Kael’s POV

The council chamber loomed ahead, its stone doors carved with symbols of wolves, crowns, and fire. I had stood before this council countless times, had commanded their attention and bent their doubts to my will. But tonight, I walked in with the weight of something heavier—Elara.

Her name was on their tongues, though they didn’t dare speak it loudly yet. I could feel it, the unease running like a current beneath the air.

The doors creaked open as Jack pushed them aside, stepping in first. I followed, my strides deliberate, powerful, as if daring anyone in the room to challenge me.

The chamber was lit by towering braziers, firelight dancing over the faces of the council members seated in their semicircle. Ten of them, cloaked in dark garments, their expressions ranging from wary to calculating.

“Alpha Kael.” Elder Marek, the council’s newly appointed head after Take had been suspended, rose from his seat, his voice heavy with authority. His hair was white as snow, but his ey

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX

Elara’s POV The mountain screamed beneath us. The sky burned, a bleeding wound of gold and crimson.Magnus’s laughter echoed through the smoke, cold and unshaken, even as fire tore across his body. His power pressed against mine like a living thing. It was dark, suffocating, and hungry. The shadowflame lashed toward me again, twisting into serpents of smoke and heat. I threw up my hands, golden light bursting outward, shattering his attack mid-air.Every movement hurts. My veins felt molten, my skin alive with fire. The bond between Kael and me pulsed faintly in the distance—his fear, his fury but I shut it out. This was mine. My fight.Magnus’s voice cut through the roar. “You think you can destroy what you are? The flame is not yours to wield but mine!”He struck. His shadowfire collided with my light, and the explosion sent both of us flying. I hit the ground hard, stone cracking beneath me. My hands shook as I pushed myself up. My fire flickered, weaker now, sputtering in the co

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FIVE

Elara’s POV The night refused to end.The moon—what was left of it—hung bruised and bleeding in the sky, its crimson light flickering like a dying flame. Below it, the battlefield burned. Wolves clashed in waves, fur and steel and blood blending into one endless, screaming blur. Every breath I took tasted of ash and magic. The air itself felt heavy, suffocating, alive with the pulse of too much power.Kael was a golden blur before me, tearing through Lycans that tried to reach me. Storm’s spells flared in the distance, weaving shields of blue fire through the ranks. Milo and Jones fought back to back, their snarls blending with the cries of dying enemies. The entire mountain was alive with chaos and at the center of it all stood Magnus. He was waiting. He stood on the ridge above the battlefield, his black cloak billowing in the wind, his army moving like shadows beneath him. His eyes, those burning crimson eyes never left me. He wasn’t fighting anymore. He was watching and trying to

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FOUR

Elara’s POV The growl that rolled down from the mountains wasn’t mortal. It carried through the valley like thunder, shaking the stones beneath my feet. Birds fled from the treeline, the air split open, and the taste of iron and ash filled my lungs.I stood on what was left of the courtyard, Kael beside me, his hand hovering protectively near my back. Storm and the others had already moved to formation below, their armor glinting faintly under the fading light. The Red Moon had retreated behind the clouds, but its power still lingered in the air like a curse that refused to fade.He was coming.I could feel him.“Magnus,” I whispered. The name itself made the wind tremble.Kael’s hand brushed mine. “Stay close. Don’t listen to him.” His voice was firm, but I heard the edge beneath it, the fear he tried to hide. The bond between us pulsed steady and strong, anchored by Storm’s spell. It felt different now, solid, like roots planted deep in the earth but even so, a part of me could st

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-THREE

Storm’s POV The Red Moon still hung over the mountains like a wound that refused to close. Its light bled across the stones, painting everything in crimson. The air reeked of burnt magic, blood, something older than all of us combined.I moved through the courtyard, my boots crunching on shattered marble. The fires had gone out, but the heat still pulsed from the cracks beneath the ground. Elara lay unconscious in Kael’s arms, her skin pale against the fading gold of her mark.Kael looked nothing like the Alpha I’d followed into countless battles. His shoulders were bowed, his face streaked with soot and blood. He was murmuring her name like a prayer. “Elara… come back to me.”I knelt beside them, pressing my palm against the ground. The magic residue made my veins hum in protest, it was wild, ancient and unstable. “She’s not gone,” I said, though the words felt heavy. “But something’s wrong.”Kael lifted his head. His eyes glowed faintly, the wolf barely restrained beneath his grie

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-TWO

Kael’s POV The Red Moon turned the night into something out of a nightmare. The moment it crested fully above the ridge, the air changed, it thickened until it felt like breathing through smoke. The mountain groaned beneath our feet, as if it could sense the power being called from it.And then there was Elara. She stood in the center of the balcony, flames curling off her body like silk ribbons. Her hair floated weightlessly, her eyes molten gold. Every breath she took sent shockwaves through the air. The torches below had gone out, the wolves had fallen to their knees, and even the wind bowed to her.I had seen power before from Alpha Kings, ancient spirits, old gods whispered in myths but none of them had ever looked like this. None of them had ever been her.“Elara,” I tried again, my voice raw. “You have to stop…….”She didn’t even seem to hear me. Her gaze was locked on Magnus, her lips moving soundlessly, her fingers curled as the energy bled through her skin in veins of gold.

  • THE COLD WOLF'S MATE    CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-ONE

Elara’s POVThe Red Moon rose like an omen.By the time its light spilled through the clouds, the entire mountain seemed to pulse with it—slow, heavy, alive. The air shimmered with energy that made the hair on my arms rise. Every breath burned a little hotter than the last, like the night itself was feeding something inside me.I stood on the balcony outside Kael’s chambers, my hands gripping the cold stone rail as the first streaks of crimson light crawled across the horizon. The moon wasn’t silver tonight—it was blood-red, vast and merciless. Its reflection painted my skin in shades of fire and shadow.Something deep in my chest stirred.A heartbeat. Not my own.I closed my eyes and tried to steady myself, but the power thrummed louder, coiling around my ribs, pressing against my throat. It felt ancient—wild and impatient—as if it had been waiting for this night.“Elara?”Kael’s voice came from behind me, rough and low. When I turned, he looked almost unreal in the moonlight. The cr
