Carl did not open his mouth.

He did not move.

His body stiffened under Delphine’s touch, like a man fighting a war inside himself. The warmth of her lips was still fresh on his mouth, but his mind refused to respond.

Delphine felt it immediately.

She pulled away slowly and stared at him, shock written clearly on her face. This was not the Carl she knew. The Carl she had always controlled, the Carl who would do anything just to look into her eyes, just to touch her skin, that Carl will be jumping for joy now. But he looked different.

She knew she had been using him, and she also knew he had known.

Yet, no matter how badly she treated him in the past, he never resisted her like this. He never pushed her away with silence.

The rejection angered her.

“A new leader has finally been installed in the Wyndham family dynasty.” The voice of the news reporter filled the living room, loud. “The empire has announced the popular actor, Carl Hompton—now known as Carl Wyndham—as the new CEO of the Wyndham Empire. This comes after Gabriel Wyndham stepped down following the shock and trauma of his missing pregnant wife, Mrs. Isla Wyndham, who has been missing for one month.” The reporter’s voice continued, but it slowly faded into the background as Diana’s crying grew louder. Her sobs were broken and painful, like each breath hurt her chest. Betty quickly picked up the remote and reduced the volume of the television. “I think you should just switch it off,” Charles muttered, his voice heavy with sadness. “It’s not helping anyone.” Betty nodded and turned the television off completely. The room fell into silence, except for Diana’s cries. Diana leaned weakly against Charles’ chest, her hands clutching his shirt as she sobbed like a woma

2 John stood up suddenly, as if he could no longer bear sitting still. His face was tight with tension, his thoughts heavy. He picked up his phone and walked a few steps away before making a quick call. “Yes, it’s me,” he said quietly but firmly. “Put her on the line.” He ended the call and turned back toward Gabriel. Without saying another word, he stretched out his hand and passed the phone to him. “This is all I can do for you,” John said softly. “Talk to her. For now.” Gabriel’s hands trembled slightly as he collected the phone. His heart pounded so hard it felt like it would break through his chest. He lifted the phone to his ear and waited. He waited to hear Isla’s voice. John did not stay to watch. He turned around immediately and walked out of the room, closing the door gently behind him. He knew this moment was private. As he walked down the hallway, the sounds of quiet crying reached him. When he entered the sitting room, Gladys was still sobbing softly, her face bu

“What do you mean my wife is missing?” Gabriel’s voice shook as he spoke into the phone. His grip tightened on the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white. “I left her at home not long ago. She didn’t tell me she was going anywhere. Speak to me, damn it!” His palm slammed hard against the car wheel, the sound echoing inside the vehicle. “I’m sorry, sir,” Stone said from the other end, his voice tense. “Her bodyguards said she left the house immediately after you did. She drove herself.” Gabriel’s heart dropped. “Please, sir,” Stone continued carefully. “I think you should come to the Wyndham mansion. Your parents are very worried.” “I’m on my way,” Gabriel said coldly. “And by the time I get there, I want to know exactly where my wife is.” He ended the call abruptly. The engine roared as Gabriel sped off. He drove recklessly, his mind filled with images of his wife, and of her little bomb. He barely noticed how close he came to crashing into another car as he swerved past

“What is going on here?” Gabriel’s deep voice came from behind Isla, sharp and filled with concern. He walked into the scene with steady, deliberate steps. His tall figure seemed to fill the space instantly. Landon was beside him, his face serious for once, his usual playful mood nowhere to be seen. The moment Isla heard her husband’s voice, everything inside her broke. She turned and ran straight into Gabriel’s arms. Her strength failed her completely as she threw herself against his chest. The tears she had been holding back burst free, and a loud sob escaped her lips. Gabriel caught her immediately. His arms wrapped around her tightly, as if he was shielding her from the world itself. One hand pressed against her back, the other cradled her head protectively. His jaw clenched hard, his eyes turning cold and dangerous as he looked past her trembling body. “Stone,” Gabriel said slowly, his voice controlled but filled with restrained fury. “What happened? Why is my wife like
