Gideon's pov

I glared at my best friend, Jaxon as I drove into the underground parking lot of our headquarters. He laughed loudly when he noticed my stare. He knew I was annoyed about the idea of hiring a fake girlfriend . But I hate the fact that Jaxon, Rylee and Mr Eamon, the General manager of my team, are right, I need to do this if I want to have the sponsorship.

“You won't have to do this if you have not put your dick in someone else's wife” he laughed.

“Shut up” I hit the brake as I packed my car in an empty spot. “I didn't sleep with her”

“Really? Does it matter and now you are expected to have a girlfriend. You should be grateful, her face wasn't exposed” He teased, and we stepped out of my car.

“Fuck off”.

He guffawed loudly, then suddenly stopped and I looked at the direction he was staring at. It was a familiar White BMW and there the owner steps out of the car, “Oh shit, it is Riley Hugo” Jaxon faked awed.

As if she heard him, she turned and sneered “look who decided to show up” she placed her hand on her right hip, slapping the file in her left hand against her thigh.

Despite the fact she works for us, she doesn't hesitate to show her displeasure with us. “ Are you not just arriving too?” I asked, knowing it will rile her up.

“I have been here since an hour ago, dick. Everyone else has been” she turned, ignoring Jaxon’s presence.

“Hello to you too, Miss Rylee” Jaxon greeted even though he knew she wouldn't reply to him.

“Does she remember she works for us?” Jaxon sighed, sliding his hands into his pockets.

“She does and she knows she is good at what she does” I said and followed in her direction. When Rylee suggested that we tell the public that I have a girlfriend to make me look responsible as she always claims I am irresponsible, I disagree at first I don't want to, because of one picture of me and Shirley on the social media but I am stamped as the play boy of our team.

I entered the meeting room, Jaxon trailed behind me. My eyes fell on a wavy haired brunette, just like shirley. Golden eyes locked with mine. I stood there and stared into those eyes, something in me turned.

I only broke from the trance as Jaxon brushed past me. “ You must be the savior and the girlfriend” Jaxon’s voice echoed through the room as he reached the woman that Rylee had talked about.

She laughed softly and flushed as Jaxon pulled her from her seat. “I am Jaxon Merrick, Mi Lady” He kissed her right hand.

“I know who you are” she spoke, her voice was oddly calm and soft. And of course she knows who he is. I am sure she agreed to this because of Fame and to brag to her friends that she is dating Gideon Patton.

“Maren Leander” She introduced herself to Jaxon. Rylee walked up to them and pulled Maren from Jaxon but not before throwing him a look.

“Maren, please don't believe whatever she says about me just so you know she didn't like me that much and I am a very good person” Jaxon called after them, making Maren turn and laugh at him then turn her head to look at me, I frowned and she looked away.

I moved near the table and settled down beside Mr Eamon, he was furiously typing on his phone “Good morning Sir” I greeted, my eyes on Maren watching her every move.

“Good morning Patton” he slides his phone inside his suit jacket pocket. “Have you introduced yourself to Miss Maren?"

“No,” I replied shortly.

“I know that look, Gideon but you know it for your own sake and you should be grateful, she is doing it” Mr Eamon said.

“She is getting paid and gets to act like my girlfriend, she should be the one grateful” I grumbled.

“If you have only listened to Rylee and started away from the woman we won't be here today” he said and stood up, “c’mon let go say hi to the ladies”.

I wanted to argue but stood up and followed him. Jaxon had sat beside Maren, they were engrossed in a conversation. “Miss Maren” Mr Eamon called her, she stood up noticing me. Her perfume was soft, not choking like any other woman's. It carried a soft trance of lavender and floral.

“This is Gideon Patton,” Mr Eamon introduced.

“Maren Leander” she smiled and put her hand forward for a handshake. But I was busy judging her sense of fashion. A flower printed dress and jean jacket really, definitely not my type.

I stared at her hand before taking it. “Nice to meet you” I gave a tight smile.

“Nice to meet you too, Mr Patton”

I held her hand a little longer before releasing it, She gave me an awkward smile.

I and Mr Eamon sat near Jaxon, Maren and Rylee as the meeting started.

“Miss Maren, I hope all conditions are okay with you, I can email you the contract so you can make your own adjustments or point out anything that you don't want” Our team legal advisor, Mr Ridge asked.

Me and Maren hadn't said much since the meeting started, I just stared ahead of me to avoid looking at her but my eyes had minds of their own. They landed on hers.

“Okay. Everything is okay so far but I will do as you just said” she said softly, she looked away and stared at her hands which were on her thighs.

Why is she acting all good and calm? I frowned. Is she trying to pretend to be nice where Rylee gets her from?

“Mr Patton?” Mr Ridge called, cutting me from my thoughts.

“Do you want to make any adjustments, anything that doesn't sit well with you?” He asked.

“Hmm. I just want to make sure Miss Maren won't do anything uncomfortable to me, you know?” I blurted, glancing at her. Her eyes widened.

“Motherf**ker” I heard Rylee cursed under her breath.

“No…No..I won't..” Maren stuttered, tears welled in her eyes as if I had said something wrong.

“She should be asking that question, Mr Patton” Rylee glared at me, I could hear venom seeping in her voice.

I smirked, “Okay then, it is settled then” I stood up.

“I will email you both the contract” Mr Ridge said awkwardly, clearing his throat.

Maren's povI could still feel Gideon's warm hands on my waist, his warm breath on my face and how he stabled me when I tripped as we ran to the other side of the rink.I laughed when he cut past me even though he let me start to race after I made it halfway to the rink.He cheered loudly when he reached there before me. “You are too fast” I heaved a breath out my hands on my knees. He chuckled, skating towards me and assisted me to the bleachers.“What about we eat dinner at my place? We can take pictures—videos to distract my fans. What do you say?” Gideon suggested, he hesitated with his words.“That will be great” I agreed, I don't really want to go home now and hole up in my bed. I could barely stay online on social media without seeing any hate comment or anything that won't talk about me and Gideon.Tomorrow I am submitting pictures of my old paintings in the biggest gallery in Seattle. My stomach churned.I don't even know if I am excited about the invitation from the Galler

GIDEON’S POV“Affogato and cookies,” the barista called out my order.I went to the counter, scrolling through Instagram, reading all the blogs and comments about Maren's relationship. I was worried about her. Her page was filled with a lot of bad comments. After paying, I walked out of the coffee shop.I walked into the meeting area of the headquarters. Maren, Rylee, and Eamon were already waiting.Rylee was pacing around the room, Maren's hands clasped together. “Good morning,” I greeted and walked towards Maren. She smiled and returned my greeting.I placed the paper bag in front of her. Her eyes lit up.“Thank you,” she murmured.“You were late,” Rylee said sternly.“Traffic,” I replied and sat next to Maren, who had already opened the paper bag.“You should keep up with time, Patton,” Mr. Eamon scoffed.“We have a little problem,” Rylee started, and it didn't look like a little problem to her. She was nervous. She had been pacing around when I arrived. “And I have a perfect solut

Maren pov “And I am done” Jaxon slammed his chopsticks on the table, he just finished another bowl of chow mein noodles. He and Rylee decided to bet on who could finish two bowls of chow mein noodles faster. It was funny to watch but I enjoyed their batters. Gideon has been silent since we have been here. He picked at his food, he was awfully quiet. He looked angry. I wanted to say something but when he is in this mood for me I would rather not say anything. Was it his game ? He didn't seem that bothered about it earlier. Or wasn't it because Rylee joined us? No he can't be angry about that Rylee was supposed to go on a date tonight but it got cancelled, that was why I asked her to join us and she agreed, I wouldn't want to let her be on her own. “ Miss Hugo, you are officially owing me a hundred dollars,” Jaxon said, his voice breaking me from my train of thought. Rylee shot him a look, fuming and brought a hundred dollar bill from her purse. “Wow, how much cash do you carr

.Gideon's pov The crowd cheered as we made our way into the rink. It was a home game today just three days after the first game of the season.“And we have our star goaltender…Number 3… Gideon Patton” one of the commentators announced, our Fans erupt into another loud cheer. Many of them stood up, pushing up some cardboards.I smiled and waved, I scanned the lower bowl seat. Where I reserved for Maren, we haven't seen each other since we both left California. She was there, then I saw her making her way to her seat with Rylee. She saw me looking at her and waved and I did the same thing. I was about to skate towards the rink glass to say hi when Jaxon pulled me back. “It is time for the national anthem, lover boy.” He said, I glared at him before joining the forming queue, my eyes wandered off again and landed on Maren. She looked better than the last time I saw her. I remember her going pale after reading something on her phone, she withdrew from her lively self. At first I though

  • THE CONTRACTUAL GIRLFRIEND: FAKE DATING MY EX FAVORITE PLAYE   Twenty-three: A Hangover and Trust.

Maren’s POV:My head throbs with a dull, rhythmic ache, like someone had drummed on my head throughout the night. The feeling was familiar. I sat up and opened my eyes a little bit. Thankfully, the curtains were closed and the lights were dimmed. Hangovers and lights don’t work together.I slapped a hand to my throbbing head and scanned the room. It was an unfamiliar room. Wait. I am not in my hotel room! Did I sleep with someone?I glanced down at my clothing and I was still wearing the gown which I wore to the party.I heaved a breath of relief as my clothing was intact. The door opened and Gideon stepped in.“You are awake,” he smiled, moving further into the room. “Good morning.”“I don’t think I am having one,” I replied. My throat feels scratchy and my mouth dry and sour. How much did I drink last night?Gideon chuckled. It was smooth and low. He turned towards another direction.“What is funny?” I asked. Did I look cratered right now? Oh my God, a hangover face is the worst. I

  • THE CONTRACTUAL GIRLFRIEND: FAKE DATING MY EX FAVORITE PLAYE   TWENTY TWO: Golden eyes and a lucky bastard

Gideon's POV:I tapped my foot against the floor as I leaned against the wall outside of Maren's hotel room, waiting for her to come out so we could head to the club. We had just come back from the beach about two hours ago.I took a couple of pictures of her at the beach. She looked so beautiful in the pictures; she was calm and had a bright smile on her face, gentle and soft. The door opened and she stepped out. She had changed her clothes from earlier to a short burgundy gown, and she even had her makeup done. Her hair was down. I don’t know which one suits her better, her hair down or up. She looks beautiful both ways.“I am ready,” I heard her say, which cut me out of my thoughts. I cleared my throat; I must have been staring like a creep.“Yeah… yeah, let’s go,” I tried not to sound weird. She gave me a smile, the one that doesn’t look strained, and I smiled. Then she burst into laughter.“What?” I frowned. “Why are you laughing?” I asked. “What is funny?”“Your hair—” she wheez
