CHAPTER 12: A LIE

Ryan's head began to do maths. He had told a lie to wriggle his way out. He needed to tell another lie to cover up his tracks.

Kristie folded her arms. “You look surprised,” she said. “Or should I say… shocked? You even spilled your coffee.”

Ryan said nothing for a while. He simply got out of the bed and placed the cup of coffee on the side table. While Kristie watched him, he walked to the bathroom and washed his face. Then, he returned to her.

“Are you going to keep mute like this?” Kristie queried. “You are saying absolutely nothing in your defence.”

Ryan looked at her. “What has Erik said to you that you suddenly doubt the words of your husband?”

Kristie cocked her hair. “Does it really matter at this point? Fine. If you must know, Erik said this client is a guy. What did you say to me last night? You said it was a freaking woman. A freaking woman, Ryan! He was even surprised when I asked about the client. The innocent man was covering the tracks of his friend.”

What have her the right to tell his dad about him not being home and she thinks he is cheating on her. Now he needs to come clean to his dad about Ava being Avalon’s chairwoman of the company and she holding a grudge and wants revenge and her twins are his, but he needs to get a paternity test done.
