“Please, spare his life. We can lock him up permanently but I can’t watch him die,” she begged.

I turned to Rob and nodded. She saved our lives before and I didn’t feel good killing her brother but Rob seemed like he had other plans.

“Too bad. He shouldn’t have betrayed us and his sister,” he said.

“Please. She saved our lives,” I begged on Camilla’s behalf.

Rob hesitated, his finger on the trigger but then nodded slowly.

“I know I’ll regret this,” he muttered.

Diego was dragged out by two of Rob’s men. His wrists were bound and his mouth kept running as he spat threats like they meant something.

We all stood silent and shaken by his betrayal and his ties with Camilla.

Camilla didn’t chase after him or lash out. She nodded to the guards. “Take him to one of the rooms and tie him up. I want surveillance and no one in or out unless I approve it.”

Her voice shook and her hands trembled. She walked up to me with glossy eyes but her stare was steady.

“You did what you had to do,” she said.
