Chapter 57

CHARLOTTA

"Go and brew me some coffee." Bruce gave an order while circling the printed words on the file he was holding with the tip of his pen.

"Okay, sir." I gave him a nod before yawning and heading to the kitchen to brew him coffee.

With a small sigh, I walked towards the coffee maker in the kitchen. I set about measuring the coffee beans and filling the machine with water.

How was I going to approach Bruce about the code? My mind ran through various scenarios, each one seeming riskier than the last.

Would he see through my act if I tried to pry information out of the code? Or would he let something slip if I feigned innocent interest?

The coffee finished brewing, and I poured the hot liquid into a mug. My mind still reeling, I carefully placed the cup in a tray.

I scurried out of the kitchen back to the living room and placed the tray on the table in front of him. I said, "Your coffee, Sir.”

He looked up from his file, looked at the coffee, dropped the files on the table, picked
