LOGINAuthor's POV"Who are you always calling and expecting calls from?" She asked him on one occasion as his suspicious activities continued and just like Clara expected, he acted totally clueless like she was speaking in a foreign language. "What do you mean?" He asked. "Are you saying that you haven't noticed your movements of late? The way you always look at your phone, how absent minded you have been?" She asked and this time, he let out a slight scoff. "Oh that, that is nothing." He simply waved it aside and changed the topic. Clara was confused and worried but since he didn't want to open up to her, she had not much of an option. Clara didn't want to push further since Julian refused to agree to what she saw at the mall, or agree that he had been acting strangely of late. She decided to drop it since it didn't affect her trip in any way. If Julian was secretly meeting up with Elena for some reason, as long as it didn't concern her, she wouldn't bother about it. The preparation
Clara's Pov "Are you good?" I asked Julian when I noticed his mood change on our way back home. He nodded but it wasn't good for an answer. I didn't press. I overheard their conversation and I was certain that whatever was going on with him had to do with the conversation he had with Adrian. "Is there something going through your mind?" Again, he shook his head. "Would you mind stopping at that restaurant?" I pointed at the 4star restaurant we usually frequented. "I'm famished." And I was certain he was famished as well. We didn't have anything for breakfast before leaving the house. Julian made a turn without saying a word. "What would you like?" I asked when the waiter stood by our side, waiting to take our orders. I even wanted him to make the orders for the both of us like he usually did but he just waved his hand. "Anything is fine." I wasn't satisfied with his reply but I went ahead to place the order. We went back to the house to get Leo and freshen up for our day ou
Author's POVSilas raised his hand and waved Elena away and she scurried out of the dining room, abandoning her cleaning equipment while at it. He brought out a pack of cigarettes from his back pocket, picked one stick from the array, placed its bottom in between his lips and brought out a lighter from his pocket. He tried twice before the fire stayed, then he brought it to the cigarette that was held in place. He replaced the lighter and pack of cigarettes then used his index and middle finger to pick the stick from in between his lips then blew out the smoke. He repeated the process of sucking and blowing out the smoke until the dining room was covered in smoke. Walking out of the polluted space, he brought his phone from his pocket and called a number he had to type into his phone. It wasn't saved in his phone. "Hello, boss.." The other line connected and a young man replied, sounding energetic and loyal. "I want you to look into Adrian. Report what's going on with him, any n
Clara"Why do you want to spend so much money on something that is already covered by the company? Why pause your life here because I won't be here for a year?" I asked, ignoring the previous words he'd said about his mafia friend. "You and Leo are my life. Anywhere you two are is where my home is..." He said with the calmest voice but I shrugged it off mentally. "I am not your family Julian, we are just... Friends." He blinked severally at my words but I didn't take it back. He was becoming something else with the way he was being protective of me especially. It felt like there was a lump in my throat for the first few seconds after I finished but I swallowed hard to push it back. After painful seconds of silence in the room, Julian finally spoke. "Is this what you really want?" He asked, his voice final like he'd accepted his fate and he would accept my final decision. I nodded once. "I don't want to end my career because of what ifs." I replied, my voice called too and I hope
Clara's Pov I went about my business, packing our bags in my room, ignoring Julian's presence since he thought it was a wise decision to walk out on me to meet the person who mattered the most to him, I ignored him as well. And for the next six hours we spent under the same roof, I went about my business. We all had dinner at the dining table and I focused squarely on my food. Julian played father with Leo, feeding him and paying so much attention to him and making small talk but that was not my concern. After I was done eating, I went upstairs first. Leaving him and Leo behind. The nanny would have everything cleared and washed so there was no need for me to hang around the place. I returned to my room and continued to pack the boxes we would be using for our trip. I was done packing the things we needed for the cold. Like the thick boots, the thick coats and hand knitted caps I got from a very good vendor online, I moved on to the next item in my list which was packing our clo
Author's povHe sat on his magnified seat and threw a vase across the room causing it to shatter and making everyone in the room freeze. He sucked in the cigarette for a few seconds and blew the smoke out, he repeated for a couple more times, causing the room to feel choked but still, no one could breathe a word or make a reaction. Except they wanted to meet their maker. Silas sat on the chair opposite him, his body shaking from extreme fear but he couldn't say a word. No one could. Not even the privileged son of the Hollingsworth company. "Y'all are a bunch of mistakes!" He yelled, shoving the half full bottle of liquor to the ground. The pieces scattered everywhere, some of the men who stood close to him were hurt by the pieces of shattered glass but neither of them moved. Silas's lips quivered and his hands shivered as he tried to speak. He thought carefully about his choice of words but no matter how long he thought, nothing seemed perfect to say. Still, he had to say somet

Clara's povIf I say I didn't regret helping Adrian, it would be a lie. Everytime I remember his words telling me I was a killjoy and couldn't behave like other people. I also remember Roxy's words telling me I sat back and let another woman help my husband when I was the one who did the whole wor
