Chapter 6

LESLIE

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"I'll go get the door," Caden said and stood up. I heard him open the door and a female voice spoke to him.

I ignored it and faced my food but I noticed that he was taking longer than expected.

I stood up from my seat and walked towards the door. And there, I saw Caden hugging a woman.

"Caden, who is she?" I asked from behind the door. The girl pulled away from the hug and stepped into the house. Caden locked the door and came inside as well. I stared at them with my arms akimbo.

We just got married and he is already bringing someone into our home?

Well, not like I care though.

"Um... Lauren this is Ivy, my cousin and Ivy, this is my wife Lauren." Caden introduced with a smile.

For some reason I didn't know, I heaved a sigh of relief.

"Hi Lauren, pleased to meet you." The young pretty girl smiled at me.

"Hi Ivy, you are welcome." I returned the greeting with a smile.

"Please do come in." Caden invited her in before I could even say it. Ivy smiled and walked to the couch and sat down.

"I'm sorry I could not make it to your wedding yesterday. My flight was delayed because of some issues and because of that, I came back late into the night. And I decided to visit you first thing this morning.

Please don't be mad at me." Ivy explained and gave Caden a pouty face.

"It's fine Ivy, I totally understand." Caden smiled at her.

"Pardon my manners, what should I get for you?" I asked and quickly stood up from the couch I shared with Caden.

"Anything is fine," Ivy said.

"You know what, why don't you join us for breakfast? We were just about having breakfast," Caden said.

"No, no. I can't do that Caden, it's your first breakfast together as a couple and I wouldn't want to interrupt you. It's my bad for coming this early." Ivy stated with a guilty smile.

"It's fine. You are not interrupting anything," I said with a convincing smile.

Just then, her phone rang. "I need to be on my way now. I have an appointment. Here, I bought you a gift. I don't know exactly what you like but I decided to go for what my instinct told me." Ivy smiled and winked at me.

She gave me the beautifully wrapped box she came in with. "Thank you Ivy. I think I will really like the gift." I told her.

"I'm sure you will. Congratulations on getting married." She smiled.

"Thank you."

"And where is mine?" Caden asked with a pout and it made him look childish but sexy.

His pink lips were puckered and it was screaming "kiss me." He looked sexy yet innocent.

"Do you think I wouldn't get you a present? Of course I did." Ivy chuckled softly.

She brought out a fancy gift bag and stretched it out toward Caden who looked rather happy. "Congratulations Caden."

"Thank you Ivy, you are the best." Caden smiled and hugged her.

We saw Ivy to the door and she congratulated us once again. We waved goodbye to her and locked the door.

"I will go upstairs to drop my gift." I told Caden and hurriedly walked away before he could even reply.

When I came back downstairs, he was already eating. I went back to my breakfast and continued eating.

We both ate in silence but we kept stealing glances at each other.

"Um...do you want me to show you around the house? I've been here before but I don't think you have," Caden said to me after we were both done with breakfast.

There was nothing for me to do so, I agreed.

He showed me the study room that the both of us could use, different tables with each desktop, he also showed me the resting room which had a massage chair, a comfy overstuffed chair that could support the back and other things too.

He also showed me the gym which was wide, spacious and had all the equipments one would need to excersise. I did not expect to see a gym in the house.

"In case you don't want to sleep with me on our bedroom like yesterday, you can use this room as yours," Caden said as we got to one of the rooms next to our bedroom.

I blushed in embarrassment and bent my head.

"And this is the guest room." He told me.

"The other rooms aren't in use. Maybe our kids are going to use them," Caden said and I suddenly started coughing. He looked up at me and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

He seems to enjoy teasing me.

"Isn't it too early to start talking about kids? I mean, we just got married and we haven't um...you know...ugh...consumated our marriage yet," I glared at him.

"That's not my fault. You don't want it and I don't intend to force you," Caden replied.

I suddenly felt bad and guilty but I was quick to shake the feelings away.

"Let's go to the backyard. There is a swimming pool outside." Caden broke the awkward silence between us.

"Sure." I quickly replied. Caden led the way while I trailed behind him.

The swimming pool was wide and the water sparkled. It was beautiful.

There was a little resting area close by the swimming pool.

The house or should I call it duplex, is amazing and huge.

"The house is so beautiful." I found myself grinning from ear to ear.

"I know right? Grandpa specifically picked it for us," Caden said.

"Shouldn't we do something? I'm bored to death." I grumbled.

"Yeah, me too. Do you want to maybe watch a movie together in the sitting room?" Caden asked. "You are boring." I told him and rolled my eyes.

"I'll be in the study room. See you later." I added and walked away.

I got to the study room. It was beautiful with lots of books in the shelf. I took out a romance novel and plonked myself on the swivel chair.

"Lauren? My dad and grandparents are here." Caden knocked on the door.

I checked the time on the clock beside the table and I gasped in surprise. I've been here for the past four hours that I didn't notice it and I was already done with three romance novels.

"I'll be right there." I answered, then quickly put the books away. I arranged my hair and when I looked down at what I was wearing, I groaned.

I wasn't even wearing fancy clothes to welcome them after our wedding.

Caden and I went to the sitting room together. Grandpa was on a wheelchair while grandma was sitting on the couch. Then, Caden's father sat on another couch.

I looked at the floor and gasped, there were lots of items on the floor. So many.

"Grandpa." I smiled at him and bowed lightly. He smiled back and patted my back. Then, I greeted grandma and Caden's father too.

"What are all these?" Caden asked, turning to look at his father.

"These are the gifts from your wedding yesterday. Lauren's parents couldn't make it here with us so, we decided to bring everything on behalf of them too.

They are all yours." His dad replied with a light smile.

...........

We settled around the dinning table to eat the scrumptious lunch. The long dinning table was filled with all sorts of food, drinks and fruits. It was like a feast.

The sight was beautiful too. I sat beside Caden while his dad sat opposite facing him.

Grandpa and grandma sat opposite each other.

"So, when are we expecting a great grand kid?" Grandpa suddenly asked and I found myself choking on my food.

"I know right? Lauren wouldn't corporate." Caden smirked and I choked even more.
