One moment, I was on the floor, inhaling the air reeking of alcohol mixed with booming music, mocking laughter, and surrounded by the snarls of wolves who hated me, and the next second, everything faded into the heavy, rhythmic thudding of Beta Vane's boots against the pristine tiles.

He was walking too fast and didn't bother to look back, not even once. He didn't care that I was drenched, that I was noticeably limping, or that my wrist was still bleeding from the injury Brielle caused. The red liquid rolled down my skin, staining the white dress my mother had spent all night working on. All Vane cared about was getting me to the obsidian chamber to fix some damn system and save the bloody Alpha from dying, but I wasn't even sure I would make it to the destination alive.

This was my final walk. I knew for a fact that the moment I stepped inside the obsidian chamber, I wouldn't be coming out alive. God, my mother and little sister would be so worried.

An automatic obsidian gate waited ahead of us and slid open for Vane to step in. The man walked so fast that I had to force my aching legs to move quicker before the gate shut behind me.

The space was dark and freezing, like an invisible snowstorm was raging inside. My wrist had automatically stopped bleeding. My blood felt frozen; I could feel the cold deep in my bones. The only light in the hallway came from sparking systems flickering from different corners, and I didn't fail to notice the sentinels standing silently against each wall.

The bloody Alpha's Beta wouldn't even wait for me to catch up, let alone catch my breath.

As if he could hear my thoughts, he suddenly paused and pursed his lips. His hands were dipped into the pockets of his tailored trousers as he waited for me to limp faster toward him.

"Believe me when I say I'm being extremely slow because I'm walking with you. It would take me less than thirty seconds to get to the chamber," he stated casually while waiting.

He wasn't trying to hide the annoyance that I was slowing him down, but it was also not my fault that he chose a wolfless girl when they were other strong omegas that could keep up with his energy.

When I finally reached him, I couldn't even catch my breath like I wanted to. The passage was so cold I could feel it tightening in my chest. I was surprised Vane wasn't reacting to the temperature at all.

Not even thirty seconds later, Vane started walking again.

"We are almost there," he announced.

I had no choice but to follow him until I finally caught sight of another obsidian gate from afar. The gate was designed like a trident, gigantic and gleaming so brightly that I could see my reflection on its surface even from a distance.

"You must be the technician."

A man dressed in a doctor's coat stood in front of me as I arrived near the gate.

I nodded, recognizing him as the one and only best doctor in Seattle, Doctor Rhodes.

"Here." He stretched out a white fur-lined coat toward me.

Confused, I accepted it.

"It is a special coat designed to protect you from the effects of the obsidian chamber. It's going to be very hot in there," Doctor Rhode explained, warning me before hand.

I nodded as I wrapped the coat around my body.

"I also sent someone to fetch the necessary tools you'll need to fix the cooling system. When you step in, you're going to look straight ahead. There's a giant black air conditioner. That's the system you're to fix," Rhode instructed, passing me tool box.

I nodded again, accepting the box.

He exchanged glances with Vane, motioning for him to open the gate. Vane nodded and walked toward a large transformer positioned on the left side of the gate. His fingers were about to wrap around the handle and pull it down, but he suddenly paused, then slowly turned back to where I stood.

For the first time, he was looking directly at me, intensely into my eyes. I could see my reflection in his amber orbs. His stare was different from the way the bloody Alpha looked at me. There was something darker in Vane's eyes, something sharp and dangerously alert. I had no idea what this man wanted to say, but I was already terrified for my life.

"I want you to listen to me very carefully," he started, his tone laced with warning.

I forced the lump in my throat down. I had no choice but to listen.

"If you somehow make it out alive, whatever you see in the obsidian chamber must never leave your mouth," he warned, glaring at me before adding. "I'm serious, you're going to keep it till your grave"

What this man don't understand was I have no one to talk to even if I wanted to, his warning didn't phase me at all. What worried me was the fact that he was certain I wasn't going to survive.

A painful chuckle almost escaped me, but instead, I simply nodded, swallowing the pain building in my chest. Just how long will I endure mistreatment simply from just being a null.

"One more thing," he continued, and I slowly lifted my head from the floor to look at him. "Do not touch the Alpha, no matter what happens. You are going in there to fix the cooling system only. Stay as many feet away from the Alpha as possible. I'm telling you this for your own good."

I blinked like I was ever planning to touch him. I had heard that even getting close to that bloody Alpha during the Blood Moon could reduce someone to ashes, including his Beta and the doctor. That was why they stayed far away from him and monitored everything through a system. Even I was given a special coat for protection, though I wasn't sure how long it would last.

I better work fast.

Vane was about to pull down the transformer when I stopped him.

He stared at me with an urgent, impatient, and slightly irritated expression.

"If I don't make it out alive, can you please pass a message to my family? Helene and Marcy Whitlock." At the mention of my last name, Vane narrowed his eyes like he was trying to remember something, but the curious look disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Now he was staring at me like I was a ticking time bomb.

"Just tell them not to cry for me and that I will always love them, no matter what," I added quickly.

Vane didn't reply. I wasn't even sure he acknowledged my request.

He pulled down the transformer, and the obsidian trident gate slowly lifted open. Rhode nodded at me, urging me to step inside.

I released a deep breath, my chest pounding violently against my rib cage, but I couldn't back down. It wasn't like I had been given a choice.

Staring into the dim red space before me, I inhaled deeply once more before opening my eyes.

Here goes nothing.

Mentally bracing myself, I stepped into the obsidian chamber.

Sometimes, I wonder if my biggest enemy is my own pack. It feels like these people just hate seeing me actually have a good time because why, in the goddess's name, are these damned pack elders summoning me for an urgent meeting so early in the morning? I haven't even gotten the chance to give the sleeping beauty next to me her second round of morning sex.Having no choice but to answer their call, I pulled myself out of bed, did a quick cleanup, and changed my clothes. I knew my Lila would wake up late and hungry, so I made her a quick meal and wrote her a note, leaving it on the counter before heading out.Within minutes, I found myself at the main den inside the meeting room, where the elders were chatting among themselves. Their voices quieted the moment they saw me."Welcome, Alpha. We're sorry for interrupting you," Elder Borek, the lead speaker, said as he stood to apologize."Let's just get this meeting over with," were the only words that could truly describe how I felt. They

Reis and I had spent the last few days together inside this private villa with no disturbances. We did almost the same thing every day. Eat, go for a walk, have sex, then have even more sex whenever we got the chance, every time and everywhere.Currently, the sun was just beginning to rise, and I was woken by the familiar hardness pressing between my legs."Reis..." I couldn't finish my sentence and swallowed the rest in a moan as he pushed himself inside me, thrusting as fast as he could.I gripped the bedsheet to contain the overwhelming pleasure. I remembered passing out last night with him still inside me, and now he was already going another round. He was like a self-recharging machine. This man just couldn't seem to get tired of using his dick every chance he got. I was beginning to wonder just how much he had been holding back when we had limited ourselves to foreplay. The bed squeaked violently. As the seconds passed, he increased his pace, and I could feel him growing harder

He was giving me a fair shot to do whatever I wanted with him before he clicked into beast mode, but I'd never done this or been put in a position where I was in charge, especially with someone like Reis.I'm not sure what to do. I didn't read the sex book because I was too shy, and now I'm not liking how much of a prude I am. But I definitely loved the feeling of his hardness pressing against my middle, and that's exactly what I'm going for.Gripping his shoulders as hard as I could, I began grinding myself against his dick through the fabric of his pants. The sensation was something I couldn't explain. It felt like the more I moved, the more I wanted, and he was enjoying it too, growing harder with every passing second."Fuck, Lila, keep doing that," he grunted, gripping my body and pulling me tightly against him, as if I wasn't already close enough.I ground against him as fast as I could, but somehow that still wasn't enough for him. He began helping me by moving my body back and

The drive was quite long, taking almost an hour before we arrived at our destination. The car rolled to a stop in front of a comfortable yet fancy-looking building. Seeing luxury shouldn't have been new to me, but every place Reis introduced me to felt like a work of art that somehow kept getting better with every passing second.Reis stepped out of the car, walking over to my side and opening the door for me. He stretched out his hand for me to take, which I didn't hesitate to do, and he gently helped me out of the car.We took careful steps, climbing the white-and-onyx staircase before reaching the shining golden doors that led into the beautiful interior of the villa."Wow." I gasped, staring around, unable to wrap my head around how beautiful this place was.The place was carved to look like a beautiful wooden art, and it had the scent of dry woods mixed with leathers. It looked like it was made to feel like one was living on the woods and a modern building at the same time."You

"I'm sorry you had to find out the way you did, with the entire pack there. You took me in, you were the kindest to me when no one else was, and all I could think about was myself," I said to my mother as we took a walk outside the Den.I never imagined there would be a day when it finally registered in the back of my mind that my identity was no longer a secret from the people I'd spent my whole life afraid to tell, especially the bloody Alpha. And this time, I felt so relaxed because he made it clear that everyone accepted me.It sucked that I ran away without thinking of informing heleney, but I knew she would act out of her mind. My irrationality had almost endangered Marcy. Even though she's acting like she's over it now, it was one thing I never truly forgave myself for."I should be mad at you. I took you in with full trust and spent so much trying to make sure you got your wolf, and you took me for a fool," my mother said, then continued, "But what you did changed our lives fo

It's been silent in my head for what feels like a long time. All I can see is darkness, and all I can hear is the gentle sound of a river flowing.I don't know how long it's been like this, but I've been feeling it for a while now. I'm starting to think this was the peace I've always tried hard to reach for whenever I forced myself to meditate. For the first time in my life, if I was still alive, then I could proudly say I was finally at peace.I could feel it."Lila."My name echoed through the empty space.I couldn't even see myself, let alone see or trace where the voice was coming from."Lila.""Lila...""Lila, open your eyes."And just like that, my lashes fluttered open, meeting the familiar ceiling I'd grown so used to."Welcome back home, Lila."For some reason, Marcy's face was way too close to mine.I held my head as I tried to sit up, and she quickly rushed to help me."We're back at the Tartarus Pack! You won't believe what happened. The Alpha can finally shift into his wo

The special fur cloth was useless against the furnace-like heat of this chamber.A few seconds ago, I was terrified, thinking I was going to freeze to death, and now I feared I would not just burn but melt to death.
