ISABELLA POV
I adjusted awkwardly on my seat because now that the effects of the alcohol I had drank had begun to fade, it was embarrassing having to see him again. How did he not feel embarrassed? Or is it because this isn’t his first time? “ Let’s get straight to the point. Would you be my wife?” He asked and for a minute, my mind had to process his words before I turned a bright pink. “ I know I’m gorgeous and all but who falls in love with someone they just met!?” Was he out of his mind? “ Forgive my boss’s teasing. He was just trying to pull your legs,” who I assumed to be his secretary sighed. “ You’re very interesting,” he rubbed his chin. He loved my reaction to his bizarre words. “ A-anyone would react the way I did,” I stuttered. “ Stop joking around and say what you have to,” I exhaled. “ I wasn’t joking about the marriage part though, I just said it vaguely,” he answered. “ And my name is Ryan. I’m well aware of who you are and everything that has happened to you so far,” he crossed his legs. “ What are you? A stalker?” “ Isabella Genovese, clocked twenty-one years this year. You’re also in Castro University and you’re pretty much a model student,” he read out with a straight face. “ Do you want me to go on?” He smirked. “ No, anybody can get that sort of information from anywhere. I’m a Genoveseafter all, it’s not unnatural to have caught someone’s eye,” I said. As much as I despised my family, I was unfortunately still from a wealthy and influential family like the Genoveses. “ Do you have any idea what I really want? If you can tell me that, then I’ll believe you aren’t some creep,” I folded my arms. “ I heard that your fiance cheated on you with your younger half-sister. I also heard that she’s carrying his child,” he tapped the rim of his glass. “ You want to ruin them and your family in general right? You feel and are certain that the Genoveses killed your mom, isn’t it?” He knew too much. “ Who exactly are you?” I clutched my chest. “ I must have hit the hammer on the nail quite perfectly,” he snickered. “ I’m Ryan West and yes, it’s the very same popular West family you know,” he was confident that I knew. “ No way…” “ My offer is pretty simple, marry me in exchange for your revenge. You certainly can’t touch the Genovesefamily with how powerless you are, the only way to make them pay is to have someone like me backing you up,” he rested his back against the couch. “ Well, ultimately, it’s your choice so what do you say?” As I stood before my Dad and Stepmom, my heart raced with anticipation. “ I’m moving out,” I announced. My voice was firm and I felt a sense of resolve wash over me.From my peripheral vision, I could see my stepmom’s eyes widen in shock.
“ What do you mean you’re moving out?” She exclaimed loudly, her voice was laced with a mix of surprise and annoyance.“ Exactly what I said, I’m leaving.” I shrugged, clearly ignoring her.
My stepmom’s face turned red, and she started to ramble, “ But why? You can’t just…..”
“ Oh please! Save it okay.” I cut her off, cause my patience was wearing thin. “ We both know you’re happy I’m leaving.”
My dad scowled, his expression turned disapproving. “ Isabella, don’t speak to your mom that way.”
His words ignited a spark of anger within me. “ She’s not my mom,” I spat, my voice turned venomous. “ To think you have the audacity to say that when we both know you cheated on my actual mom.”
My Dad’s eyes blazed with fury. “ Isabella, that’s enough. You’ll respect your stepmother regardless of her being your biological mother or not!”
I remained resolute, my heart began pounding in a steady rhythm. “ I’m moving out for good. Not for school, neither for some temporary thing. I’m getting married.” I deadpanned, with my arms folded across my chest.
The room fell silent, and they both exchanged shocked and confused glances.
My Dad’s face turned red, and he spluttered, “ What kind of silly tantrum is this? What do you mean you’re getting married out of the blue?”
I kept my voice calm, trying to convey a sense of certainty. “ It’s not a tantrum. I’ve made up my mind.”
My Dad slammed his fist on the table.
“ You will return to your room right this minute and forget about this nonsense!”Ryan's POV.I always thought that Cairo was predictable. But she was cunning and reckless in the way only a woman with nothing to lose could be.She had come to my office dozens of times and she wouldn't leave without singing My Name multiple times, or pressing her body close to me hoping to slip under my skin.Tonight was no different except from the fact that I was more irritable and more disgusted by my own thoughts. I was alone in my office with a glass of whiskey in my hand. My mind wasn't on Cairo instead it was on Isabella. On how she had laughed at me the last time I cornered her, and how she had clung to Declan instead. My stomach twisted inside of me because I was angry. And I felt a pathetic ache that made me want to smash the glass in my hand just to feel it cut. Then the door swung open without a knock. Cairo stepped inside, wearing a silk dress that barely clung to her curves. Her hair was styled in loose waves as her perfume instantly hit me.“Ryan” she called out my n
Declan's POV.I hadn't slept properly in days. My home office was littered with empty coffees and cold takeout boxes.Half of the boxes were stained with sauce I didn't even remember eating. The screen in front of me kept replaying the damn tape that had wrecked Isabella's life.Over and over again even when her face twisted in pain as she felt humiliated in front of the whole world. Except now. When I saw that it was all fake.“We have run the footage through multiple detection models” Jason said as he pushed his glasses up.Jason had been my lead tech guy for years and I didn't fail to notice the way his eyes darted nervously. He was terrified of me and it was for a good reason. I had screamed at them non-stop for the past forty eight hours.“And what else?” I demanded with a rough voice.“Everything is AI manipulated and the facial movement doesn't match the micro muscle patterns. The voice is cloned and as you can see here” he said as he pointed at the screen, his fingers trembli
Isabella's POV.As soon as I left the Genovese mansion I received a message and it was from Mia. “Meet me at the Riverton Hall terrace at 8. It is about Declan” At that moment I wasn't thinking anymore. I should have known better and probably would have paused to think properly but I did nothing of that sort. But Declan's name was involved and it didn't even occur to me for even a moment. I didn't text her back, instead I just zoomed off. But by the time I realized that something was wrong it was already too late. The place Mia had invited me to was very dark and silent.I searched everywhere because I wanted to look for Mia. I didn't see her. I called out her name several times but yet there was no answer and that was when I saw him. “Levi. What the fuck are you doing here? Did you come here under the disguise of Mia? Or are you guys in this together?” I screamed at him because he was never willing to learn and understand the threats I was giving to him.“Isabella I” he tried to
Isabella's POV.“I have confirmed it,” my journalist said over the phone with a calm and professional voice.“Evelyn Genovese wired funds to an anonymous account used by city gold media. And that is the same media house that printed those false accusations and the headlines about your scandalous affair on the night of the ballroom events. She was the one who paid them to tarnish your reputation” he said.I was seated in Declan study room as I balled my right hand into a fist. I was so angry that I could feel my chest tighten.“Are you sure about this information you're giving to me right now? because if it is the wrong information, then you know the consequences right?” I asked.“Yes, Mrs Westwood. The information I am giving to you is very legit, and there is no mistake because I traced the account. And there is more to all of these, I just found out that she has been feeding anonymous tips to them for months, and all of the tips are always about you” he said.I should have known bet
Declan's POV.I knew something was wrong the moment she didn't finish her wine. It was a quiet evening but it was too quiet for the usual Isabella I always know.Isabella was a woman who always matched my sarcasm with her own with that fire in her eyes but tonight, she had barely touched her food and her glass hadn't even been sipped from. Then her laughter, it was nowhere to be found. Whenever I asked her a question she would smile at me so perfectly and reply with a yes when she didn't want to talk too much. But I knew better because I was beginning to read her silences just as much as her words. “Are you okay?” I asked, keeping my tone light as I cut into the roasted chicken we both had prepared earlier. “Yeah I am fine Declan. You know I'm just tired because it has really been a long day” she replied and this was the third time in this week she had said those exact words to me. But then I began to think too deeply about the whole matter. We hadn't even been to events nor have
Mia's POV.I stared at the screen as my fingers trembled slightly. I scrolled through the anonymous messages, the screenshots, and the voice notes. The group chats were filled with laughter and memes about me. My name, my picture, and my affair with Ryan had been exposed before everybody. The whole world knew about it and the way I threw myself at him. “Used doll” That phrase hit me harder than anything else. It was repeated over and over again. I was called a worn out play thing and the girl Ryan West always had fun with but would never take seriously. And that is when it occurred to me that they all knew. The elite circle I once proudly walked among were all laughing behind my back. All thanks to him. I squeezed my phone in my hands until my knuckles turned white. The sender hadn't signed their name but I didn't need to guess who it was. It was Levi. He was the only one who could go this far and still smile at me as though nothing had happened. He told me that he was not goin
