Chapter 2: The Trial: A sisters Lie

last update Last Updated: 2025-08-01 21:26:57

Weeks had passed.I was getting used to the pain. Melody would come to the dungeon and beat me to her satisfaction, when she felt angry she would vent her frustration on me. I was slowly becoming a shadow of myself.

Despite the fact that no one came to visit me I strangely developed a strong will to live. I didn’t want to die anymore I wanted to avenge myself. I want revenge for what I had to go through. The humiliation, the sorrow, the pain, All of it. I will make them go on their knees and beg me, I wouldn’t rest until I gave them triple the punishment they gave me.

———

The sound of heels echoed in the prison cell I knew Melody was coming to get her daily dose of enjoyment. “Stay calm” I told myself

“Hello twin, how are you today? oh you look absolutely disgusting—bleh Oh Moon Goddess what a wasteful creation you’ve made, anyways useless as you already know you have been accused of stealing the royal seal so you will be tried in court, I mean it’s the least we can do for your sorry ass”.

Oh Goddess they were taking me to court!! No I know they just want to humiliate me more, I just know it goddess please help me with this

I don’t want to suffer like this.

“The trial date is in three days get ready to face judgement. Now back to the routine let’s have some fun.” She said as she whipped me even though I was used to it it still hurt. “Please stop” I pleaded but she just laughed Goddess please help me.

———

The day of the trial came. They pulled the chains yanked me like a dirt dog . The trial took place in the pack stadium everyone had gathered to watch me get humiliated.

Even my own family was there. You might think that being a Gamma’s daughter was a good thing as it places you in a high position, you see it as a blessing, but when your in a position such as mine you tend to see it as a curse.

I looked to where the Gamma, Beta and Alpha family sat and saw how they looked at me with disdain. I still remember when my father Gamma George Gilbert told me how much he hated me and that he would have just killed me when I was born if he knew I would bring shame and disgrace to him. He called me a stubborn stain and my mother Diane told me how she regrets having me as her child, how much she wants to dispose me she even threatened to sell me as a slave to the rogues.

I looked to see Ryan and Melody seated together occasionally kissing, if you didn’t know them you would think they were a loving couple but they’re just demons with angelic faces.

———

The council members were present and everyone had taken their seats. The trial began. I was made to sit on the ground with chains on my arms and leg’s in my torn clothes I looked haggard. I looked like a rogue who is about to be hanged I was so hungry I don’t eat properly I’m only given half a loaf of dry bread and dirty water. On good days they give me clean water.

The council member Boris asked “What is this lady being charged for?”

“She is being charged for theft and betrayal in fact also treason, she stole the Silvermoon pack Royal seal tried to run off with it and sell it, who knows who she planned to sell it off to.Maybe a pack enemy, maybe the rogues. They might issue an attack on the pack and kill us all and even make us slaves. She wants revenge on us she thinks we are the reason she doesn’t have a wolf, we caught her before she could accomplish her devious and wicked plans.”

He lied so smoothly I would believe him without question.

I wanted to speak for myself but I couldn’t. The council member Boris passed a verdict “ Laura Gilbert you have stolen an important item and tried to sell out your pack.Putting your pack in danger is treason.Your to be hanged for your crimes”

———

“Please don’t hang her council member Boris please I know my twin sister committed a grievous crime infact it’s a sin but please killing her is a bit too harsh” Melody begged with crocodile tears on her face.

“I understand you love your twin sister but she has committed a huge crime this is the punishment for treason.”

“I agree that she betrayed the pack but it’s only because she has always been jealous of me it’s only because Ryan chose me as his luna and not her. Laura has always been a jealous child. She gets jealous when she can’t have something someone has, that’s why she went this far but I’m sure that’s not why she went to the mountain witch to cast dark spells on Ryan to make him think he was her mate. I mean she doesn’t even have a wolf.So it’s easy to deceive Ryan with black magic making him think of her as his mate, it’s highly possible. And she couldn’t handle the fact that Ryan had found me, his true mate so she decided to take and important treasure of the pack to make Ryan’s reign bad, it’s all because of jealousy nothing else sir.”

Melody keeps on painting Laura as evil.

Gasps erupted. People picked stones and threw at me it hurt so much. What did I do to get a twin like her, what did I do to be born into such a disgusting family. People who just listen to the one person’s perspective and judge without giving the other party a chance to say something to defend themselves.

———

They kept throwing stones I saw my family smiling, Melody had a triumphant smile on her face like she just conquered a kingdom.

“Stop, Order Order, stop at once”

They stopped stoning me but they didn’t stop cursing at me.

“Melody these are serious claims do you have evidence to back up your claims?”

“Yes I do. This man Mr Augu saw her when she was smuggling the crest into her bag pack and running away he was the one who alerted us of her escape.”

“Tailor here is the son of the farmer Reginald. He saw her when she was sneaking through the forest, he followed her and saw her meet with the witch and collect the charm she used on Ryan.”

“Caitlyn our servant saw her entering the house at 2 in the morning she said she looked suspicious so she told me about it but I didn’t want to accuse her so I just waited for everything to unfold.”

———

Melody kept on lying, lie after lie.Fake stories.Fake witnesses.Everything was a lie.I was in so much pain physically, mentally and emotionally I couldn’t even say anything I could only grunt in pain.

“You said your maid told you about what she was doing. Why didn’t you report to your Alpha or even confide in your parents?” Kate Morgan The only female council member asked Melody.

“I didn’t have evidence or witnesses to back my claim so I just waited for the moon goddess to take charge of everything, I prayed everyday for the moon goddess to set things right.”

Melody and her fake witnesses brought out a charm wrapped in a white cloth stained with blood. Everyone believed her words no question was asked.

———

“Council members you have heard and seen evidence of the crime committed by this vermin, please give us permission to get rid of the whore.” The Alpha Keagan Reese spoke with his Alpha tone and everyone bowed their heads in submission.

“As Melody here said death will be a harsh but right punishment.Instead let her suffer for her crime by selling her off to the slave traders.”The council man Boris decided the verdict.

The pack due to the loyalty to their Alpha agreed for Laura to be sold.

Slave Traders.** My eyes widened with horror.Moon goddess how long will it continue when are you going to help me.

The cave was collapsing in on itself. The walls screamed, the earth itself trembling as though in agony. Great shards of crystals broke from the ceiling, shattering into blind fragments that rained down in a storm of light and dust.Hope stumbled through the falling debris, clutching the glowing Crystal of Albion tightly against her chest. It pulsed silently, it’s hum deep and low, resonating through her bones. She didn’t cry out, not even as the ground split within her feet. The crystals rhythm was steady, almost guiding her steps through the chaos.“Hope!” Laura’s voice cut through the thunder of stone. She ducked beneath a falling slab, her arm burning from the gash across it. She grabbed the ancient sword from the rubble, it’s surface now gleaming with a strange, silver blue fire. Then she sprinted toward Hope.Dust clouded her vision, but she found her, small and fierce standing amid ruin with the crystal clutched tight.Laura didn’t hesitate. Who scooped Hope into her arms, holdi

Hope cried, her gestures were frantic as her hands trembled. She knelt beside Damian, her eyes wide and wet, her small fingers fluttering helplessly before she pressed them to his arm as if her small fingers could heal him.Damian forced a breath through gritted teeth. His voice came low and strained, but steady.“Don’t worry, little wolf.” He rasped, managing a crooked smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll be fine.”But the blood soaking through his shirt said otherwise.Laura was already beside him, her heart twisting at the sight. She reached for him, her fingers trembling as they brushed against his arm. “Damian, you’re not fine….” She said fiercely. “If only I still had Solaris Bloom… it could have healed you and restored your strength.”He shook his head, his jaw set despite pain. “No. The crystal comes first. We find it, then we deal with me.”Laura stared at him, frustration and fear battling in her chest, but she knew better than to argue when that Alpha determination took

Laura looked up through the blur, strong hands steadied her and her heart jolted.“Damian…” she breathed, the name barely leaving her lips. His silver eyes locked onto hers, burning with worry and anger both. But before she could say more, a dark shadow moved behind him. She turned her head to look— too late, she felt the sharp merciless crack of a strike against her temple.Pain flared white. The world titled. Her knees buckled as darkness surged in.The last thing she heard before the voice claimed her was the echo of heavy footsteps fading into the meadow.Damian’s roar rippled through the silence. “Coward!” His voice was thunder, his aura like lightening through grass. The veiled woman froze mid stride, meeting his gaze for only a second before vanishing into the veil of light beyond the meadow, as though the world itself had swallowed her whole.Damian cursed under the breath, his chest heaving. He dropped to his knees beside Laura, brushing her hair from her face. “ Laura,” he m

Laura met Damian’s eyes, voice low but firm. “You can’t keep the Child of Silence hidden forever hidden forever.”For a moment, the world seemed to stop. The color drained from Damian’s face, his throat tightened as he swallowed hard. His eyes flickered between them, from Laura’s steady resolve to Hope’s calm, silent presence. And in that moment, Silence became heavier than sound.——————The study was quiet except for the steady crackle of the fire. Damian stood behind his desk, arms crossed, his silver orbs fixed on Laura as if searching for the truth she’d just spoken.“How,” he said finally, his voice low but heavy with command, “do you know about the Child of Silence?”Laura met his gaze, unflinching. “ Because I am the Mother of Shadows.” She said her tone firm, but edged with fire. “And I am part of this prophecy as much as Hope is.”Damian’s brow drew together. “You know nothing of that prophecy,” he snapped. “ Stay out of what you don’t understand.”Her jaw clenched. “ Don’t

The air shimmered around them, silver lights weaving through branches like living breath. The clearing pulsed with quiet power, and Laura could feel her own heart beat faltering beneath the weight of it. Laura’s throat worked as she tried to speak. “ My lady…” her voice trembled. “ The realms—“ The Goddess lifted a hand, and silence rolled through the clearing. Her eyes, twin orbs of celestial fire, turned toward Laura, filled with something ancient, sorrow and fierce, unyielding love. “One of the Celestial ones.” She said, her tone a melody of eternity, “has seen a vision. A shadow spreading across both heaven and earth. In this vision, there is war, a great and final war. I saw your mate, Damian, fall beneath a blade forged from despair. I saw your heart torn from you, your light fading, and evil rising to rule again.” The words struck Laura like thunder. She stumbled back, her breath catching in her chest. “No…” she whispered. “ No, that can’t be true, Damian. Me— we—“ “T

Laura stepped out from the shadows beside Damian, her face calm, unreadable, though her eyes flickered like twin shards of storm light.“Desa” she said quietly. At once, the red haired maid bowed deeply, her hair lowering until her hair curtained her face. “Forgive me, my lady. Alpha.” She murmured. “I apologize for the disturbance.”Damian’s gaze shifted from her to the crumpled form of Keven. His voice, when it came, was cool but edged with authority. “What were you doing with him?”Desa hesitated for only a breath before answering, her tone composed but faintly trembling. “He tried to force himself on me, Alpha. I refused. In my defense… I may have hit him harder than I meant.”A ripple of surprise flickered through Damian’s expression. “You knocked out a guard?” His brows furrowed. “ How on earth is that possible? You’re an omega.”Desa’s shoulders tensed. Her throat worked as she swallowed hard, lowering her head even further. “I believe it was because it was drunk, Alpha.” She s
