my hip, pulsing in rhythm with the black star on my palm.

Father's study door stood open, yellow light spilling into the dark hallway. I could hear him moving around inside, preparing for his nightly ritual. The same ritual he'd followed for as long as I could remember... hot tea, exactly three sugar cubes, and twenty minutes of reading before bed.

Tonight would be different.

I pressed myself against the wall and watched him through the doorway. He looked older than usual, his shoulders bent with exhaustion. For a moment, something that might have been love flickered in my chest.

Then I remembered his words from earlier. *She'll get over it. Young girls always think their first heartb

Chapter 95**Evangeline's POV**I woke up screaming. The pain hit me like lightning striking bone... a crushing weight in my chest that felt like someone was reaching through my ribs to squeeze my heart. My back arched off the bed as agony tore through every nerve, every muscle, every drop of blood in my body. But the pain wasn't mine.Images flooded my mind like water through a broken dam. Not my memories, someone else's. A girl with golden hair and green eyes full of tears. Hands that shook as they poured clear liquid into a china cup. The sound of a man choking on his own spit. And blood. So much blood."What the hell..." I choked, clutching my head as the visions kept coming. "Who's trying to crawl into my skin?"The pendant around my neck burned like acid. The thorns on my walls writhed as if they were in pain too. Every shadow in my room danced wildly, responding to the chaos exploding inside me.I rolled off the bed and hit the floor hard, my knees scraping against cold stone.

  • THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME   Chapter 94

Chapter 94**Silas's POV**The sound of footsteps echoed through my throne room like gunshots in the night.I didn't need to look up from the ancient book in my hands to know who approached. Kael moved with the careful precision of someone bearing news that could either delight or destroy. His silver eyes always gave away which kind of report he carried, and tonight they gleamed with something I hadn't seen in centuries.Excitement.The shadows in the corners of the throne room seemed to thicken as he drew closer, as if something in the air itself had changed. The realm was restless tonight, stirring with energies that spoke of violence and transformation in the mortal world."My lord," he said, dropping to one knee before my throne. "I bring word from the mortal realm."I closed the book slowly, savoring the moment. Whatever had happened in that world of flesh and blood, it was significant enough to pull my spy away from his assigned watch over the Beta's daughter."Speak," I command

  • THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME   Chapter 92

Chapter 92**Celeste's POV**The key turned in the lock with a sound like breaking bones.I pressed my face against the heavy oak door of my bedroom, listening to my father's footsteps fade down the hallway. Each step felt like another nail in my coffin, another brick in the wall he was building around me.Three days. Three days since he'd dragged me home from the witch's cottage with blood on my hands and murder in my eyes. Three days of being trapped in this room like a criminal while he decided what to do with his disappointing daughter. The black star on my palm throbbed with each heartbeat, a reminder of the magic I'd tasted and lost. The witch's spell had failed, but something had awakened inside me during those moments when her blood mixed with mine. Something dark and hungry that paced beneath my skin like a caged animal.I walked to my window and stared out at the gardens where I used to play as a child. Everything looked the same, the carefully trimmed hedges, the fountain w

Chapter 91**Evangeline's POV**I woke to the sound of knocking at my door. Not the harsh banging of servants or guards, but gentle taps that seemed almost shy. The thorns covering my walls shifted at the sound, black vines rustling like they were listening. The white flowers scattered among them glowed brighter, responding to my sudden alertness."Come in," I called, sitting up in bed.Silas entered carrying a small wooden box in his hands. He looked different in the morning light streaming through my windows, younger somehow, less like the terrifying Shadow King and more like a man bearing gifts. His silver eyes were soft as they met mine, and when he smiled, it reached his eyes in a way that made my chest flutter with unwanted warmth."Good morning," he said, his voice gentle as silk. "I hope I didn't wake you.""You did," I admitted, pulling the covers closer around me. "But I don't mind."The honesty in my voice surprised me. When had I started looking forward to his visits? When

  • THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME   Chapter 90

Chapter 90***Celeste's POV**Three days of pacing. Three days of staring at Ronan's bedroom window from the gardens below. Three days of watching guards march past his door like he was some common criminal instead of the future Alpha I was supposed to marry. My fingernails were bitten down to the quick. My perfect hair hung in tangles around my shoulders. The servants whispered when they thought I couldn't hear, calling me desperate, calling me pathetic. They weren't wrong.I stood at the bottom of the grand staircase, looking up at the landing that led to Ronan's prison. The guards knew me, knew my family's power. They would let me pass. The question was whether I was brave enough to face him.My hands shook as I climbed the stairs. Each step felt like walking toward my own execution. What if he laughed at me? What if he looked at me with the same cold disgust I'd seen in his eyes since that night at the gate? What if he said her name?"Miss Hartwell," one of the guards nodded as I
