"Why didn't you tell me?" Mila asked, her focus now on Liam, who was still standing quietly beside her.

“Because he doesn't believe that you will end up like the previous kings and queens. He wants to protect you by not telling you this, as if not saying it would have a different effect,” Elena answered Mila's question for Liam.

Meanwhile, the king could only stare at Elena with a look full of hostility, as if he was ready to sentence her to death right then and there.
