17. TAKING HIS HANDS

Tom was, although taken aback a bit by the sudden declaration, but he was still happy that she had agreed to hop on the offer he presented to her. He was glad that his plans would press further now, and if the universe permitted, it would soar faster than he expected.

“Let’s meet tomorrow then, I have to go”, she said to him.

“Are you still at work? I can hear cars honking around”, he asked.

“I.. am going.. ho.. me… I just stayed back to do something”, she stuttered as she tried to cover up.

“I see! I will communicate the meeting time to you tomorrow”, he added, and disconnected the call.

She sighed in relief and folded her fist in determination as she walked aimlessly into the street. It was then she realized that she hadn’t picked her bag from the house and her card, purse or anything that contained her identity. Her money was not on her.

“Sh*t” she spat out.
