Chapter 5

CADEN

Lauren suddenly broke the kiss and pushed me off her body.

"This isn't right!" She said and ran out of the room. It was something I didn't understand. I mean, we are married and for what I know, we both wanted this marriage even if it was arranged by our parents.

So, what wasn't right with spending the night together when we are legally married?

I stood up from the bed and sighed. I went to the closet and took out my pyjamas. I went to the changing room and changed into them.

I sat on the bed and placed my laptop on my thighs and started going through some work stuffs as I've neglected some office works because of the preparation of the wedding.

After working for some hours, Lauren wasn't still in the room and it made me worried. I checked the time and it was a minute past 11pm.

I climbed down from the bed, wore my flip flops and walked out of the room.

"Lauren?" I called out quietly but I didn't hear any sound. I went to the sitting room and the light was still turned on. There, Lauren was sleeping uncomfortably on the couch with her hands covering her chest.

It was as if she was protecting her body. I chuckled silently and carried her gently into my arms. She held unto me tighter as I walked out of the sitting room.

I got to the room and placed her as quietly and as gently as I could.

I stared at her cute face while sleeping for a while before covering her with the duvet. I moved her hair covering her face to the other side. She stirred a bit but went back to sleep.

"Goodnight Lauren." I whispered silently into the night and kissed her forehead.

LESLIE

I yawned lightly and opened my eyes slowly. I was lying on the bed and immediately I realized that, I quickly stood up and checked my body.

Thankfully, my clothes were still intact. That means, nothing happened between Caden and I the previous night. I breathed out a sigh of relief.

Did Caden carry me to the bed last night or did I sleep walk and laid on the bed? I couldn't quite figure out how I ended up in the bed.

But my subconsciousness told me Caden carried me to the bed.

I looked beside me but he wasn't on the bed. And I breathed out another sigh of relief. I managed to escape us having any intimacy last night but for how long will I be able to avoid it?

Just then, the bathroom door opened and Caden walked into the room with only a towel tied around his waist.

Wow! I could take a better and clearer view of him as it was morning and everywhere was bright. I took my time to study his graceful body.

He wasn’t a male model but he should have been. The lush, mother lode-gold hair he groomed so carefully had a rippling quality, a sign of his rude health. It was dripping wet and it was obvious that he had just stepped out of the shower.

The aquiline nose he sported complemented his prominent cheekbones. Handsome in an understated way, his basalt jaw and spartan shoulders spoke of strength. He possessed a latent, leonine power and always walked with purpose and authority.

Now, from what I observed, his best feature was his entrancing, wayfarer-blue eyes. Sloe shaped, they could shine as bright as the evening stars when they were a-light with joy. At other times, they could resemble two liquid-blue pools of flashing fire. They were beautiful.

I swallowed my saliva as my eyes trailed down to his biceps and the dripping water that went down to his legs too. How can someone be this hot and handsome?

"Stop drooling will you? Are you done checking me out?" His voice suddenly brought me back to reality.

I looked away in embarrassment and closed my slightly opened mouth. He caught me staring and checking him out so intensely, it was so embarrassing.

Being embarrassed was even an understatement.

"Are you going to work already?" I managed to ask when I couldn't find any word to say to him.

"No, grandpa gave me a month off from work. He wanted me to focus more on you and our marriage," Caden said with a sly smirk.

That smirk made him even hotter. Wait, did he just say focus on me and our marriage?

"Come back to your senses Leslie, you can't be attracted to him. He isn't yours. He is your sister's husband!" I reminded myself in my head.

"Oh! Okay. I will make us breakfast," I said and got down from the bed.

"There's no need. Just have your bath and come downstairs for breakfast. The cook already made something simple." Caden replied with a smile.

"Oh!" I mouthed and nodded my head.

I took my clothes and went inside the bathroom. When I was done bathing, I wore my baggy shorts, a white shirt and a cardigan.

I went downstairs to meet Caden eating breakfast. He ate so gracefully like a prince.

I joined him, sitting across him in the dinning table.

We were having a toasted bread, egg and milk.

My eyes trailed to the bowl of strawberries in front of me and I frowned my face.

"I don't eat strawberries," I grumbled under my breathe.

"Huh? I specifically asked the cook to get them because you told me one of our dates that they're your favourites," Caden said and looked up at me. He looked at me with a questioning stare.

Damn! I forgot! Strawberries are Lauren's favourites but not mine.

What excuse was I going to give Caden?

Argh!

"Uhm...what I meant was that, I don't feel like eating any today." I lied smoothly.

"Oh! Alright. I understand." He nodded his head and it looked like he believed me.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"I'll go get the door," Caden said and stood up. I heard him open the door and a female voice spoke to him.

I ignored it and faced my food but I noticed that he was taking longer than expected.

I stood up from my seat and walked towards the door. And there, I saw Caden hugging a woman.
