Chapter 3: A Queen in Chains

last update Last Updated: 2025-08-01 21:29:19

I stayed in the prison cell for two more weeks after the trial. I was to be sold off to the slave traders today after Melody’s ascension, I still couldn’t believe she was becoming luna.

Yesterday she came and mocked me telling me how she had successfully taken what was rightfully hers from the frontline. How she was going to become luna in my place, that she was a true luna, the one who would lead them to salvation.

The pack members were excited and happy that Melody was going to be their luna and that they would finally get rid of me. They prepared everything for the occasion,it was going to be huge.

Even in my cell I could tell how busy everyone was with the preparations. That didn’t stop Melody from coming to pay her daily visits.

“Hello sister. Aren’t you going to congratulate me? I’m finally becoming luna something you couldn’t become, but don’t worry I’ll do better than you could ever do. Today I’m not going to flog you.Let’s say that I’m giving you a gift today since your going on a long trip why not let you breathe for a few hours.”

She blabbed about how she was going to mate with Ryan and how she would birth him the strongest pup and be loved by everyone. That I’ll be forever known as a traitor to the pack and beyond even in my grave.

“Melody. Leave here at once I don’t want to smell this trash on you. Please my love.”

Ryan coaxed her.

“Fine only because I want to smell good for you, you know it’s our big day. Be quick Ryan I’m waiting outside.” She left me alone with Ryan.

Ryan approached me and gripped my chin. His nails extended to claws as they pierced through my flesh.

“You used to be the most beautiful woman Laura, those clear brown eyes that excited me so much I wanted to drown in their beauty. As voluptuous as you were, you turned heads wherever you went. But it wasn’t enough for you lacked the most important thing. A wolf. You could have been my mistress. But now your haggard, dry, hungry, dirty and sour. Absolutely disgusting.”

He spat tears formed in my eyes. I still couldn’t believe myself after all I suffered I’m still In love with this dog. Shame. I felt nothing but disgust at my own thoughts and feelings.

“Now for all you have done to me. To this pack. You will watch your twin sister Melody, become my Luna.”

I saw a flicker of sadness pass his eyes but it was only for a second. At first I thought something wasn’t right, but when he backhanded me.I came back to my senses. I was so weak that i lost consciousness.

———

I woke up i the pack halls,it was looking beautiful I must confess decorated nicely with the packs colors silver and blue. Blue and silver banners draped round the hall.

The pack gathered with expectant faces beneath their breaths they murmured.Tonight wasn’t just a ceremony but the dawn of a new era.

Melody descended from the stairs.Shoulders draped with a Lunas cloak, skillfully woven with intricate silver threads. She had a radiant smile on her face, eyes sharp with hunger a true queen could hold.

At the end of the stairs. Ryan stood dressed in white. A blue long coat threaded with silver.

The ceremony was in full swing as the pack members pledged their loyalty to the new Alpha and Luna.

In the shadows of the room I sat broken and chained. Everyone who passed me would occasionally call me “thief” or “traitor” even “witch” it all felt suffocating.I prayed to the Moon Goddess for it to come to an end.

Laura’s heart pounded with helplessness and rage as she watched Melody claim the title meant for her. She made a vow that she would get revenge.

The voice of her tormentor rang out laced with venom but sweet to the pack ears as she said:

“Let tonight mark the dawn of a strong pack united under the reign of a Luna and Alpha who will bring nothing but honor and power to Silvermoon. No longer shall weaknesses be among us.”

Everyone applauded as they laughed at Laura who was being referred to as the weakness. Weakness? She was no weakness. One day they would know the truth and be regretful for their actions.

———

Later that night…

———

Blackmoon pack

The dim light flickered through the cracked window panes of the manor. Seated in the seat

With a cigarette in his mouth and gun in the other he listened to His Beta tell him about Silvermoon packs new Luna and Alpha. Even the sale of the Current Alpha’s first mate to the slave auction house.

He banged his fist hard on the desk, the Beta wasn’t even afraid of the sudden slam.

"Ryan has always been a fool, a spineless idiot, but I never knew he would be this stupid”

“What do you mean Alpha?”

The Alpha laughed sinisterly and said to the eagerly waiting Beta.

“Laura would want revenge wouldn’t she?”

“Yes Alpha but I don’t quite understand what your playing at”

He said:

“I will give it to her,not just revenge but also their destruction. Silvermoon will fall in flames…and shame. And she will be the blade I wield.”

“You want to use her as a weapon?” The Beta probed

“Yes” The Alpha didn’t hesitate to say.

“ I will give her power. She knows them. Their weaknesses.Their secrets. She lived, bled for them… and was betrayed by them. No one knows Silvermoon moon like she does.”

The Alpha explained slowly with his voice lowering.

The Beta noticed the look in the Alpha’s eyes, cold and patient something darker stirred…vengeance.

“She was called useless. A runt. A traitor. Betrayed by her family even her twin sister. Her Mate. What they saw is not what I see. I see something different. I see power that’s unclaimed. Buried beneath pains. I will be the one to dig it out with my claws. I will shape her into something they never imagined.”

The Beta finally understand the Alpha’s concept asked: “ what if she says no? what if she decides not to do it? What then?.”

“ Then she will go back in chains or worse. But if she says Yes… Then she will will become a queen. A weapon. A storm they never saw coming.”

Silence hung heavy between the two men.

“Then we can final take revenge on Silvermoon for all they did to us, oh I can’t wait.”

The Beta said and laughed maniacally.

With a cold smile the Alpha said:

“We will remind them who they left to rot.”

He said as he growled. His wolf has been impatient and thirsty for blood since that day.

———

The cart rattled as they passed an uneven bumpy path. Jarring Laura’s already battered and bruised body. The stench of rogues was very prominent. The smell of blood. Sweat. And Damp clothing hung in the air even breathing was a hard task.

In the wooden cart we’re two girls no younger than eighteen. One with raven black hair and one with red ginger hair each with tear streaked skin and hollowed cheeks.

No one spoke. The silence was louder than their cries.

Rain began to drizzle. Cold drops splashing on their skin through the holes of the canvas stretched above. One of the guards kicked the bars.

“Lower your heads. Mutt.”

The cart hit a bump, the jolt sent Laura’s head slamming against the panel. Biting down a cry with her blood filled mouth.

Slowing loosing consciousness and faith in the Moon Goddess. Laura kept silent and endured the grueling travel.

After hours of travel they finally reached the slave house.

The driver shouted: “Unload ‘em!”

Clanking of chains was heard as the back of the cart opened. The guards yanked the girls out. Laura stumbled and scraped her feet against a stone. She was pulled toward a cage huddled with the others.

A woman in her late twenties looked at Laura and asked

“Silvermoon?”

Laura’s breath caught. She nodded.

The woman smirked at her.

“ you look like someone they discarded after chewing up”

“Who are you?” Laura managed to say with her croaky voice.

“Kiera. From Bloodvale. Alpha’s favorite toy till I aged out. Now I’m here with the rest of you broken dolls.”

Laura’s heart sank as she looked around and saw some girls no less than thirteen. Each with scars on their bodies and stories to tell.

A man’s loud voice sounded after a horn was blown.

“Let the bidding begin!”

The cave was collapsing in on itself. The walls screamed, the earth itself trembling as though in agony. Great shards of crystals broke from the ceiling, shattering into blind fragments that rained down in a storm of light and dust.Hope stumbled through the falling debris, clutching the glowing Crystal of Albion tightly against her chest. It pulsed silently, it’s hum deep and low, resonating through her bones. She didn’t cry out, not even as the ground split within her feet. The crystals rhythm was steady, almost guiding her steps through the chaos.“Hope!” Laura’s voice cut through the thunder of stone. She ducked beneath a falling slab, her arm burning from the gash across it. She grabbed the ancient sword from the rubble, it’s surface now gleaming with a strange, silver blue fire. Then she sprinted toward Hope.Dust clouded her vision, but she found her, small and fierce standing amid ruin with the crystal clutched tight.Laura didn’t hesitate. Who scooped Hope into her arms, holdi

Hope cried, her gestures were frantic as her hands trembled. She knelt beside Damian, her eyes wide and wet, her small fingers fluttering helplessly before she pressed them to his arm as if her small fingers could heal him.Damian forced a breath through gritted teeth. His voice came low and strained, but steady.“Don’t worry, little wolf.” He rasped, managing a crooked smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll be fine.”But the blood soaking through his shirt said otherwise.Laura was already beside him, her heart twisting at the sight. She reached for him, her fingers trembling as they brushed against his arm. “Damian, you’re not fine….” She said fiercely. “If only I still had Solaris Bloom… it could have healed you and restored your strength.”He shook his head, his jaw set despite pain. “No. The crystal comes first. We find it, then we deal with me.”Laura stared at him, frustration and fear battling in her chest, but she knew better than to argue when that Alpha determination took

Laura looked up through the blur, strong hands steadied her and her heart jolted.“Damian…” she breathed, the name barely leaving her lips. His silver eyes locked onto hers, burning with worry and anger both. But before she could say more, a dark shadow moved behind him. She turned her head to look— too late, she felt the sharp merciless crack of a strike against her temple.Pain flared white. The world titled. Her knees buckled as darkness surged in.The last thing she heard before the voice claimed her was the echo of heavy footsteps fading into the meadow.Damian’s roar rippled through the silence. “Coward!” His voice was thunder, his aura like lightening through grass. The veiled woman froze mid stride, meeting his gaze for only a second before vanishing into the veil of light beyond the meadow, as though the world itself had swallowed her whole.Damian cursed under the breath, his chest heaving. He dropped to his knees beside Laura, brushing her hair from her face. “ Laura,” he m

Laura met Damian’s eyes, voice low but firm. “You can’t keep the Child of Silence hidden forever hidden forever.”For a moment, the world seemed to stop. The color drained from Damian’s face, his throat tightened as he swallowed hard. His eyes flickered between them, from Laura’s steady resolve to Hope’s calm, silent presence. And in that moment, Silence became heavier than sound.——————The study was quiet except for the steady crackle of the fire. Damian stood behind his desk, arms crossed, his silver orbs fixed on Laura as if searching for the truth she’d just spoken.“How,” he said finally, his voice low but heavy with command, “do you know about the Child of Silence?”Laura met his gaze, unflinching. “ Because I am the Mother of Shadows.” She said her tone firm, but edged with fire. “And I am part of this prophecy as much as Hope is.”Damian’s brow drew together. “You know nothing of that prophecy,” he snapped. “ Stay out of what you don’t understand.”Her jaw clenched. “ Don’t

The air shimmered around them, silver lights weaving through branches like living breath. The clearing pulsed with quiet power, and Laura could feel her own heart beat faltering beneath the weight of it. Laura’s throat worked as she tried to speak. “ My lady…” her voice trembled. “ The realms—“ The Goddess lifted a hand, and silence rolled through the clearing. Her eyes, twin orbs of celestial fire, turned toward Laura, filled with something ancient, sorrow and fierce, unyielding love. “One of the Celestial ones.” She said, her tone a melody of eternity, “has seen a vision. A shadow spreading across both heaven and earth. In this vision, there is war, a great and final war. I saw your mate, Damian, fall beneath a blade forged from despair. I saw your heart torn from you, your light fading, and evil rising to rule again.” The words struck Laura like thunder. She stumbled back, her breath catching in her chest. “No…” she whispered. “ No, that can’t be true, Damian. Me— we—“ “T

Laura stepped out from the shadows beside Damian, her face calm, unreadable, though her eyes flickered like twin shards of storm light.“Desa” she said quietly. At once, the red haired maid bowed deeply, her hair lowering until her hair curtained her face. “Forgive me, my lady. Alpha.” She murmured. “I apologize for the disturbance.”Damian’s gaze shifted from her to the crumpled form of Keven. His voice, when it came, was cool but edged with authority. “What were you doing with him?”Desa hesitated for only a breath before answering, her tone composed but faintly trembling. “He tried to force himself on me, Alpha. I refused. In my defense… I may have hit him harder than I meant.”A ripple of surprise flickered through Damian’s expression. “You knocked out a guard?” His brows furrowed. “ How on earth is that possible? You’re an omega.”Desa’s shoulders tensed. Her throat worked as she swallowed hard, lowering her head even further. “I believe it was because it was drunk, Alpha.” She s
