CHAPTER HUNDRED AND THIRTY

Coming back to the room after he'd been in the study for a while hadn't been in the plan when Ryder had started working this morning.

If anything, he'd had every plan of going to check on Karen and their visitors just to be sure they were fine and didn't need anything, but he'd found himself going upstairs instead.

He could blame it on his impatience to break the news of his new contract to Bree or on his thoroughly thought out pretext of needing an aspirin from the medicine cabinet in their bathroom.

But either one it was, it saw him up the stairs and back into the room he'd only just left not too long ago.

No wonder this working from home thing wasn't exactly working out well for him.

He's been so easily tempted by the knowledge that she was only in a next room or something and recently he's found his control wearing thinner and thinner everyday.

He'd made it up the stairs and back into the room with the news hanging at the tip of his tongue, but to his surprise, she wasn't in it.
