Chapter 168

SERENA'S POV

"He did what?!"

I blinked, startled as I watched him get up. The hostility on both his features and voice, a shock to me.

"H-he made a proposal." I stammered, repeating my words. "Not marriage. A business kind of proposal."

"Business kind?" He paused, the words registering. "A business proposal."

"Yes,"

"Oh. Ohhh! Then you gave me a scare there, Princess B." He chuckled, his features breaking to reveal a smile underneath. A relieved one too. Probably the brightest he'd smiled since we got here, and that was saying a lot.

I mean, it's Axel.

He's always smiling. Always jovial. But today... He wasn't so much.

"I thought that block of ice finally lost his mind and proposed to you despite an inconclusive divorce." He said, reminding me cause yeah.

Right.

We were still getting divorced.

I hadn't thought about that for a while. Not after last night. This morning.

"That was scary," Axel muttered, sitting back down on the blanket spread out underneath us. A basket of

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 171

SERENA'S POV Axel was right. The contract did hold some unbelievable benefits if I took it.Other than the obvious visibility, I'd also get to partner with several local and international brands. That stage alone made my desire for a solo runway even more believable to my own ears.I could pull it off with that kind of network. I mean sure I'd have to really upgrade my current production process and labour. But it just meant more speed was needed to be put in for the getting an official building thing.I needed to get a place. Launch the collections I had in mind and make complete and absolute use of the opportunity been delivered unto my lap.But of course, I did pause to wonder what he was to gain from all of these. Eliot.I wasn't stupid. Not one bit. He wasn't the kind of man to do things without benefiting anything. A lethal schemer. He went along with a scheme directly against his wife just because it aligned with his set goals, didn't he?He would gain as much as he was giving

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 170

ELIOT'S POV Only after leaving her and heading back to the house, replaying it all again in my head did I realise something.I was wrong.I was wrong to have said things like that. Right from the time I started with stuff about knowing everything about fashion and what she needed. Even if it were the truth, don't really think it should've come out like that. Especially after seeing her features get skeptical. That should've been the hint. The hint. 'Take a hint next time, will you?' I mentally scolded myself, going up the stairs to my bedroom but immediately reversing when I realised I was heading for the shower. A force of habit no doubt. But no way was I washing her off so soon.Rather, I moved to my study to face the pile of workload I hadn't been able to do all these while she possessed my mind. It was during that it came in.A text. Her text."I'm considering taking you up on your offer, but they're things I need to ask first."My pulse quickened instantly, hands grabbing and

ELIOT'S POV This past week...It has been nothing short of horrendous. I had to sit back, wait for her. For her call, text, response online to the absurd move I'd taken out of pure desperation. My eagerness to get her to talk to me driving me all the way. It was stupid. So stupid. But doing it, I realised something.I realised that there were lots of stupid things I wanted to do, but didn't until now. They were tons of stupid things, very stupid that I'd been wanting to do...for her. With her.But I didn't.And where did that land me? What did I get at the end?Nothing. She, several miles away from my reach. Unable to talk to her, see her or touch her.I wanted to touch her. I wanted to keep her close so she won't go missing from my side again.I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to feel her lips on mine, her breath...watch that dazed look in her eyes whenever I held her. I wanted to wake up next to her and just watch her. Watch those damned black waves sprawled all around her, creating

SERENA'S POV Trouble. That was the one word to describe the state of the man standing at my doorstep by the time I swung the door open. A pure definition of unholy, delicious trouble. Dark hair meeting dark eyes, all round dark clothes that did nothing to hide the mouthwatering body that laid underneath it all. Lips, so full and ready. Breathless. Speechless as they whispered my name. My own name. I didn't know my own name was capable of making me shudder with intensity so much. I didn't even know what it was...but this man was driving insane. Completely and utterly insane. My entire body burned hot just staring at him! My boobs, nipples, throat, thighs, God my core. Everything trembled, literally coming alive inside of me with him in such close range. His damned manly scent finally surrounding me. The same scent I kept searching for in my pillows even if I didn't want to admit it. For a second everything paused as we stood there. Too close. Too aware. His dark eyes an
