SERENA'S POV

After watching May disappear to the first floor for a bit, I faced the stairs again. This time heading to mine. My floor. My room. My dearest sanctuary.

"Home, at last" I sighed softly, kicking off my heels. Hands already rummaging for my phone, to do the one thing that'd suddenly become natural.

To contact him.

Call him.

Axel.

The line rang immediately, "ahh," I sighed, letting my back hit the soft welcoming sheets of my bed. "I missed you my sweet bed. Missed you so much."

"That better be for me, cause I've been waiting."

I sprang up, ears alert. And sure enough the line had connected, reason for that playful impatient words just now. "You're always so impatient," I teased, smiling.

"Maybe because I intend on telling an actual person that I miss them, rather than saying that to my pillow. Like some people." I rolled my eyes, chuckling now.

"Seriously, you have kept me waiting." He complained, rustling in the background. Making me assume he was eithe

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 141

SERENA'S POV "E-Eliot?"He stared at me, features dark. Surprised but not so surprised. "So this is where you've been?"What?"All this time... This is where you've stayed? In this house, with my mom... and I searched everywhere for you."Oh, he was referring to me staying here after leaving the house. But how did he know to come here right now?"Serena," he stepped closer. "Let's talk. We need to talk, I need to explain and-"No." I breathed, halting his steps. "No talking. I don't want to talk. Goodbye." I pushed the door close then. Aiming to shut him out, same way I'd opened up to him. Then I'd head back upstairs like nothing happened. Like he didn't show up out of the blue after what just happened to me on my bed.But that didn't work.Just before the door jammed shut, his foot stopped it. Gray eyes quick to understand what I had in mind without me speaking at all. "Serena, you-I pushed on the door then, not letting him speak. Pressing my body against it, putting pressure. Him

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 140

SERENA'S POV The rest of the morning flew by after that. Axel and I basically catching up, first about everything that had happened over here, then about him. Laughing and making jokes at the absolute ridiculous things he mentioned happened on his little 'trip'.His usual self really, and I was grateful. No longer did he have that gloomy or silent hate look, even if I asked for it by wanting answers in the first place. Honestly, after that conversation in his car, don't think I want to know anything anymore. I don't want to hear of it, be it about my family or Eliot or any of the shady things surrounding him. I wanted to know nothing, think nothing and pretend they didn't happen at all. Focus on my fresh start and nothing else. But all of that, imagine what happened the moment I laid down to rest?"Take it,""Take all of it," he whispered, eyes half lidded. Lost, his hands deep in my hair. Holding me in place. "Don't stop sucking, Serena. Don't stop ..."And I didn't. Taking pleasur

SERENA’S POV“M-married?” I stammered, stunned. “You were married? To Who? Who were you marri- when??”He heaved a breath, hands on the wheels as we passed a traffic light. “Her name is Belinda, and we… we kind of got involved a while back. Before your wedding. She’s a reporter.”“A reporter." I blinked, "I thought you hated reporters, but you married one? YOU are married, Axel?” “Was." He corrected, "Was married, until about half an hour ago.”“Oh my God.” I whispered, dressing back on my seat. “Oh my God. Wh- and you didn't tell me? You got married and didn’t tell me, Axel."I couldn't believe it. "All these while you... Wait you got together before my wedding?" I faced him again, "That is before you even ghosted me right? for 4 years. You got married before then and yet you didn't think to tell me? Me? Why?!"“I didn’t want to bother you."“Bother me?" I blew hot, stunned. "You didn't want to bother me, your friend. How? I was your friend, Axel. I am still, right now, and- wait, d

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 138

SERENA’S POV Eliot’s the devil. The real devil in disguise! How could he and those sleazy lawyers of his twist everything? Saying he was the victim? He was attacked by my father and May, when he, Eliot knew everything from the start and intentionally went along with it just so he could have his way. How does any of that make him out to be the victim? If anything I was the victim here! Me. I was the one so cruelly schemed and calculated by them for several months! Who was to tell they weren’t even in on it from the start, huh? All of them wanted to get rid of me somehow! “I didn’t do anything. I didn’t do anything this time, I promise Serena!” he said eagerly, like I was stupid. Like I was born yesterday and could not see his works in everything that had happened. “Let’s talk. We can talk this out.” I almost laughed at that. Laughed in his face while the judge that should’ve ruled in my favour left us standing in the hall. So much for thinking I would be free today. So much for co

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 137

ELIOT'S POV “We do not, your honour!” My lawyer also stepped up, “My client here, Mr. Beckett has already taken responsibility for his actions. He issued a public statement, cleared his wife’s name, removed the other party from his residence, ensured she got justice and is now also committed to rebuilding his marriage. What he seeks today is not dissolution, but reconciliation, your honour.”“Reconciliation?” she spat, thoroughly displeased. “You dare say that here after literally dragging me through hell for years, Eliot? After everything you've done? You and my disgusting family?! You want reconciliation now because it’s convenient isn't it?”“No.” I shook my head, throat tight as I turned to face her. “No I do not. I do not want reconciliation because it's convenient, I'm doing It because I want to. I want you, I want us to work this out.”I could say a thousand apologies. A thousand explanations, but none would stop the ache in my chest as I took in the spite in those blue eyes.

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 136

ELIOT'S POV I've long waited for this moment. This exact moment when she'll walk in, when I'll see her. Finally see her, talk to her and just… just see her.And my world… none of it could compare. My anticipation, anxiety, imaginations that wouldn't even let me sit still at the office, back at the house or even right here in court. None of it could compare to the absolute dazzling, shiny and intoxicating figure stepping into the hall.Her.Every step she took, the stupidly dull hall just faded away in accordance. Showing respect cause it couldn't possibly stand still in her presence. As she soaked the entire space. Perfect, just like her.I couldn't even decide if it was the dress she had on, the God damned sheer white fabric that did nothing but reveal all the perfect curves of that heavenly body. Wrapping all over her skin like a mattress. Not a skin shown, everywhere was covered, top to ankles but yet!Yet… merely looking at her did things to me. So many things, and none involved
