Chapter 8

My heart raced as I don't know how I would answer that question. "mhm.." I cleared my throat to purchase time and think of something. All these times, I was thinking of Sebastian. I knew he felt something about me but had a crush on someone else. Now I don't even know where he stands. It was already 5 minutes that I'd been in silence and I haven't answered Alex's question yet. He then started giving me some bizarre look.. to mean he was already expecting a negative answer. I looked at him and smiled, I feel nothing for him anyway. But frankly, that look he gave was going to force some false words out of me.

"Umm..yeah" I enunciated. I was going to continue before we saw the waiter being shoved from the door side as she fell on the floor to land on her butt.

some guys pushed their way inside the restaurant and acted all big in blue and black. The customers all abandoned their food and began to flee.

"Damn! Alex gave an instant hiss and turned in the direction opposing the guys like he was obscuring his face. I couldn't deduce what was going on. I stood up thinking Alex would do the same but he was still sitting and hiding his face. This time, everyone left but me and Alex.

"What are you doing Alex? I mistrusted in confusion. I was standing, facing the frightening guys before I barely saw a confined shelf shaking. That must be the owner of the restaurant trying to hide. I turned back at Alex and his eyes showed that he was frightened by the guys.

The four of them hauled close to me, unhurriedly and whizzing at the same time. Their mood wasn't something funny and they were not so infuriated at the same time.

One of them suddenly positioned himself at the front, making some noise...

"Where have you been? Since all these while.. Alex!" he asked with a frustrated smirk plastered on his ugly face.

"So you have the guts to vacate the casino after going home with such a huge amount of money, and that imbecile friend of yours. Huh??

Oh look here.. Alex's now chilling in a black suit with some new fiancee". He said, glaring at me while the rest of them burst out laughing. He moved very close to me but I was still standing like I was not terrified by their presence. I soon shiver in fear when he held my alluring hair and drew me closer to him because they made the thoughts of the previous night flow again.

"Stay away from her! " Alex who had been mute for a long time roared at him angrily.

"Sure I will.. Sire! " The man burst out laughing and looked back just to see how his buddies were laughing too. He pushed my head forward in a manner of flinging me away while I sit on the floor. He turned to Alex, held him by his neck, and tried to raise him. Alex struggled with him but his comrades soon joined making the fight unfaithful. They crunched their fists into Alex's face and beat him black and blue. they were tossing him over like a to-and-fro bulb from one guy to another.

I was still laying on the floor and before I knew what was happening, Alex was already mouth bleeding. I couldn't help but begged them to stop. They wouldn't just listen to me.

Alex was all weak after they seriously whack him . I thought they were done and I rushed to help him up but the creepy guy held my arm and forced me backward again. The defenseless Alex was still on the floor bleeding. The blood from his mouth stained the floor as he lay down helplessly. A tear rolled down my eye while I pitied him. I was praying that they leave him soon but unfortunately, The bad guy held him up again asking him some uncommon questions.

"Where.. is the money?" he snarled at Alex who could barely look at him.

Alex strived hard to speak and the guys paid him good attention with their ears wide open.

"Go... To.. Hell! he sneered at him like all the blows he had received were ineffective.

"What an interesting guy," I thought in my mind. I still empathized with him even though he was acting that way.

This time, the guy got furious and pushed Alex to lay down again. He began to match him while Alex covered his head with his folded arms. Other guys joined in to hurl their feet at him. I didn't have to listen before I could hear the painful sound. That was too much already but I didn't want to get mad like what happened the previous day. I promised Seb that I would not show that part of me again.

"Stop that! Stop that! I cried out loud but... They didn't listen. I continued to shout and plead at the same time but it was futile. I thought Alex was going to die.

My last cry echoed in different tones. I looked sideways in anger, a strand of my hair was already white.

"Am sorry Seb... It's happening...
