The question made Charlie Jnr angrier, his frosty gaze lingering on Margret.
Suddenly, a scream broke through the tense air: "Bliss!" Margret's attention was diverted from Charlie Jnr., and a small smile spread on her face.
Right behind her, a group of people appeared, her manager, Klaus, leading them.
"Bliss, why didn't you even call me before coming here? Am I still your manager?" Klaus asked, curling his lips into a frown. Despite being a male, Klaus was always dressed like a lady.
Charlie Jr. watched Margret distractedly before he heard a whisper from his PA "Sir Charlie Jr, your father wants to see you." He averted his gaze while leaving with his entourage.By then, Margret was fully back to her senses and realized that Charlie had gone. At that moment, Klaus witnessed her puzzled expression. "Who are you looking for, Bliss?"
Margret forced a weary smile and answered: "Nobody." She was too afraid to let the media get any hints about her children's existence.Klaus tried to take her attention away from the thought. "Today is your moment! The red carpet is prepared for you. Let's go enjoy it."
Margret and her crew entered the lit bouquet hall. The cameramen made several shots of her and then directed her towards the reception hall.
In the hall, she chatted with many people in the hall, when an unexpected voice greeted her from behind, "Welcome back, sister. Long time no see!"
Margret's face darkened when she saw Brenda approaching her step by step, Daniel suddenly emerged and pulled Brenda closer to himself, wrapping his arms tightly around her.
"I have been looking for you everywhere, darling, thank goodness you are here," he said and exhaled in relief.
Brenda leaned in and captured his lips with hers, the kiss deepening in intensity and warmth. Daniel was surprised at the sudden intensity of the kiss, but still deepened it further, savouring the feeling of Brenda in his arms.
Margret's eyes narrowed, she wasn't surprised that Daniel her ex-boyfriend and Brenda her step-sister are now together.Brenda broke the kiss and said coquettishly "I am sorry, my love for making you worry about me, I saw my sister that I haven't seen for many years, that is why I came over here, just to say hello to her"
Daniel blinked with surprise, turning his head to the direction Brenda was looking at, and saw Margret standing there.
"Margret Owen!" he called out in surprise. Unconsciously, he wanted to let go of Brenda, but she held him tightly, her gaze triumphant as she looked from Margret to him.
Margret rolled her eyes at the dramatic couple. "Brenda Owen, I am not your sister, and I will never be one. And you, Daniel, stop calling me Owen. I am not part of the Owen family anymore," she replied coldly, turning away from them and leaving the area.
Margret wasn't aware of the unfathomable pair of eyes staring at her.
She decided to use the restroom to quickly call the twins at home "hello, mommy" Caleb's voice came from the phone's speaker.
Margret started hearing Celestine's voice in the background also "allow me, I want to talk to mommy too"
Margret deduced that the both of them were possibly fighting over the phone "Caleb, give the phone to your brother, let me talk to him also"
After Margret finished calling and confirming that they are fine, she ended the call and exited the restroom.
Big pair of arms pulled her to himself, she fell into the man's arms, her face slammed on the man's broad chest, Margret peered into the face of the man.
She was alarmed and tried to push him away, but the man strongly held her against her will.
"Stop moving" the man's deep magnetic voice sounded in her ears, making her suddenly stop struggling.
The man's deep and magnetic voice spoke once again "Margret Owen, where have you been all these years? I have been looking for you for fifteen years - where are the triplets you promised me?"
The surprise that Margret felt was visible on her face. She thought he was a delusional fan of hers and forced a weak smile "Sir, you must be drunk. I don't know you and this is the first time we've met. I'm Bridget Melissa."
Charlie was about to give into her answer, when her stretched arm indicated a handshake. His face darkened and his eyes narrowed with coldness. "You think I'm an idiot or a fool? Why are you pretending that you don't remember me?"
It was the urge to flee that made Margret realize her horrible mistake - she was looking straight at her delusional fan. Instantly, she kneed Charlie's private area and ran out of the restroom.
Reaching the bouquet hall, she saw Klaus, asking her "Have you seen, Mr Charlie? He's CEO of the company you signed with."
Margret replied, "not yet, where is he?"At that moment, Charlie arrived in the hall. Klaus studied Margret, who was trying to catch her breath.
He started describing Charlie's looks "he is hot and handsome" Margret froze in her spot, to gather the courage to speak when she saw the person Klaus was referring to, "it a shame he is married with a son, I would have personally proposed to him"
Charlie was caught up with some men who were talking to him, he was about to come over "Margret, you will soon go up the stage to perform" Klaus commented.
To his surprise, Margret has already absconded, "what is happening?"
Margret touched her chest, her heart beating wildly, "Bliss, we are preparing to take you backstage for your performance tonight. Your make-up team wants to get started and make sure you look perfect for your big moment," one of the run-crew members informed her.
Margret nodded and quickly followed the crew to the backstage. Once she was done with her makeover, she took the stage.
Cheers erupted immediately after the stage light shone on her.
"You are beautiful, Bliss!"
"I love you, Bliss"
Charlie glared at those fans making such comments coldly, and they subconsciously shut up their mouths.
"Love is all I see, even in the streets..." Margret started singing melodiously.
After she was done with the performance, a loud applause filled the bouquet, she bowed her head "thank you, everyone"
She left the stage and quickly made her way out of the bouquet hall through the backyard.
"Where do you think you are going? Are you afraid to explain to me what happened fifteen years ago, Margret?"
Margret stared at the man she had loved her entire life, the man she had given the presidency of Jing Entertainment, the man she had sacrificed her potential fame for, Daniel Scot, her ex-lover whom abandoned her the time she needed him the most. Margret sneered, "Daniel, why would I explain what happened fifteen years ago? Were you not the one who refused to listen to me then?" Daniel hung his head in shame, "I am sorry, Margret. I was young and stupid then. I want to listen now. Please, tell me what happened." Margret scoffed, realizing how foolish Daniel had been. "Why would I do that? It's been fifteen years, and I have moved on. Please, you should do the same." She turned away and began walking briskly when Daniel called out, "Wait..." Margret paused in her steps. "Don't you still love me?" Margret refused to turn around. "I no longer love you, Daniel. The love I had for you died fifteen years ago, and it's not coming back." Margret left, leaving Daniel standing there wi
Margret squinted her eyes in understanding as she realized why the woman was so frightened, her son was mistaken for Charlie Jnr from the night before. "Ma'am, this is not Charlie Jnr, this is my son," Margret said in a calming tone. The nerd middle-aged woman stiffly sat on her seat and quickly registered Caleb and Celestine with her full attention. "Where should I pay the fees?" Margret asked. The woman waved her hand and shook her head, "There is no need for that, this school owes a lot to your family." Margret hesitated, Celestine chimed in "mom, if she doesn't want the fee, there is no need to force her to accept, lets go, we will be late for our classes if we continue staying here" she agreed and finished the necessary paperwork. After waving goodbye to their teachers, she left the school. The moment she sat in her car and started the engine her phone rang. "Klaus, is anything the matter?" she asked, expecting the worse. The voice on the other line said, "Margret darlin
Margret extinguished the rebellious thought she was nursing.with a palpable sense of dread, she kept her head covered and endured the long car ride. The fleet of cars came to a halt in a magnificent mansion, "get out!" the man at the backside with Margret ordered coldly.Margret alighted from the car using her sharpened instincts by martial arts, because her sight was covered, she couldn't see the endearing beauty of the mansion.A man in his late sixties led two burly men wearing white suits out of the mansion, they met with Margret. The Butler of the White family bowed his head and said apologetically "sorry Miss Margret Owen, our protocol is very rigid that doesn't mean, you are not our distinguished guest."corners of Margret's lips twitched, the Butler didn't see the change in her facial expression because her face was covered."Come with me," the Butler said and motioned the two burly men wearing white suits to bring Margret along.Margret followed them into the magnificent man
Charlie Snr. furrowed his eyebrows in contemplation, his mind racing as he tried to remember any sons he knew who attended Garden High School. After a few moments, he finally turned to John and said in a demanding tone, "John, I need you to find out who the children are and how they are related to me. Do whatever it takes, but I need an answer by dusk. Is that clear?" John nodded his head and replied in a subdued but determined manner, "Yes, sir. I will work as quickly as I can." He bowed his head respectfully before turning and quickly leaving to fulfil the task. Charlie Snr. watched him leave and sighed, leaning back in his chair as he allowed himself to ponder the mystery. His eyes flickered with a faint glimmer of hope as he thought of the possibility of a new family member. ******* Margret arrived at Garden High School, the moment she stepped out of her car, she heard loud voices. To her surprise, her two sons, Caleb and Celestine, were running towards her. Margret smiled
Margret looked on in helplessness as Caleb stood in front of a little girl sitting beneath a tree. The teenager raised her head, squinting her eyes at the intruder's face, which was barely visible due to the bright sunlight.Caleb reached out and knocked the bread the girl was eating to the ground. The girl stared at the fallen bread with regret and sorrow. "Why are you eating spoiled bread? Why don't you go home and ask your mommy for food?" Caleb spoke to the girl with a smile.Tears welled up in the girl's eyes, and she cried, "That is the only food I've eaten for days. My mom is sick, and no one wants to employ me because I'm underage. A kind woman gave me the spoiled bread, and now you've thrown it away."Caleb frowned, realizing the situation was direr than he thought. He took a deep breath and said, "Here, take this." Caleb held out a wad of money, and the girl's eyes widened in shock.Margret called out to Caleb in concern, "Caleb, what are you doing over there? Who are you ta
Margret entered the coffee store with a disguised appearance and made her way directly to the only private room in the establishment. She knocked twice on the door, and a deep voice from within granted her permission to enter. Upon opening the door, she found a man with a stoic facial expression seated firmly in a chair. "You're here, Margaret. I ordered some coffee for us," he said to her. She politely declined, shaking her head and explaining that she had already consumed too much for the day and wouldn't be partaking in any more. Silver chuckled in response to Margret's rejection and quipped, "You're still wary of me, Margret. Why don't you trust me? We've known each other for years now, and you're like a sister to me." Margret forced a smile and replied in a perfunctory manner, "I'm not wary of you. I just have an upset stomach. Can we talk now?" Silver nodded, and his demeanour shifted drastically. Margret placed photos of Millicent Ferguson on the table. "I've been searchin
Celestine hailed a taxi and instructed the driver to take him to his home address. Upon arriving, he stepped out of the vehicle and saw Caleb emerging from the gate. Caleb's tone was accusatory as he confronted Celestine, "Why didn't you answer your phone? Mom was worried sick about you."In a haughty manner, Celestine retorted, "Why are you scolding me? I didn't even know it was you who called."Caleb rolled his eyes and turned to leave, saying, "I can't be bothered with you."Celestine immediately pulled out his phone and dialled his mother's number. "Mom, I'm home. Where did you go?"Margret's voice came through the phone's speaker, "Thank goodness! I'll be right back."After ending the call, Celestine walked into the house, oblivious to the fact that a girl was hiding and watching him.Caleb and Celestine were sitting in front of the television when Margret came back home. As soon as they saw her, they stood up and welcomed her with open arms, "Welcome, mommy!"Margret smiled brig
As Mrs. Charlie Snr tried to approach Margret and her sons, her Senior Personal Assistant spoke up, "Madam, the boy standing over there is not your son, Sir Charlie Jr."Mrs. Charlie gave him a cold glare, causing him to shrink his neck. She asked in a stern tone, "And who said I am not aware of that fact?"The mall manager began to sweat profusely, having heard of the infamous temper of the daughter-in-law of the Whites family. Just as Mrs. Charlie was about to give an order, her phone rang. One of her bodyguards holding her phone stepped forward and said, "Madam, it's a call from Madame Agnes."As soon as Mrs. Charlie Snr heard who the caller is, her face turned pale with fear. Without wasting any time, she hastily picked up the phone and answered the call."Mom," she said in a fawning tone.Madame Agnes' voice came through the phone's speaker, "Chloe, I know you're at the mall and that you have seen a woman with her sons who looks exactly like your husband. Is that correct?"Chloe
