Eve's POV.

Another day had passed since we had left home. The third day seemed more rough than the first two. Diablo got hurt from hunting down a rabbit for dinner. I sprained my ankle from too much walking. Sebastian was the one who reassured us we'd soon arrive there.

And true to his words, not long after we resumed the journey that morning, we arrived at the part of the forest where the master healer claimed we could find the tree bark we needed.

My eyes caught it at first glance. The bl

Eve’s POV. “Shadow will stay with you. You can have as many of the maids as you want to help you” Sebastian said when I reached the door. “Only Akira will do” I walked out of the door, and headed to the servants quarters to find Akira. Miranda was just heading out of the place when I arrived. Our eyes locked, and I thought she was going to make the evening more difficult than it had gotten, but she didn't. She bowed slightly and just walked by. I didn't have the time to think about her or wonder about the reason why she had become humble over the past weeks. I arrived at Akira's room and placed a knock. My hand had barely left the door when it opened. A fair lady stood in front of me, a smile on her face and her hair stopping at shoulder length. I looked over at her body in one quick glance. It was Akira's new roommate from what she had told me about. “Hi” I said, voice low. “I'd like to see Akira” Her eyes widened with amusement as if she had just realized something. “You

Eve’s POV. How many hours has it been since I’ve sat at the dining table? I had lost count. I was concerned about Sebastian, about the pack, about everything that was currently happening. My legs were curled up to myself on the chair, unconsciously fidgeting with my nails. I was still doing that when a knock came on the door. My body jolted immediately and my head snapped towards the entrance. Was that Sebastian? No, you dumb. Why would he knock before entering his own house? I headed to the door and when I opened it, Akira stood there. I breathed out though I didn’t know what that was for. “I didn’t know if you wanted to be disturbed, Luna,” Shadow said. I flashed him a smile and turned back to Akira. “Come in” I paved the way for her to walk through. She walked into the house first and I walked after her. “I didn’t hear about your journey until you left” She said, turning to look at me with her face filled with concern. We both settled around the dining table and she si

Sebastian's POV. “Tell me, Blake” I started, voice hoarse. “Since when have you been working with Riven pack?” “Since when has your loyalty been divided?”Blake looked at me, his gaze fierce and hateful. He said nothing, and I didn't need to tell the guards that stood behind him before they whipped him. One delivered a lash from the left side while the other delivered another from the left. Blake bit his lips and winced. He was acting tough, and I liked that. As much as I would have loved to hold this conversation with him, and find entertainment out of torturing him, I didn't have the luxury at the time. And another thing was, I couldn't come back to deal with him. It had to be now. “Forget that.” I said quickly. How long he had been doing what he had been doing no longer mattered. Something else does now. My gaze moved to the left and I signaled to the guard who stood beside the fire brazier. Just a nod, and he approached with the branding tool. The metal seared hot and red

Sebastian’s POV. “We need to get the captured people, alpha” Dante brought me out of my trance. He was right but then again, “We need to stop the infected from dying also” That is, if we could. Dante’s face creased as if he didn’t understand me. He definitely didn’t. We’ve fought beside each other for too long for him to know what I would have done in this situation and what I would have done was what he had mentioned; rescue the captured. But this time, there was more to it than only I understood. “The infected are in the pack, Sebastian. We can always come back to look after them. I saw the barks you brought, the Luna can take care of that until we return.” Yes, that was where the problem was. I faced Dante, unable to bottle it in anymore. “You are telling me to leave her alone with a crucial life and death matter, and elders who wouldn’t hesitate to tear her apart if things go wrong” I said. Dante looked at me in silence, but I could see through his silence that he was pie

Sebastian’s POV. My head wouldn’t stop processing the words. My jaws clenched when I imagined how my people had suffered simply because I was away from the pack and because I had failed to put an end to Blake when I found out about his secret dealings with another pack. I faced the guard who had come to give the report. “What about the sick?” It would be a huge disaster if the camp had been disrupted. It would be more disastrous if they mixed with the people as that would get a whole lot infected. “The intruders didn’t discover their camp. I believe they think it was just an old abandoned site that holds nothing” The guard reported. A sigh of relief made it through my lips. Well, fuck these small talks. I had plans to make. I looked at Blake where he knelt, looking way too defiant. A quick death would be too much of mercy for him. A very slow one wouldn’t work with me either as seeing his face at the moment irks me more than anything else had. “Take him to the cells. I want th

Author’s POV. The fight became intense as the minutes dragged by. Dante was already exhausted but he didn't give up, nor did his men. They all lived up to the oath they made to Sebastian; to protect the pack, no matter the odds. Dante stood with his dagger, his hand slightly shaking from exhaustion. He positioned himself in a way that showed he was ready to fight, while the guy in front of him also seemed nervous about fighting him. He had used up the bullets he got from the first guy he fought and had abandoned the revolver afterwards. His dagger had been the only thing that kept him going since then. He raised his brow, a smirk appearing on his bloody face. “Come on” he beckoned to the guy. The guy hesitated, clearly afraid for his life even while Dante was the one who was at a disadvantage as he looked hurt and tired. Just when the guy was about to lunge at him, he noticed his teammates whispering to themselves as they ran towards the entrance. One of them did him a kind fa
