LENA

I still had my mourning dress on, my eyes swollen with tears as I stared at her grave which has been decorated with flowers.

My fingers run through the pendant we both had as a gift but now, I wear hers.

The silver chain pelted against my skin, like it always does when my wolf is angry.

While everyone were under an umbrella, I stood in the rain, my black dress received the lashes of being irresponsible, of never hearing her out while she was in pain.

Her last call to me was;

"I hate you"

I couldn't be there for my sister when she needed me the most, all I just wanted to do was impress my husband that I forgot about the people who were important to me.

Weak, my feet dragged me inside the family house were they were mourners too but their voices were blurry.

No one recognizes me here, except that they just got to know that I was her sister.

My husband, Zain was meant to be here but work has kept him far away.

He'd be playing for the nationals today, captain of the Ice Wolves, and can't leave behind all his dreams just to be here with me but it was okay.

I sat on the floor twirling my wedding ring, my dull eyes observed the room.

It turns out my little sister was a famous model.

According to report, it was suicide, due to anxiety and depression, exactly what happened with mother who took her life right in front of me.

She fell off the balcony, leaving behind a letter which I was scared to open.

The guilt still eats me up as my chest tightened so hard that I couldn't breath.

My claws prick against my palms and I had to hide my hands.

Why do I have to lose another important person in my life?

I hugged my knees and kept staring at the TV an old man had switched on.

I desperately needed a call from Zain, to tell me that it's fine and I'd come out of this trauma.

When a familiar voice whispers, I turned and it was my husband, Zain on the screen in his Ice Wolves jersey, sweat dripping.

I scurried to the screen, obstructing everyone that were watching, someone had to pull me aside.

Zain won, holding the cup, breathless as his glassy blue eyes sparks with delight.

The Ice Wolves logo gleamed behind him.

Tears streamed from my eyes as I placed my palms on my chest.

There were chants in the background, "Zain! Zain! Zain!"

But he wasn't alone... there was a woman standing beside him in a team jacket, holding his hand.

Her cheeks flushes red. My heart flipped as it became difficult for me to swallow.

I didn't like the way he was staring at her, like she's the only thing that matters.

Possibly, she was his partner at work.

The loud roar behind me made my heart beat stop.

"Finally, he's getting married to alpha Gary's daughter!"

His fans cheered like it wasn't a funeral they were in.

"I've always shipped them, she’s always in the VIP box whenever he plays" a young girl pats me on the shoulder.

I grew unnaturally still.

"Married?" I muttered as the word seems heavy in my mouth.

The scent of betrayal hit my nose and made me gag.

"So sir, who would you love to appreciate for your success today?"

He shift his gaze from the camera and faced yera, smiling with those fangs I used to love.

"I just want to say thank you to yera for always being there..."

"Awwn!" The crowd teased but my chest swells with grief.

This was my sister's funeral and even now, Zain steals the spotlight.

"Guys, his wedding is in a week" a juvenile runs to show his phone yet I didn't react as my head burns with despair.

I found myself outside, my feet pound on the wet floor.

The street was empty and I just stood in the middle of the road, broken yet no tear drops except the soft platter of rain on my face.

The rain couldn’t wash away the smell of him and her on the screen.

A car honks but I couldn't move, it's like I'd want to be hit to wake me up from this nightmare.

Just when the car was an inche to me, it halts and the headlights blinds my vision.

Adrenaline pumps inside me, as though it propelled me to just die.

"Do you have a death wish?" A cold tone questioned.

"Please, take me home"

That's the only line that could slip out.

The umbrella that he held over his head covers me.

I caught his scent, cinnamon and lilies but it wasn't wolf.

"Are you alright Ms?" He asked, his voice more calmer.

I paced to the front wheel of his car while he hurried with the umbrella.

Once I took my sit, he got inside and switched on the heater.

I suddenly felt something warmer on me, a coat that smells like leather and cold air.

His hands were mild on my shoulders as he wraps me up.

I saw it then, his hazel eyes, his blonde hair, and the faint scar on his throat like he’d been bitten once.

"This will keep you safe from the cold" he whispers, and then he starts the drive.

As soon as he brought me home, I jumped out and ran to the front porch.

I didn't look back.

Nervously, I ran the doorbell, impatient. It took four attempts.

The stranger's car was still there, engine idling, waiting.

The door spur open and I found Yera, smiling warmly at me in a team jersey.

"Are you a hard-die fan too? Or the cleaner?"

I scoffed unbelievably.

"His wife"

Gary MovesALPHA GARYThe call came before sunrise, when most of the house was still quiet and my security team had not yet started the morning shift. I answered without checking the number because only a handful of people had access to this line, and the man on the other end knew better than to call me unless he had something important.“Zain has confirmed it,” the man said. “Lena Blackwood is pregnant.”I leaned back in my chair and looked toward the dark windows. “And the child?”“He believes it is his.”I gave a small nod, though he could not see me. Zain being the father was useful information, but it was not the part of the report that interested me most.“Is there anything else?”There was a pause before the man answered. “There is a bigger problem, Alpha.”I waited.“The Blackwood bloodline has awakened.”My fingers stopped against the arm of the chair. For several seconds, I said nothing because those words carried more weight than any pregnancy ever could.“Are you certai

The Alpha Who StayedAARON“Then why are you telling my wife to come back with you?” I asked, staring at Zain across the entrance hall. My voice stayed low, but my demon wolf had already lifted its head, reacting to the tension rolling through the room.Zain's eyes moved from me to Lena, then back again. “Because she is carrying my child, and I have a right to be involved.”“You have a right to be involved with your child,” I said. “You do not have a right to decide where Lena lives or who she stays with.”His expression hardened. “You know the child is mine.”“I know the biological facts.” I stepped closer, keeping my body between him and Lena without blocking her from view. “What I will not accept is you using those facts to frighten her into doing what you want.”Zain gave a humorless laugh. “You think you are protecting her, but you took advantage of her when she was vulnerable.”The accusation hit harder than I expected, not because I believed it, but because Lena had already s

Zain Finds OutZAINI found out Lena was pregnant because one of my father's people mentioned it during a meeting I had not expected to matter. He said it casually, as if he were discussing another business development, but the moment I heard Lena's name beside the word pregnancy, I stopped listening to everything else.“How far along?” I asked, and the man looked at me with mild surprise before giving me the estimate he had heard. I did the calculation in my head immediately, and the answer seemed obvious enough that I did not question it.The timing matched the last period when Lena and I had still been connected. We had been separated for months by then, but I knew the dates well enough to believe the child had to be mine.I sat alone in my office after the meeting and stared at the city through the glass. Lena was carrying my child, and somehow that single fact made every memory I had tried to bury come rushing back.I remembered her in college, sitting across from me with boo

LENAAaron was still gripping the edge of the table when the pain inside him finally eased enough for him to breathe normally. His face had gone pale, and the words he had just repeated from the demon kept running through my mind.“Use my bloodline to destroy it, or let it consume you,” I said quietly, trying to make sense of what I had heard. Aaron nodded once, and I could see from his expression that he had understood the same thing I had.“The demon believes your power can destroy it,” he said. “If I use you to do that, it may be forced out of me, but I have no idea what happens to you afterward.”“And if you do nothing?” I asked. Aaron looked away before answering.“It keeps getting stronger until it takes control completely.” His jaw tightened as he added, “Eventually, there may be nothing left of me for you to save.”I refused to accept either choice. There had to be another way to separate Aaron from the demon without turning my bloodline into a weapon or allowing the creature

AARONThe sentence from the Blackwood record stayed in my head long after Lena stopped speaking. I read it again, then looked through the pages beneath it, searching for anything that could explain what the word ‘command’ meant. There was nothing useful in the remaining pages, so I opened the oldest Krane records we had brought out. I had spent years searching those files for an explanation of the demon, but I had always searched for a curse, a weapon, or a person who had done this to me.Now I was looking for Lena. That realization made the old records feel different in my hands. One damaged registry changed everything. It contained a reference to a Blackwood descendant whose identity had been protected by my grandfather decades earlier, along with instructions that her location must never be recorded in council documents.I stared at the name Blackwood until the letters blurred. My family had known someone was searching for her long before I was born.“My family knew,” I said, and

RAINAI had started looking into our family because I found a name in one of Mother's old boxes that I did not recognize. At first, I thought it was nothing more than another relative she had never talked about, but the way she had folded the paper and hidden it beneath old photographs made me keep searching. The name led me to an archived Alpha registry that had been moved three times in less than a decade. I spent two nights comparing old records with newer ones, and each time I searched for the Blackwood name, pages were missing. That was when I realized someone had not simply forgotten to preserve our family history. Someone had removed it.I found the first real clue in a registry from before Lena was born. It described the Blackwood bloodline as something several powerful Alpha families had been monitoring for generations, and one line mentioned a descendant whose identity had to remain hidden.I read the sentence again and again. The record did not name Lena, but the dates le
