I walked into Sapphire Lounge, a famous and expensive bar in New York. The colorful flickering lights and the girls in skimpy clothes dancing seductively, when was the last time I came to a bar?
“ Hey! When you said we’re going clubbing, I thought you meant a regular club,” my best friend, Cario tugged on my gown. “ I thought you said we were going to have fun tonight. Are you having second thoughts now?” I frowned, slightly disappointed. “ I might even snag myself a man for the night,” I laughed eccentrically. “ That’s obviously not it and you want to have a fling? Anyway, my problem here is how are we supposed to afford anything here?” She pointed at the expensive lounge we had entered. “ We’re college students,” she reminded me. “ Have you forgotten that I’m from a wealthy family?” I turned around to look at her. “ How can I not remember? That’s even how we were able to get in to begin with,” she folded her arms. “ I plan on using my allowance tonight so you don’t need to worry. For tonight, I’ll be Isabella Genovese,” I stated as I continued walking, weaving my way through the people around. “ I thought you said you wouldn’t use your dad’s money ever!? Isn’t that why you’ve been working part-time and even got a scholarship?” She followed me behind. I stopped abruptly in my tracks. “ Yes, I said that but I’m really feeling out of it right now. It’s like my heart has been torn into shreds,” tears gathered in my eyes as I expressed. “ Can’t I just let loose for once?” The moment I asked, I felt a hand on my back. “ You don’t have to explain yourself to me, I understand,” she moved her hand from my back to my hair, ruffling it. “ Come on, let’s party till daybreak!” She said enthusiastically. “ You can’t say no to a party, can you?” I laughed. “ You know me too well,” she winked. Grabbing me gently by the wrist, she took me to the counter to sit. “ Two bottles of Smirnoff vodka Red,” she ordered and the bartender stared at us awkwardly. “ Hey! Are you planning on embarrassing us here?” I pulled her hand down and whispered. “ What did I do wrong?” She whispered back, her voice hinting impatience. “ Look around you, we’re at a luxury lounge. We’re going to look like bums here if you order a fifteen dollar drink,” I said in a hushed tone. “ It’s twenty dollars though,” she pouted with folded arms. “ I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. My friend here isn’t all that familiar with the drinks you have,” I laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of my head. “ We’ll have two bottles of Diamond is Forever Martini,” I gave a warm smile, hoping he hadn’t already begun suspecting us. “ If you don’t mind, I’d like to verify who you are,” the bartender said. I knew he was wary of us now. I took out my ID and handed it over to him. “ I’m Isabella Genoveseand I came here to have a good time with my friend,” I said as he looked at it. “ I-I’m sorry for bothering you,” he bowed his head in apology. I guess being a Genovesewasn’t all that bad. “ It’s fine so just get us our drinks,” I waved it off. I just wanted to cry my heart out and everything and everyone keeps ruining the mood to be depressed. He came back in a few minutes with glasses and two bottles of what we ordered. I and Cario started drinking without saying a word to each other. “ What?! He cheated with who?!” Cario raised her voice as I narrated everything to her in my tipsy state. “ I always knew he was nothing but trash,” she spat. I had just been dumped and to make it worse, my boyfriend, Levi, had been cheating on me with my sister. “ I feel like garbage,” I smacked my head against the counter in agony. “ I thought things like this only happen in movies,” Cario clenched her glass. “ To think he’d do that to you after all the years you’ve spent together,” she was angry. Maybe even angrier than I was since she had never liked him. I and Levi had been dating for five years now and even our families were aware of it. Just like I was, Levi was also from a wealthy family and we even promised to get married after we’re done with uni. “ Damn it!” I cussed through grit teeth. I hated how I was feeling. I wish everything that had happened was a lie or at least that it didn’t affect me. “ I always knew something was odd about him. I never liked how he acted,” Cario said.Isabella's POV.I didn't have enough time to think about anything. How I wanted to be pleasured and how I wanted to scream so loudly that my voice would be heard from kilometers away.I knew Declan had me starving for me and his actions showed me everything I needed to know. He pulled me closer to him and I began to think if I had ever been so close to anyone in my life like the way he held me so closely to him.I kissed him and I could feel his already hard dick against me.“God, Isabella” he muttered my name as his hands roamed around my body, like he didn't know where to touch first. He slowly removed my dress from my body as he used his tongue to trail kisses down to the side of my neck and I tilted my head to the side to give him more space to pleasure me.“I swear. You always find a way to drive me insane” he murmured the words softly, then I felt his teeth bite me gently on my neck and I gasped out as my body jerked in a single motion. His fingers found their way down to my pan
Isabella's POV.For once I didn't even think about how peace would feel but here I was experiencing every bit of it with Declan in my life.We were finally back home after overcoming a risky death situation in India and now we were facing the scandals and secrets in our hometown that almost destroyed us but we overshadowed it and came out stronger than ever.Because of everything we had gone through. We didn't even realize we hadn't spent time with each other, I mean things were now better between us despite being around each other. Our bodies weren't close at all, our bodies didn't align with each other and it needed to so we can both belong to one another for a lifetime. We were in our bedroom and the night air was so cold. My feet, my hands, my body. Everything inside of me was so cold and I desperately needed some warmth.“That is enough of the silence between us. Let us break it down with some sweet red wine” Declan said as he poured the already open wine into our empty glasses w
Ryan's POV.I had never hated the walls of my office more. The glass and the slick modern lines, they all seemed to mock me, reflecting back the face of a man who had failed on every possible level. Cairo stood across from me, her arms clutched tightly around her waist. Her eyes were wide and glossy. “Ryan.. please I can explain” Cairo begged and I shoved the thick manila folder across the desk so hard that it skidded and almost fell off.Photos, print out of chat logs, and money transfer receipts spilled out. The evidence was the damn proof that Cairo had collided with Mia and Levi to ruin Isabella on what was supposed to be our happiest day.“You disgust me” I said, my voice frighteningly calm. The rage in my chest was volcanic and bubbling just under the surface. “How long were you working with them? How long were you laughing behind my back when you destroyed the only woman I have ever-”I stopped myself right in time because I wasn't giving Cairo that satisfaction. She tried t
Isabella's POV.Coming back home felt strange after everything that had happened in India. The fear, the surgery, and the quiet miracle of waking up again. The house seemed almost too still and I paused by the front door, just breathing in the familiar scent of vanilla.“Welcome home Mrs Westwood” Declan said as he squeezed my hand in his and I smiled at him though my smile trembled at the corner of my lips.“It feels like a lifetime ago that I just walked through this door,” I said.“And it is still yours. It is ours and it will always be” he said and he pulled me into his arms and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. I leaned into him as I closed my eyes and in that moment everything else fell away, the scandals, the surgeries, and the nightmares. It was just us.“Whatever happens now. I am fighting this war with you, the Genovese name, Mia's lies, the vultures waiting for a story. I don't care because I am right here” Declan whispered against my hair.A tear slipped down my cheek bu
Mia's POV.I didn't know how long I had been sitting on the floor of my bedroom. My phone was clutched so tightly in my hand that it felt extremely painful for me but I couldn't stop holding onto it, it was like the only life support I had at that moment. The screen of my phone glowed with the headline that felt like a knife pressed to my throat.DNA SCANDAL: MIA GENOVESE EXPOSED- NOT THE REAL DAUGHTER OF THE GENOVESE DYNASTY.There were other words beneath it. Bastard, fraud, scandal swirling together until my vision got blurred.I wanted to scream or run. Or claw at my own skin, but instead I just start there frozen.I didn't know. I didn't know what to do at that moment. A choked sob forced its way up my throat. This couldn't be true. It couldn't be, my entire life and the parties, the legacy, and the way people looked at me was because I was a Genovese. If I wasn't, then who the hell was I?Before I could stop myself, I was on my feet, grabbing my purse and keys with shaking hands
Isabella's POV.I clutched the edge of the hospital bed as I swung my legs over the side, my breath was shallow. Three days ago I had been wheeled into surgery with odds so cruel that still made my stomach twist. Now I was here, my feet touching the cold floor of a hospital room in India, trying to remember what it felt like to stand on my own. Declan was instantly by my side, his hand gripping my elbow like he thought I might shatter. Honestly, I probably looked like it. My skin was pale, and my arms were thin after weeks of illness and fear. But when I caught his worried eyes, something inside of me hardened.“I have survived worse” I teased softly, even though we both knew that that was a lie. Nothing had ever been this close to the edge.“Baby” he murmured, bending to press his forehead to mine, “I need you to stop trying to act so damn strong. It is okay to lean on me” “I know” I whispered, And I did. More than ever. The doctor came inside with a smiling face as he handed Decl
