LENA

It was the first words I have said since an hour of silence and not wanting to read her expression or reply, I shoved her gently to get inside.

When I did, his name was all I called;

"Zain!"

My eyes searches for him through the corners and I could hear the stomping feet of yera behind me.

"Hey, stop acting like a mad woman in my house! How can you be his wife?"

I spur around to look at her as she stared at me in disgust. Did she fucking say this is her house?

A place I built with my sweat, blood and tears?

"I'd call the security on you if you don't leave!" She brawled infuriated as she reach out for my shoulder blade.

Yera was annoyed just like I was.

I almost said a word when i heard zain's voice from adjacent where I stood.

He was coming from his room in an Ice Wolves hoodie, staring at me with an expression that depicts hate and detest or panic rather.

The Ice Wolves logo across his chest felt like a blade.

"Lena" he whispers and then dart his gaze to Yera who strides to his side.

"It's not true right? I mean it's just a joke? I couldn't make it and...and she took my place? You aren't dating right?" I began smiling, trying to hide the shock in my eyes and even though I was shivering.

Yera purposely shoved the ring in her index finger to my face and he said;

"Cupcake, please can you stay in the room for now, I'd handle this woman"

Yera eyed me as he kissed her passionately. With no words, she faded to the room.

My diluted eyes fetched his burning gaze as the vein around his neck tightens.

"It's true. I'm getting married Lena, you shouldn't ruin this for me by appearing here!"

"What?" I struggled to muttered as my throat burns.

"Then what happens to me! How could you!" I screech clenching my fists.

My whole body sizzles with anguish.

"You're no longer fun, and I never like you, it's yera"

I stood frozen, his declaration felt like ice shard in my chest.

"You were having an affair! When all I do is to hold this family together!" I screamed.

He clenched his fists and grit his teeth.

"You decided to do that, today? What happened to us? The dreams of sticking together?" I calmly questioned.

Even standing properly was difficult as I couldn't breath, my chest tightened.

"You suffocate me, nothing has ever work for me with you! That's why I took this step" He roars.

"I need to breath from you Lena, you think everything is about you!"

Silence.

"Fucking say something Lena!"

Silence.

"You can't blame me, yera is everything I need, she's an icon and the woman I long to be with. With her, I'd finally get a chance to become a successor to my father the alpha king..."

I was too shattered to even answer.

He was an outcast from his pack, disowned because he was wolfless and we met in college.

He was a victim of bully and I did my best to stand up for him, to build the confidence he has today as captain of the Ice Wolves.

Now, I am a problem? Why does it hurt so much that I want to pass out.

My lips parted but no sound came out.

"I have dreams Lena" his voice whispers in a cold tone as I scoffed with a shaky lips.

"I just lost my sister..."

"Lena, I just got my dreams, I can't ruin a happy moment just to solicit with you"

"You should have just divorced me, you should have never proposed, you should have never let me sacrifice my wolf but you heartlessly went on to fool me!"

There was no wolf in me to growl back. Just empty silence.

He went speechless and said;

"I emailed you the divorce papers, leave me alone Lena, accept the fact that you're a lonely, clingy woman who wants attention and I can't give that to you"

I sniffed and covered my face. How could he be so heartless!

Everyone is leaving me behind. First my parents, my sister and now, Zain!

I couldn't even argue, all I did was pull out my ring and throw it at his face.

"I wish you a happy, married life" I said in a low tone.

Zain draws in a long breath.

"What are you saying Lena? Curse at me! hit me, say something to hurt, give me a reason to..."

He paused and just nodded while squatting to pick the ring.

"Fine and I hope we never cross path after now"

"Goodbye" I calmly said and turned my back.

"Aren't you packing your things?"

"Give it to your miserable wife" I snapped and catwalked to the door.

I spur the door open and shockingly that car was still waiting for me.

Subconsciously, I got inside the passenger's seat and slammed the door.

I collapsed on the seat, folding myself like a ball as my hand rise to cover mouth.

This can't be true, not like this.

"Are you acquainted with him?" The stranger questioned.

I wasn't in my right state of mind to reply.

Sniffing, I took my hands from my mouth and sat properly.

His eyes were gazing at me now, like he'd want to hold me but constrained himself.

"That's in the past" I responded, leaning to the glassy window.

It was like i want Zain to be out there, running after me, but all see is nothing but the isolated space.

"Do you have somewhere else to go?" His voice was soothing.

I'm still not familiar with the face but I don't want to return to my sister's place or else I might kill myself.

"Take me to your place" I replied acting all sassy rather than soaking my bed with tears.

"Do you trust me that much to take me with you?" He suddenly asked, like he was danger himself.

"As long as you wouldn't murder me" I muttered sniffing.

He grunt softly and whispered; "You asked for it"

While struggling to get out, I accidentally broke his handle in anger. He got out and opened the car for me and just as I intended to step out, he suddenly carried me in his arms. "I can walk" I protested in a weak tone. "You have no shoes on, you've walked enough" My hands grabbed a fistful of his shirt as he walks me inside. The blinding lights flooded me. LENAI still had my mourning dress on, my eyes swollen with tears as I stared at her grave which has been decorated with flowers. My fingers run through the pendant we both had as a gift but now, I wear hers. The silver chain pelted against my skin, like it always does when my wolf is angry.
