NOAH’S POV

Sleep never came… the torn page… the faded crescent… master Aldren’s reaction… Every piece circled through my mind until dawn painted the palace walls gold. Someone knew what that symbol meant, they simply refused to say it. A sharp knock sounded at my chamber door.

“Enter.”

Gideon stepped inside looking as though he hadn’t slept either.

“You’ve been busy.”

“So have you,” Noah replied.

Gideon placed another cloth bundle on the table.

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 30: THE WATCHER IN THE TREES

ROSELYN’S POVWe didn’t stop running, branches clawed at my sleeves as Darius led me through the dense forest. Fallen logs, tangled roots, and thorny bushes blurred together beneath my feet, but he never hesitated. He knew exactly where he was going.“Darius…” I gasped.“Keep moving.”“I can’t—”“You can.” His voice wasn’t harsh, It was certain. So I kept running. After what felt like an eternity, Darius suddenly raised his hand.“Down.”We dropped behind a massive fallen oak covered in thick moss. I struggled to catch my breath while Darius remained perfectly still, listening. The forest answered with silence, Then… Voices, Faint… Too distant to understand. More than one person, I looked at Darius as he slowly placed a finger against his lips for me not to make a sound. The voices grew clearer.“They came this way.”“Search the ridge.”“Don’t lose the trail.”A chill raced down my spine, they weren’t shouting, they were hunting. I instinctively reached for the crystal pendant beneath

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 29: THE PATH OF ECHOES

ROSELYN’S POVThe forest was changing, the towering oaks that had surrounded us for days slowly gave way to ancient pines whose branches stretched so high they almost hid the sky. The air smelled different here—cooler, carrying the scent of moss and distant rain.Darius slowed his pace. “We’re close.”I looked up. “Close to what?”He glanced ahead without answering.I sighed. “I don’t suppose today is the day you finally tell me where we’re going.”A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “No.”For someone who had saved my life, Darius had an incredible talent for saying very little. Still… I trusted him more than I had a week ago. Not completely, but enough to keep walking. The path narrowed until we reached a shallow stream. Its water was crystal clear, flowing over smooth stones that shimmered beneath the sunlight.Darius knelt beside it. “We’ll refill our waterskins.”I crouched nearby, dipping my fingers into the icy water, it felt strangely… Familiar. A sudden image flash

But… Gideon hesitated. “He couldn’t remember where.”I sighed. “Another dead end.”“Not exactly.” Gideon unfolded a small piece of parchment.

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 27: A MARK WITHOUT A NAME

NOAH’S POVBy sunrise, Gideon had already left the palace. True to his word, he avoided the Royal Guard and chose a quieter path through the capital. If the attackers belonged to a hidden organization, asking the wrong people would only alert them.I spent the whole day enduring preparations for my coronation. Royal tailors adjusted ceremonial robes. Advisors reviewed ancient customs. Messengers arrived with reports from neighboring packs, and I answered every question expected of a future king yet, his thoughts remained fixed on a single object… A blackened mask.Late at night, a knock sounded on the door of my study.“Enter.”Gideon stepped inside and quietly closed the door behind him. His expression told me everything.“You found something.”“I found… almost nothing.”I leaned back in my chair. “Explain.”Gideon placed the mask on the table between us.“I visited three master blacksmiths.”“And?”“They all agreed on one thing.”“The metal isn’t from any forge in Lunaris.”I frowne

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 26: THE WEIGHT OF THE CROWN

NOAH’S POVThe morning in Lunaris has been a busy one, as preparations were still on for my coronation, but ever since I came back from Oakridge without answers my mind has known no peace, I was always lost in thoughts and Gideon was yet to send words about the search. Soon the silver door of my chambers opened with a deep groan, and four servants came in bearing the freshly mixed herbs annointed and instructed by the Royal priest that it should be added to my bath water regularly until the day of my coronation as it was the normal procedure whenever a new king was to be crowned and this procedure has been consistent since I came back. Normally, I would have acknowledged them but, I barely heard them as my thoughts remained in Oakridge. The frightened girl, the burnt cottage, the strange mask, and the questions that refused to leave me. While the Servants were still preparing my bath water, a royal guard hurried in and bowed. “Your Highness. His Majesty requests your presence in the

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 25: FOOTPRINTS THAT VANISHED

ROSELYN’S POVMorning came wrapped in a blanket of mist, Tiny droplets clung to every leaf, sparkling whenever the rising sun peeked through the trees. I sat beside the dying campfire, turning the leather pouch over in my hands. It still didn’t make sense, Someone had known exactly where we would stop, had left food, herbs, and healing salve. Yet whoever it was had never shown themselves. Darius finished packing our blankets before walking over.“Ready?”I held up the pouch.“Have you figured out who left this?”“No.”“But you’ve been thinking about it.”“I have.”“And?”He adjusted the strap across his shoulder. “I’ve reached one conclusion.”I waited.“They wanted to be mysterious.”His answer caught me off guard.“If they wanted to stay hidden, why leave supplies where we’d notice them? So… they wanted us to know someone was helping?”“Perhaps.”“Then why not speak to us?”Darius looked toward the forest.“Because speaking would reveal more than they were willing to risk.”His word
