AURORA'S POV

The plants here were vibrant, almost unnatural during this time of the year. I wondered if perhaps, long ago, a nature wielder had tended this place.

I inhaled deeply, when suddenly,

A soft cry drifted through the garden, so faint I almost thought I imagined it.

I paused mid-step, my brows pulled together as I listened.

The sound came again, quieter this time, shaky and broken. Definitely not from an animal. It carried the unmistakable waver of a child holding back sobs.

My stomach tightened.

I turned toward the sound, moving slowly through the hedges and shadowed trees until it led me to a small figure curled at the base of a thick, old trunk. He looked so small in comparison, knees pulled to his chest, face buried in his arms.

A little boy.

His hair was dark and messy, sticking to his damp cheeks. His shoulders trembled with each quiet sniffle.

My heart clenched. Something about the sight hit far too close to the core of me, pulling up memories I tried not to visit.

  • THE COLD CURSED ALHPA’S HYBRID MATE   UNWANTED ATTRACTION, UNAVOIDABLE PROXIMITY

AURORA'S POV Before I could ask what he was staring at, his hand came up. He took my chin in his grip, fingers cool and firm, and turned my face to the side.“For a hybrid,” he muttered, “you sure bruise easily.”His thumb brushed the light wound on my cheek and only then did I realize I must have bruised myself earlier I hadn't even realized. When his thumb grazed the bruise a second time, I sucked in a breath.I'd injured myself without even noticing.Of course, I had. Typical. He held my face for another heartbeat, studying the small mark as it offended him. Like the idea of me being hurt, even accidentally, disturbed him. Then he let go.×××Later, just as he’d said earlier, food and water were brought to the room. A tray so full it should’ve belonged in a feast, not just a single meal. I ignored any table etiquette and ate greedily, devouring everything until my stomach hummed with satisfaction. He had gone to the bath while I ate. I assumed he’d stay in the bathroom for anothe

  • THE COLD CURSED ALHPA’S HYBRID MATE   BETWEEN HIS ANGER AND MY PULSE

AURORA'S POV Her muscles relaxed, tension faded from her body. Her aura, once dim and flickering, steadied faintly. It worked. Not fully, not completely perfect, but enough.By the time I pulled my hand back, a bead of sweat slipped down my temple. The drug made it harder, much harder, but healing magic was the first art of sorcery I had ever mastered. It had been my favorite lesson.I blinked, finally opening my eyes. The boy was staring at me...frozen.Terrified.His eyes were bulging out wide as he'd just found out the girl he led to their home was a witch. He stood frozen for the longest time and when his lips parted, I thought he wanted to yell but instead."Mama!"The boy’s voice split the quiet room like a sharp crack of lightning. He bolted forward, tripping over his own small feet as he scrambled to his mother’s bedside. His hands flew to her wrist, her cheek, her arm, basically touching anything he could, as though afraid she would vanish if he blinked too long. Her eyes f

  • THE COLD CURSED ALHPA’S HYBRID MATE   THE GARDEN OF NEAR-DEATH

AURORA'S POV The land ahead stretched endlessly, edged by hills, tall trees dancing in the breeze, and men training in the distance. Everyone's life continued outside, unaware or uncaring of the girl trapped in the Alpha’s chamber. My eyes fluttered shut.My thoughts drifted off to one personColt. His voice echoed through my memory. His words about my father. The council. The vote to force him to step down.Had they succeeded? If yes...What had they done to him?Was my father alive?Safe?A weight pressed against my chest, so heavy it hurt to breathe.Over here, locked away in this prison, I could do nothing but worry. Nothing but imagine the worst. Nothing but stand helplessly as the world outside moved without me.I pressed my forehead against the cold windowFor the first time since being held in this pack, a tear slipped down my cheek but I wiped it away angrily.I wouldn’t break. Not here. Not like this. What a twisted joke fate had written for me.I tightened my grip on the w

  • THE COLD CURSED ALHPA’S HYBRID MATE   PRISONER OF THE FULL MOON

AURORA'S pov I woke up to the soft chirps of birds. At first, the sound felt distant, as if it were far away, but as consciousness washed over me, it grew louder.A thin sliver of sunlight spilled through the window, stretching across my face like warm fingers. A faint smell of herbs drifted from somewhere in the corner, mixing with a strong masculine scent that I seemed to recognize. It clung stubbornly to the air.I shifted slightly, and the sheets rustled beneath me. A sudden tight sting in my leg reminded me of the previous day. The arrow. The pain. It all returned in an overwhelming rush.My breathing stilled.I blinked fully awake. My vision cleared and settled on the man sitting in front of me.His eyes were already on me, as though he’d been watching me for some time.Waiting.Monitoring.Guarding.The faint morning light traced the edge of his face, strong jawline, dark lashes, thick brows, it made him look both unreal and entirely too real at the same time.“Glad you’re a

AURORA'S POV My hands curled tightly around the edge of the table.Everything hurt.Everything was wrong.Suddenly, the door swung open and someone walked inLucian. He'd already shifted back to his human form but still carried faint steam. A loose shirt clung to him, half buttoned, and dark pants hung low on his hips, no doubt he'd rushed his way here after shifting. His eyes burned the moment they landed on me.He strode forward."Kai, go get rid of that mess "He instructed the man who brought me here and Kai stiffened. For the first time since I’d met him, I saw unease flicker beneath his expression. But he didn’t argue. Without a single word, he left the room.My stomach twisted.Mess? My mind flashed back to the girl’s head rolling across the dirt. Was that the mess he meant?Had he seen what they did to meWas that why he attacked themBefore I could stop myself, my gaze rose to his face. His jaw was tight, his shoulders tense, his eyes nearly glowing with fury. He looked like
