ERICA

ERICA

The morning sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of my high-rise office, casting a bright, polished glow across my mahogany desk. I was sitting in my leather armchair, nursing a cup of black coffee, trying desperately to focus on a stack of corporate contracts. But my mind kept wandering back to the penthouse, to my mother, to Leo and Lucas playing on the carpet, and to the bitter realization that Andrew’s shadow hung over every single corner of our lives.

I set my mug down and pinched the bridge of my nose, sighing heavily.

Before I could even pick up my pen, the heavy oak door of my private office swung open without a knock.

My breath hitched instantly.

Andrew walked in.

He was looking more handsome than ever. He wore a sharp, custom charcoal suit that clung perfectly to his broad shoulders and narrow waist. His dark hair was neatly styled, his jawline clean-cut and lethal, and those deep, intense eyes locked onto mine the moment he stepped across the threshold.

The moment he entered, his cologne took over the room, a rich, intoxicating mix of expensive sandalwood, dark whiskey, and pure power. The scent hit my senses like a physical wave, wrapping around me, instantly taking over my strength and making me weak at the knees. My pulse spiked wildly, my heart hammering so hard against my ribs I was terrified he could hear it from where he stood.

He stopped right in front of my desk, leaning forward slightly, resting his large, manicured hands on the dark wood.

"You have not replied to the firm," he said, his voice a deep, smooth baritone that sent a tremor straight down my spine. "You haven't confirmed if you are handling the case."

I gave no response.

Words completely failed me. My eyes were glued to his face, entirely captured by his presence. My gaze drifted down from his cold, sharp eyes to his lips. Those soft, sculpted lips I had kissed six years ago, the lips that had pressed against my skin, making me feel like the only woman in the universe. A sudden, traitorous wave of raw heat flared in my lower stomach, making me ache for him in a way I hadn't felt in six long years.

Standing there looking at him, my mind spun out of control. I wanted him. My body craved him with a desperate, overwhelming hunger. I would love to kiss those lips all over again. I wanted to lay my head on his broad, solid shoulder again, feeling the steady beat of his heart under my cheek. And God help me, I wanted his huge, heavy dick inside my vagina all over again, filling me up until I screamed his name in the dark just like I used to.

My breath grew shallow, my cheeks flushing hot as my body betrayed every shred of pride I possessed.

And then, like a bucket of ice water poured over my head, the memory hit me.

The bedroom door. The afternoon sun. Jessica and Annabel naked on his king-sized bed. The explicit, raunchy threesome. The sight of his hands on their hips, his lips on their skin, playing with them the exact same way he had played with me.

The image burned into my mind, sharp and horrifying. The heat in my blood turned into a cold, sickening coil of disgust. The sin was unpardonable. He had shared his body with the two poisonous snakes who had treated me like dirt, laughing behind my back while I walked away broken.

"I asked a question," his voice rasped, cutting through the thick silence, "but you just keep staring at me."

His voice brought me crashing back from wonderland.

Panic flared in my chest. I realized I had been sitting there with my mouth slightly open, looking at him with undisguised lust for almost a full minute. Embarrassment washed over me, hot and stinging. I needed to cover it up, I needed to say something, anything, to hide the shame of staring at him like a desperate, needy fool.

"Yes," I blurted out, my voice sounding strained and breathless. "I will handle the case."

To quickly cover up my shame and prove that I was strictly professional, I immediately reached for the intercom on my desk, pressed the button, and dialed my chief executive secretary.

"Karen," I said sharply into the speaker, trying to sound authoritative and composed. "Draft an official press release immediately. Announce and publish publicly across all legal media channels that I will be personally acting as chief defense counsel to help Lord Andrew secure his property portfolio."

Andrew didn't blink. He didn't smile. He didn't say thanks for agreeing to defend his sons' multi-billion-dollar inheritance. He didn't mention the kids. He didn't ask, Erica, how are you? He didn't acknowledge the six years of silence, or the tears I had cried, or the fact that my heart was currently bleeding in front of him.

He simply stood up straight, buttoned his suit jacket, and extended a cold, professional hand across the desk.

"I expect the protective injunctions filed by Friday," he said coldly.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook his hand. His grip was warm, firm, and fleeting. He withdrew his hand, turned on his heel, and walked out of my office without a second glance, the door clicking shut behind him.

I sank backward into my executive chair, burying my face in my hands. A quiet, pathetic sob escaped my lips.

I hated myself. I hated myself for losing control, for letting my body react to him, for letting him see even a tiny glimpse of the effect he still had on me. Because clearly, he didn't care about me. To him, I was just a brilliant lawyer he had cleverly trapped into defending his estate. There was no warmth in his eyes, no affection in his voice, just cold, calculating business.

While I was sitting there, drowning in self-loathing and fighting back tears, my desk phone began to ring loudly.

I wiped my eyes quickly, took a deep breath, and picked up the receiver.

"Erica speaking," I managed to say, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Erica? What on earth are you doing?!"

It was Joe.

Joe was my closest friend and legal colleague in the city—a sharp, upright civil rights attorney who had helped me navigate the local courts when I first moved back from Panama. He was one of the few people who genuinely cared about my well-being without any hidden motives.

"Joe?" I asked, frowning slightly. "What are you talking about?"

"I just saw the public press notification your firm published five minutes ago!" Joe shouted over the line, his voice thick with frustration and disbelief. "Erica, tell me it's a mistake. Why did you agree to defend the most dangerous mafia lord in this entire city? Do you have any idea about all his crimes in the past?"

  • THE DON WANTS HER BACK    THE GIFTS

ERICAI stared at Andrew standing by my hospital bed. My head was still throbbing, but my heart was hurting even more. Looking at his face only reminded me of Nancy, the open shirt, and the deep shame I felt. Not to mention the threesome with my two friends."Can you please stay away from us?" I asked Andrew politely.I was tired of all of this, and I needed him to stay away. He should go and be with Nancy. I hated it that the town knew about the heartbreak, that I was dumped. That was ridiculous! Everyone in the city was talking about how Erica was foolishly in love with Andrew while he was sleeping with other women. It made me look so small, so weak, and so cheap. It made me want to hate him, even though it was hard to hate those lips. Those sweet, warm lips that had kissed me so gently just hours before I crashed my car.I turned my eyes away from him and looked at my mother, who was sitting quietly on the vinyl chair with tears on her face."Maybe we should leave the city and go t

Andrew got too close but I moved backward. My back hit the cold wall of the big room. Of course he came forward and put his lips on mine and began to kiss me.I let him kiss me.His lips were soft and warm, just like I remembered from many years ago. My eyes closed all by themselves. While kissing, I could tell he wanted to grab my breast like he did many years ago, but he did not know if I will let him. He was a gentle man and so he asked, not with a spoken words but facial expression. He looked down at my chest, then looked into my eyes with a soft, silent question. He asked with his eyes, and I nodded my head!God, what was I thinking?I let Andrew fondle my breasts, and then he opened my shirts and my breasts fell off from the bra, silly thing. My heart was beating so fast inside my chest. Thump, thump, thump. My whole body felt hot, and my knees felt like soft jelly. I was already lost and wanted more when someone opened the door!CLICK!The heavy wooden door swung wide open, and

  • THE DON WANTS HER BACK    MY WOMAN

ERICAThe stranger said I left enemies in my house. Andrew said he saved my sons from the enemies and also that my so-called friends drugged him to have a threesome with him. And now Mum confirmed that Jessica took my sons from the house! My whole head was spinning like a big top. Spin, spin, spin. My brain felt so hot and tired, but I could not sleep. I had to know the truth.I went to Jessica's room to confront her, but the room was empty.I pushed the door open, expecting to see her sitting on her bed or painting her nails. But there was nothing. The bed was made flat, the closet doors were wide open, and all her pretty dresses were gone. Not even a single pair of shoes was left on the floor.Mum stood behind me, holding her mouth with both hands. Mum had no idea she already moved out!"Where... where are her bags?" Mum asked in a tiny, shaking voice. "She told me she was just going to the shop!"The look on Mum's face as the two of us were surprised to meet an empty room with all

  • THE DON WANTS HER BACK    COULD IT BE JESSICA?

ERICA"I will do anything to keep my sons safe," Andrew started, his voice heavy as he looked at me in the dimly lit car."Were you the one that took them from the house and brought them to the court?" I yelled at Andrew. My chest was heaving, tears of anger and panic stinging my eyes. "I don't want that exposure for my kids!" I added, slamming my palm against the leather seat."They are my kids as well!" he returned the yell, his jaw clenching tight as he stared back at me."No, they are not!" I fired back, my voice breaking with all the pain I had buried deep inside for years. "Not after all these years! The threesome with my two best friends, your dad killing my dad, taking all his money and making life miserable for my mum and I! Your family did a lot!"I kept yelling at him, laying out every single piece of dirt and betrayal that had broken my life into pieces. The air inside the car felt heavy, thick, and suffocating. After a minute of silence, Andrew spoke in a low, exhausted t

  • THE DON WANTS HER BACK    WHO IS WHO?

ERICAI felt like someone was watching me. No, not someone—it felt like a lot of people were watching me from every corner of the dark alley. My skin felt cold and itchy, like tiny bugs were crawling all over my arms. Then slowly, I began to see faces walking out from the shadows and staring at me. They were huge, scary-looking men with big arms, angry eyes, and dark clothes. They stood in a quiet circle around me, just watching every move I made. But I could not see the very man that made me come here. The man in the black jacket was completely gone. My heart went thump, thump, thump inside my chest, but I held my breath and stood my ground. Then a black SUV stopped by my side. The tires made a sharp screeching sound against the wet ground, and the dark window rolled down."Get in and be saved," he said to me. His voice was deep, heavy, and very serious."I don't know who you are and I am here to know how a stranger had access to my sons," I replied. I held my leather bag tightly aga

  • THE DON WANTS HER BACK    LOST

ERICAI looked at the tall, sharp-faced stranger standing in front of my boys. A cold shiver ran all the way down my spine, freezing the blood in my veins. My hands tightened on my sons' soft shoulders, pulling them firmly behind my back."I have never seen this man in my entire life and now he has access to my sons? Where is my mum?" I asked the strange figure. I asked out of fear, but I had to show courage even though I was scared. I kept my head high and my chin up, refusing to let him see my hands trembling. The man tilted his head slightly. His eyes were dark, hollow, and completely lifeless, like two black stones staring right through me. A small, cruel smile touched the corner of his lips."Her fate will be determined based on how you pass judgment today," he said in a quiet, smooth voice that sent a wave of sheer terror straight to my heart."How dare you?!" I attacked the man, lunging forward with my fist raised, my mind exploding with pure motherly rage. "If you lay a single
