19. SON OF A GUN

She waited with Maria in front of the elevator, and Tom ended up meeting them there. She turned to him slightly and bowed a little.

“Good afternoon, CEO TOM”, she greeted him and he nodded.

“It’s been a while, I hope everything is not out of place?” he asked with his hands in his pockets.

“It kind of felt off, but then it’s the work I have been doing for the past two years, so I believe I will adjust soon enough”, she answered with a quick smile.

“Let’s go to my office, we still have issues to settle”, he instructed, and they all got on the open elevator.

Maria, who was lost in the discussion, just stood behind them in silence as she wondered why Amber was back there in the first place. She kept thinking about what the said issues could be but nothing was coming to her head and that made her release an exhausted sigh.

Tom and Amber marched to the CEO’s office as soon as they stepped out of the elevator.
