LOGINElara’s POV
“She’s not yours, Kael. She’s mine.”
The hall went silent, as we all turned to the voice to see Alpha Ragner on his feet as he glared at my Kael.
“She was my bid….now back off. I have plans for her already.” He said and my body shivered at what plans he had for me.
“You are welcome to place a bet higher than that but if you can’t beat it. I advise you to sit this out.” Kael’s cold voice sent shivers into me and I was sure it wasn't just me.
As my silver eyes glanced through the both of them. I swallowed hard. This was not going to end well.
“Just because you think that you are on top of the food chain doesn't mean you can come in and take what doesn't belong to you, Kael.” Ragner said with a growl.
Kael’s golden eyes began to glimmer as his Alpha powers began to sip out of him, “that’s exactly what it means, Ragner.”
Ragner’s wolf felt the threat and his Alpha energy began sipping out and trying to dominate the room but Kael’s wolf was stronger and in the blink of an eye, Kael was in front of Ragner, his fangs were out and he snarled at him. Ragner snarled back.
Kael punched him hard and he flew at least six feet across the room, as everyone gasped hard.
“Anyone else?” He asked and everyone shrinked into their seat in fear.
“Good….” He turned to his guards and ordered “bring her”.
The guards immediately picked me up without questioning, pushing through the entrance.
*********************************************
The journey to the midnight Fang pack was filled with aches over my body, followed by mind blowing numbness. The chain on my wrist was cutting through it and it was raw. The guards did not bother to speak to me, if they needed me anywhere, they would drag me there.
We finally reached the pack borders and I saw tall spiked walls of iron and old stone. The skies above were grey –like a storm was coming.
The pack was beautiful and I understood why it was at the top of the food chain. They looked happy and everything was looking good but for some reason, I felt shivers running down my spine.
The land felt colder–just like him.
We finally got to the castle, it was huge and ten times bigger than the one in the blood ridge pack. The guards led me through the narrow halls, with guards positioned at every station. Their faces were cold and void of emotions.
No one looked at me directly and it was like I was invisible again.
We got to a gate and we paused while the two guards talked with the guards at the gate.
“Servant’s quarter.” I heard the gatekeeper say, “put her in cage six.”
My brows furrowed. "Cage? I thought I was a servant, why would I be in a cage?” I thought to myself.
We moved to the cage, and I was flabbergasted. This place wasn't fit for any living species to be in – but this was where I would stay? It wasn't just a tiny room, it had no bed or anything to lay on.
The first guards left and opened the door. It was a rusted iron door and he pushed me inside. The smell of mold and blood reeked in my nostrils. The cage was so little that it was barely enough for me to kneel. At the side of the cage was a pile of straw and a rusted bowl filled with water.
I was about to pass out due to exhaustion and that’s when I saw him.
Kael—he was standing at the end of the hallway, he was watching. Has he been there the whole time?
I froze–fear creeping in.
Even though he stood at a far distance, his presence was like a magnet and it was pulling me in. He was so tall and built like the god of vengeance. His bright golden eyes were like the fire burning through his frozen mask.
I tried to look away but for some reason–I couldn't.
Without a word, he walked away and it shattered the moment I thought we had.
“I can see that you like staring at what isn't yours.” a voice sneered beside me. It was a beautiful girl and she looked like the dazzling moonlight.
“get her out!” She commanded and the guards opened the cage and brought me out and stood me before her
“Look at me!” She commanded and I raised my head
SMACK!
She hit me so hard across the face. The sound echoed hard across the hall. The pain exploded across my cheeks as I fell against the iron bars.
The lady stood over me–she was tall, poised and her flaming red hair and eyes were burning with disgust and hate. She wore a black velvet dress and she had her shoulders raised in pride like she believed the whole world owed her everything.
“I am Liora Vexen” she said in a cool tone, as she knelt down, her breath brushing slightly against my face, “I am the future Luna of this pack.”
My heart picked up its pace.
“I see the way you look at him.” She whispered, smiling mischievously. “you are a pathetic little thing who dares to dream.”
“I….I didn't” I croaked, trying to explain.
She grabbed a fistful of my hair before I could complete my statement, yanking my hair back, as I yelped out in pain, “ DON’T LIE TO ME, OMEGA!” She yelled at me stilll yanking my hair. “You are nothing but a dirty little whore. A whore was put in chains to make my Kael feel pity for you but he won't….do you know why?” She asked and I kept quiet not trying to anger her more but it did the opposite.
“ANSWER ME, WHORE!” She yelled.
“No ma’am..” I choked on my answer
She bent down to my ears, “he is mine!” I winced in pain. My scalp was burning and I could feel her nails digging keep into my skin.
She shoved my head against the iron bar as pain flooded my body.
“You are nothing. You will be dead before the next full moon.” Liora hissed, “that's a promise, slut.”
She rose and turned to leave with two maids beside as tears flooded out of my eyes. I did not fight as the guards dragged me back to my cage.
I just wanted to end this harsh reality of mine.
Kael’s POV The Red Moon turned the night into something out of a nightmare. The moment it crested fully above the ridge, the air changed, it thickened until it felt like breathing through smoke. The mountain groaned beneath our feet, as if it could sense the power being called from it.And then there was Elara. She stood in the center of the balcony, flames curling off her body like silk ribbons. Her hair floated weightlessly, her eyes molten gold. Every breath she took sent shockwaves through the air. The torches below had gone out, the wolves had fallen to their knees, and even the wind bowed to her.I had seen power before from Alpha Kings, ancient spirits, old gods whispered in myths but none of them had ever looked like this. None of them had ever been her.“Elara,” I tried again, my voice raw. “You have to stop…….”She didn’t even seem to hear me. Her gaze was locked on Magnus, her lips moving soundlessly, her fingers curled as the energy bled through her skin in veins of gold.
Elara’s POVThe Red Moon rose like an omen.By the time its light spilled through the clouds, the entire mountain seemed to pulse with it—slow, heavy, alive. The air shimmered with energy that made the hair on my arms rise. Every breath burned a little hotter than the last, like the night itself was feeding something inside me.I stood on the balcony outside Kael’s chambers, my hands gripping the cold stone rail as the first streaks of crimson light crawled across the horizon. The moon wasn’t silver tonight—it was blood-red, vast and merciless. Its reflection painted my skin in shades of fire and shadow.Something deep in my chest stirred.A heartbeat. Not my own.I closed my eyes and tried to steady myself, but the power thrummed louder, coiling around my ribs, pressing against my throat. It felt ancient—wild and impatient—as if it had been waiting for this night.“Elara?”Kael’s voice came from behind me, rough and low. When I turned, he looked almost unreal in the moonlight. The cr
Elara’s POV The council room buzzed with tension long before anyone spoke. The torches burned low, casting restless shadows over the long stone table. Storm was pacing, Milo leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, and Jack sat at the far end, spinning a dagger between his fingers.Jones was the last to arrive. He shut the door behind him with a quiet thud, and the sound made everyone look up.“So,” he said, dragging a chair out. “We’re really doing this.”Storm shot him a glare. “What, did you think we’d just sit around and wait for the King to knock on our door?”“I’m saying,” Jones replied, calm as ever, “if we’re going to challenge the Alpha King on the night of the Red Moon, we better have more than bravado.”Kael wasn’t here, he’d gone to speak with the patrols. That left me to face the Circle on my own, which, honestly, didn’t bother me.“He’s right,” I said, taking the seat nearest to the head of the table. “Magnus will come prepared. He won’t risk losing control of me
Elara’s POV Kael didn’t come back to bed.I waited until the last candle burned down, the shadows stretching long and deep across the walls. Every time I thought I heard footsteps outside my door, my heart leapt, hoping it was him but it never was. Only silence, heavy and patient, pressing against me from every side.Sleep refused to come. My thoughts kept circling back to the Oracle’s words, looping through my mind like a curse.“The flame inside her will choose”.It should have been a comfort, to have the choice, to have control but it wasn’t. Because I knew what she hadn’t said aloud, if the flame inside me chose wrong, it wouldn’t just burn me. It would consume everything I loved. And that meant Kael. When the first sliver of dawn crept across the room, I couldn’t stay still any longer. I threw on my cloak and left my chamber, drawn by something I couldn’t name. The halls were quiet, the kind of quiet that made every sound feel too loud, the echo of my footsteps, the rustle of
Kael’s POVThe Oracle’s words echoed in my skull long after we left the temple. The flame inside her will choose. The moonlight followed us across the courtyard, pale and sharp, slicing through the silence that none of us dared to break. The others walked ahead—Storm muttering curses under his breath, Milo kicking at loose stones, Jack keeping his distance like always—but all I could see was Elara’s face. The way her eyes had gone distant when the Oracle spoke. The tremor in her voice when she asked, What if I choose wrong?I’d promised her we’d fight it together. But the truth clawed at me, cold and merciless. How do you fight destiny? When we reached the clearing, I finally spoke. “We head back to the fortress tonight. No detours.”Storm gave me a sharp look. “You mean we run away.”“Don’t start,” I warned. He didn’t stop. “You heard her, Kael. The King’s waiting for the next full moon. We can’t just hole up in the fortress and hope he changes his mind.”I turned on him so fast that
Elara’s POV “I still think this is a mistake,” Storm muttered as we crossed the temple courtyard.Kael shot him a glare sharp enough to silence a lesser wolf. “We’re out of options. If Magnus won’t tell us the truth, we’ll get it from someone who will.”I followed them through the stone archway, my pulse thudding in my throat. The mark at my collarbone still glowed faintly beneath my cloak, a silver warmth that refused to fade. Every heartbeat reminded me of Magnus’s words, you were never meant to be a wolf.Jack walked beside me, his expression unreadable. “The Oracle doesn’t see just anyone, you know. She refused the Alpha King himself once.”“Then she’ll see me,” Kael said firmly. “She owes the Midnight Fang pack.”Milo snorted. “Pretty sure she doesn’t owe anyone. Last time I saw her, she said my fate smelled like fish.”That earned a faint, nervous laugh from me. The tension needed breaking. When we reached the temple doors, Jack pressed his palm against the engraved moon sigil
