ELIOT’S POV

Serena is here?

Right here and… dressed like that??

“What in the world…” I trailed off softly, stunned as I watched her effortlessly join the crowd. Smiling at a few persons that locked eyes with her. Shoulders squared, head held high and eyes cutting through the hall like a sly predator. Her targets? Our souls.

It was both unnerving, intense and alluring at the same time! Piquing my interest.

But all that ended the moment my view of her got blocked. Huh? “What the hell?” My eyebrows furrowed, a frown immediately coming on. “Woah, who is that? I don’t know her” a comment came filtering to my ears. Awfully reminding me of how long I had been staring, steps halted at the center of the hall where women and gossips abound.

“Whoever she is, she’s looks good! She and the delicious looking man standing with her now.” My frown deepened, eyes returning back to her now. To the figure that had blocked my view, which I was now realizing was that of a man. A broad backed man fashioned

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 56

SERENA’S POVA gush of cold air slapped at us right then and there. Putting a halt to everything, and then, “Oh my God!” a woman’s startled voice filled the air. Her brown curls with highlights entering my line of sight, confirming just who I thought it was.Isabella.“Oh my, I’m sorry. I didn’t know…” Eliot didn’t wait for her to finish. His rock-hard self that had refused to budge earlier, quickly flying off me like I was some disease he was afraid to catch. And without a word, he walked out.Just like that.Leaving me behind. Frozen and glued to the wall like I hadn’t gotten the memo. Eyes blinking, breath unsettled as the harsh realization of what just happened and how Isabella was staring at me right now, slowly descended on me.First of all, what just happened?Wh-what did… what was Eliot attempting to do? Kiss me?Me?And more importantly, was I going to let him? “Are you lactating now, Sister?” Isabella’s voice came again. Cutting through my thoughts as my eyes went to her.

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 55

SERENA’S POV“There. That’s better,” I mumbled, staring at the now wet spot on the upper front of my dress. And by that, I meant the bust area. My boobs part to be exact. “Ugh, kinda looks weird now. One side darker than the other. I can’t even find a hair dryer or something. How can a female restroom of this standard not have a hair dryer? So what, I will be stuck with one wet boob and one dry boob?”Ugh, great.Just great. Good job Serena, go stain yourself some more.I just sighed, abandoning the disposable hand towels and heading for the toilet stalls on my right. “Better take a pee since I’m already here,”And thank God I did. Cause the quantity of urine that left me? You could’ve sworn I had drowned a tank of water or something. “Must be those drinks,” I mumbled, amazed as cleaned myself up. “I really shouldn’t have anymore, no matter what Axel says. No more drinks!”It was even a wonder I wasn’t drunk or feeling tipsy yet. Although he did say most of the drinks weren’t really s

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    CHAPTER 54

SERENA’S POVThe moment I stepped into the hall, first thing that hit me was the unbelievable cold air! Most definitely from the air conditioners, but that screamed bad news for me, given my dress. I was anything but prepared to handle such cold!Still, I sucked it up. “Head high, chin down Serena. Walk slowly,” I muttered, repeating mom’s instructions under my breath. “Let them feed off your every move.”And they did.Literally everyone’s eyes were fixed at the entrance as I walked in. Maybe it was my heels? They did click loudly against the floors. Too loud for my liking even, but I didn’t let it show. “Thank you,” I smiled, a guard helping me down the red carpet as I finally joined fashionable elites of the city. The Inner Circle. And they were fashionable, I tell you. Glittering with diamonds, emeralds, golds and shit like stars fighting for attention. Could blind you if you weren’t careful. They didn’t make a move for small talks though. No surprise there. Just staring and whispe

ELIOT’S POVThe Sovereign Society.Inner Circle Gathering… this was it. A dark themed hall covered with unnecessary flashy lights suspended in the air as crystal chandeliers. Black & white marble floors, deep red carpets matching the high drapes decorating the entire hall, champagne stations scattered in all four corners of the wide spaced hall. The rules were simple; no invite, no entry. And above all, no press.“Can we have the caviar now?” Ambrose Harrington, a 64-year-old Senator and political royalty sounded out. Gesturing to a waitstaff as he sat at his table. An uncommon air of superiority rising off him, making me scrunch my nose in disgust as other guests fawned over him.But I guess it couldn’t be helped. He was after all old money. Like most persons present. I let my eyes wander off him to other activities in the buzzing crowd. Immediately, spotting an average built man dressed in black velvet suit, an all-white dressed lady on his arm. Dressed to match, as they made their

SERENA’S POV“Ready?”I took a deep breath, one last time to calm my nerves. “Ready,” I smiled, and right after the sound of curtains being pulled apart filled the air.The bright light from the fitting lounge pouring in as I stood, slightly skeptical as my eyes took it all in. The massive floor length mirrors on every corner of the wide spaced lounge, the cream comfotabele couches to match, smiling faces of the assistants standing around and finally, a set of baby blue eyes. Just staring up at me from his phone. No words said.A few seconds passed and still nothing. No words, no comments. “Is something wrong?” I voiced out, my voice slightly worried now. But I didn’t even wait for a response before stepping down from the podium the attendants had helped me change on.My legs quickly led me to the path of the mirrors. A startling gasp leaving my lips as I stared right back at my own reflection. Not believing my eyes. “Oh God,” I breathed silently.Standing face to face was someone tha
