I walked into Sapphire Lounge, a famous and expensive bar in New York. The colorful flickering lights and the girls in skimpy clothes dancing seductively, when was the last time I came to a bar?
“ Hey! When you said we’re going clubbing, I thought you meant a regular club,” my best friend, Cario tugged on my gown. “ I thought you said we were going to have fun tonight. Are you having second thoughts now?” I frowned, slightly disappointed. “ I might even snag myself a man for the night,” I laughed eccentrically. “ That’s obviously not it and you want to have a fling? Anyway, my problem here is how are we supposed to afford anything here?” She pointed at the expensive lounge we had entered. “ We’re college students,” she reminded me. “ Have you forgotten that I’m from a wealthy family?” I turned around to look at her. “ How can I not remember? That’s even how we were able to get in to begin with,” she folded her arms. “ I plan on using my allowance tonight so you don’t need to worry. For tonight, I’ll be Isabella Genovese,” I stated as I continued walking, weaving my way through the people around. “ I thought you said you wouldn’t use your dad’s money ever!? Isn’t that why you’ve been working part-time and even got a scholarship?” She followed me behind. I stopped abruptly in my tracks. “ Yes, I said that but I’m really feeling out of it right now. It’s like my heart has been torn into shreds,” tears gathered in my eyes as I expressed. “ Can’t I just let loose for once?” The moment I asked, I felt a hand on my back. “ You don’t have to explain yourself to me, I understand,” she moved her hand from my back to my hair, ruffling it. “ Come on, let’s party till daybreak!” She said enthusiastically. “ You can’t say no to a party, can you?” I laughed. “ You know me too well,” she winked. Grabbing me gently by the wrist, she took me to the counter to sit. “ Two bottles of Smirnoff vodka Red,” she ordered and the bartender stared at us awkwardly. “ Hey! Are you planning on embarrassing us here?” I pulled her hand down and whispered. “ What did I do wrong?” She whispered back, her voice hinting impatience. “ Look around you, we’re at a luxury lounge. We’re going to look like bums here if you order a fifteen dollar drink,” I said in a hushed tone. “ It’s twenty dollars though,” she pouted with folded arms. “ I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. My friend here isn’t all that familiar with the drinks you have,” I laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of my head. “ We’ll have two bottles of Diamond is Forever Martini,” I gave a warm smile, hoping he hadn’t already begun suspecting us. “ If you don’t mind, I’d like to verify who you are,” the bartender said. I knew he was wary of us now. I took out my ID and handed it over to him. “ I’m Isabella Genoveseand I came here to have a good time with my friend,” I said as he looked at it. “ I-I’m sorry for bothering you,” he bowed his head in apology. I guess being a Genovesewasn’t all that bad. “ It’s fine so just get us our drinks,” I waved it off. I just wanted to cry my heart out and everything and everyone keeps ruining the mood to be depressed. He came back in a few minutes with glasses and two bottles of what we ordered. I and Cario started drinking without saying a word to each other. “ What?! He cheated with who?!” Cario raised her voice as I narrated everything to her in my tipsy state. “ I always knew he was nothing but trash,” she spat. I had just been dumped and to make it worse, my boyfriend, Levi, had been cheating on me with my sister. “ I feel like garbage,” I smacked my head against the counter in agony. “ I thought things like this only happen in movies,” Cario clenched her glass. “ To think he’d do that to you after all the years you’ve spent together,” she was angry. Maybe even angrier than I was since she had never liked him. I and Levi had been dating for five years now and even our families were aware of it. Just like I was, Levi was also from a wealthy family and we even promised to get married after we’re done with uni. “ Damn it!” I cussed through grit teeth. I hated how I was feeling. I wish everything that had happened was a lie or at least that it didn’t affect me. “ I always knew something was odd about him. I never liked how he acted,” Cario said.Isabella's POV.I found it hard to believe Declan. I could notice that his gaze on me was slightly unfocused, so it should also be the same thing on the road. Also, his grip on the steering wheel was a little too tight.“Pull over,” I said.“What?” Declan asked with a drunk voice.“I said pull over now” I repeated my words and reluctantly, he slowed the car and parked it by the roadside. I got out, walked around, and opened the door.“Move” I instructed and he raised his eyebrows.“What is with you and giving me orders? Are you really_” he was about to speak what I already knew so I interrupted him.“Yes I will drive” I replied and to my suprise, he obeyed me and we swapped seats. I adjusted the mirrors and started the engine.“You know how to drive?” he asked.“It’s a basic life skill” I said, trying to keep my nerves from showing as he leaned his head against the window.“I think it's time I bought you a car” he said and I chuckled at his words.“I guess for you to be able to do tha
Isabella's POV.I stirred the oatmeal gently, watching it thicken over the gas cooker and Declan walked in with his damp hair which was scattered by the shower. He wore a navy blue shirt and fitted trousers then I noticed that he paused in his footsteps when he saw me in the kitchen.“Good morning Bella” he said with a deep voice which was rough with sleep and I glanced over my shoulder and smiled at him.“Good morning Declan” I replied back as his eyebrow narrowed at me.“Are you okay? Shouldn't you be resting?” “I think that I have been resting too much,” I said, turning off the gas cooker and turning to face him fully. “Declan, I want to go back to school” “Today?” he asked.“Yes. I want to go back to school today” I responded and he walked towards me slowly as though he was trying to read between the lines of my request.“Isabella you are still healing and you know that you cannot afford to push yourself too hard” he said, in that infuriatingly calm tone of his.“I didn't say th
Levi's POV.The hospital smelled like antiseptic and it felt so quiet. I sat on the edge of the chair staring blankly at the door as I waited for doctor Jayden who was ten minutes late and it felt like I had been waiting for a lifetime. My fingers were clenched into fists as I placed them on my thighs. My parents' voice couldn't stop replaying in my head and I was here in the hospital to finally get my unanswered questions. I wasn't really ready for bad news, at least not again and I wished that my parents were wrong.“Mr Levi?” doctor Jayden called out and I stood up, swallowing hard as I cleaned my hands on my trousers.“Yeah that is me” I replied, stepping inside his office as he gestured for me to sit down.“I went through Mia's files and the reports from the nurse on duty the day she came in,” he said.“Yeah I know about that. You told me she had a miscarriage, right? That's what she said” I replied and I noticed the way she shifted uncomfortably.“Medically she had a miscarriage
Isabella's POV.“Declan what are you doing with that box? It belongs to me” I said in a low whisper and he smiled at him.“What do you think I am doing with your little box? I went up to your room to get your medicines Bella” he said gently and my eyes widened at him as he placed the box on the table.“You what?”“If I had told you to get your medicines. You would have obeyed me but I know for a fact that you are capable of hiding some medications” he aired out as his voice was laced with concern and my heart thudded in my chest. He had seen the test results? The one I stupidly tucked into the bottom of the box beneath everything else? But then I noticed his calm and composed look. And that was when I knew he hadn't seen it, at least not yet. Relief instantly washed over me as Declan pulled out the medicine bottles.“Come on. You need to take these” he urged and I winced at him as though I was in pain.“Not now Declan. At least just give me some time for my food to digest”“Really? Ha
Isabella's POV.I was reluctant about it but I finally changed into my nightwear as I heard the sound of plates in my head and then I realized that it was only Declan that could do such. After all, it was only me and him in the entire house. I made my way downstairs as I felt the coldness of the floor beneath my feet and my eyes landed on Declan. He was wearing sweatpants and a plain black T-shirt. The sleeves of the t-shirt were rolled up to his elbow, like he would normally do. He stood in front of the gas cooker as though he belonged there.“Do you cook?” I asked, leaning against the doorframe with my arms crossed over my chest as he turned to look at me.“I learnt how to cook from my grandmother and I really never saw it as a necessity to use my skills but I guess I have to do it now” he said.“What do you mean by doing it now?” I repeated, arching my brow at him and he chuckled at my expression.“I said that because you look like someone who hasn't eaten in three days” he added
CAIRO'S POV.I decided to tease him a little and I turned my back against him, trying to walk out of the door but I felt Ryan's hand wrapped around my wrist. As he pulled me back with a force that spoke louder than any words. That was one thing I loved with Ryan. He didn't ask. He didn't beg. He just acted. His tight grip on my wrist swallowed my breath and before I could try to protest with him. His mouth was on mine again, this time around his kiss was harder and desperate. Like he had tried to convince himself to let me go but he failed miserably.I didn't resist him because his touches were driving me insane. It didn't even give me an opportunity to choose. My back hit the wall with a soft thud as his warm breath on my neck made me gasp and he didn't wait to take advantage of me, or should I say my weakness? As he deepened the kiss.“You are driving me insane Cairo” Ryan murmured against my lips.“Very good Ryan. Now you know what it feels like” I replied, my hands gripping the co
