ISABELLA POV
My Dad let out a nervous laugh, his eyes darted to me before he said. “ It’s not like I’m against it, Mr. West. But don’t you think she’s a bit young? She’s just twenty-one and still in school….”
Ryan cut him off, his voice turned firm.
“ But you don’t have any problem with your younger daughter getting married, do you? So why is it a problem now?”My Dad turned quiet at Ryan’s questions, and tried avoiding Ryan’s intimidating stare.
Ryan’s eyes glinted with amusement.
“ From what I’ve seen and noticed, Isabella seems more intelligent, more mature and more financially savvy than your younger daughter. And yet, you gave her away in marriage without a second thought. Why do you have a problem with Isabella getting married?”My heart raced with joy and excitement at Ryan’s words. Even though I didn’t have any ounce of feeling for him, still I was grateful for his support, and at this point I’d do anything to go far away from my parents.
Ryan turned to his butler, who stood by the door. “ Get Isabella’s things to the car, please.”The butler nodded and stepped out of the living room with my luggage in his hands.
Ryan turned to me, with a small smile on his face. “ Shall we, my dear?”
I nodded, feeling a sense of victory wash over me. I flipped my hair over my shoulder with a victorious smile on my face as I turned to my parents. “ I might be leaving for good, Dad. But, I’ll make sure to take back Mom’s company, even if it’s the last thing I do.”
With that, I turned and walked out of the house, with Ryan by my side.I laid on the plush bed, with my phone held lazily in one hand as I played Candy Crush. It had been two weeks since I moved out of my parent’s house and into Ryan’s mansion. It was a whirlwind of a change, but I had to admit, I was loving every minute of it.
Most days, I’d wake up early, get dressed, and head to college from Ryan’s house. But some days, like today, I’d decide to stay home and study. Ryan’s mansion was a peaceful oasis, and I found myself getting more work done here than I ever did at home.
But despite the peace and quiet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Ryan was always watching me. He’d often appear in the doorway of my room, a small smile on his face as he’d ask me what I was up to. It was a little unnerving, but at the same time, it made me feel safe and protected.
My phone buzzed, disrupting my game. Ryan’s name flashed across the screen. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what he wanted now. I sighed and answered.
“ What?”Ryan chuckled deeply from the other end of the line. “ Is that how you respond to your fiance?” He teased me.
I shrugged, feeling a little defensive. “ It’s not like this marriage thing is real, Ryan. It’s all on paper, and it’s just for us to act like couples in public. You don’t expect me to act all lovey-dovey with you when we’re alone, do you?”
Ryan chuckled softly, “ Anyway, it’s not like I’m asking much from you, Isabella.”
“ Have you seen the tabloids?”
I shook my head, feeling a little curious.
“ No. Why?”“ You’re going to classes today, right?”
I nodded, wondering where this was going. “ Yes.”
“ I’ll advise that after this call, you check it, before leaving for classes. Because you need to be mentally prepared for whatever attention and questions that’s gonna come your way.”
I frowned, feeling a little confused. “ I don’t know what you’re talking about, but anyway...”
I opened my phone, and my eyes widened as I saw the news headlines. “ Ryan West Officially Engaged to First Daughter of Genovese’s...”
I stared at my phone in shock, my eyes fixed on the news headline. “ Ryan West Officially Engaged to First Daughter of Genovese’s...”
I felt a surge of anger and frustration. Why did he have to announce it? Didn’t he know how much attention it would bring?
I quickly dialed Ryan’s number, my heart raced with anticipation. But to my surprise, he didn’t pick up. I knew he was seeing my calls, but he was deliberately ignoring me.
I gritted my teeth in frustration and dialed the secretary’s number instead. “ Hand the phone over to your boss, right now,” I demanded, my voice rising in anger.
The secretary hesitated, clearly taken aback by my tone. “ I-I’m sorry, Miss Isabella. Mr. Ryan is in a meeting right now...”
Isabella's POV. I couldn't stop fussing with my hair, even though Declan told me a hundred times that I looked beautiful. But to me it just felt ridiculous, all these efforts just for a dinner on the terrace?.But it wasn't just dinner. It was the first time since the hospital that things felt almost normal. Or maybe it was the first time they ever felt real. He had refused to let me lift a finger and he had arranged everything. They were candles everywhere and tiny twinkling lights, there was also a soft jam playlist floating through the warm night air. The table was set for two with white plates and white glasses that sparkled under the bulbs. Every decoration was very simple but somehow more intimate than any lavish gala we had ever attended together. “Stop looking so nervous Bella” Declan murmured, pressing a kiss to the side of my hair as he pulled out a chair for me to sit down on. “I promise I didn't poison the food” he said and I chuckled at his words.“No, that is not the
Isabella's POV.I never thought that the cold, sterile scent of a hospital could become my second skin. It clung to my hair, my clothes, and even my lungs. But hours before I had been in our living room with Declan. I was teasing him about his laughter when my whole world collapsed It was like my body instantly gave up and my legs scrambled beneath me as the floor hurried to take me away. And I felt a sharp pain in my chest before I finally lost consciousness. The next thing I realized was I could feel my body in Declan's arms. I could feel how his heart thundered against my cheeks as he cradled me in his arms.“Bella, please stay with me. Damn it. Just open your eyes Bella” he begged but I couldn't open my eyes. The darkness I felt was heavy and thick. But I also had the vibration of his voice and how frantic he carried me up, holding me like I was the most precious and fragile thing in the whole world.“Call the driver!” I heard Declan scream at someone but I didn't know who it w
Levi's POV.I never thought I could lose everything so damn quickly. One day, I was the man who walked into rooms with his head held high and who had investors lining up. I was once the man who slept like a king on silk sheets. But now what was it all about?. Now I was a joke. And a ghost of a man I used to be. I stared at the reflection in the dark mirror of my car. Boxes were piled up everywhere in my car and my assistant quit just two days ago. The bank had called in the last of my loans. And I was living on borrowed time, waiting for the final blow. And I knew exactly who to blame. It was Isabella and Declan Westwood. Together they had torn my life apart as though it was nothing to me and to them. And for what? because I had loved her too much and I refused to let go?. I slammed my fist through the glass as pain exploded up my arm.My life that was once beautiful had turned into a disaster. My entire life was shattered into tiny pieces but it wasn't enough to shut me down compl
Isabella's POV.I never thought I would be the kind of woman who sits at a polished table, calmly planning the financial downfall of someone who once swore he loved me.But here I was in the private conference room of Declan's estate as papers were placed before my table. Declan leaned back in his chair, watching me with that steady unreadable gaze of his that somehow made my pulse skip. He didn't say a word as he allowed me to take the lead, this was my war to fight and he was simply arming me.I traced a finger over the contract in front of me. “So once I sign this. Levi's company liquidity dries up and his investors will pull out. His loans will get called in and by Monday he is going to drown” I asked as Declan nodded his head at me.“Exactly. You are going to be squeezing him until he cannot breathe anymore. His empire even if it's small, compared to ours starts to crumble” he revealed and I swallowed hard as a strange heat coiled in my chest. Was it a triumph? Or guilt? God I w
Ryan's POV.I always thought that Cairo was predictable. But she was cunning and reckless in the way only a woman with nothing to lose could be.She had come to my office dozens of times and she wouldn't leave without singing My Name multiple times, or pressing her body close to me hoping to slip under my skin.Tonight was no different except from the fact that I was more irritable and more disgusted by my own thoughts. I was alone in my office with a glass of whiskey in my hand. My mind wasn't on Cairo instead it was on Isabella. On how she had laughed at me the last time I cornered her, and how she had clunged to Declan instead. My stomach twisted inside of me because I was angry. And I felt a pathetic ache that made me want to smash the glass in my hand just to feel it cut. Then the door swung open without a knock. Cairo stepped inside, wearing a silk dress that barely clung to her curves. Her hair was styled in loose waves as her perfume instantly hit me.“Ryan” she called out my
Declan's POV.I hadn't slept properly in days. My home office was littered with empty coffees and cold takeout boxes.Half of the boxes were stained with sauce I didn't even remember eating. The screen in front of me kept replaying the damn tape that had wrecked Isabella's life.Over and over again even when her face twisted in pain as she felt humiliated in front of the whole world. Except now. When I saw that it was all fake.“We have run the footage through multiple detection models” Jason said as he pushed his glasses up.Jason had been my lead tech guy for years and I didn't fail to notice the way his eyes darted nervously. He was terrified of me and it was for a good reason. I had screamed at them non-stop for the past forty eight hours.“And what else?” I demanded with a rough voice.“Everything is AI manipulated and the facial movement doesn't match the micro muscle patterns. The voice is cloned and as you can see here” he said as he pointed at the screen, his fingers trembli
