Chapter 68

It was the night of the masquerade ball and Talia stood in front of the mirror, fumbling with her bow tie for the tenth time.

The fabric twisted wrong, again. The knot looked lumpy and uneven.

She growled in frustration and yanked it off. Why was this so hard?

‘Probably because you’re a girl?’ Titi snickered and she rolled her eyes.

She had managed to get the suit last minute from the school's formal wear closet. It was a simple black jacket, white shirt and black pants.

But the bow tie was defeating her and her mind wouldn't stop spinning.

She’d gone to meet the staff in charge like she told Lucien and they were as surprised as she was. Apparently, they had given the complete package, box and letter both, to a student who’d delivered it to her.

But that student was Marcus. Was he the one who tampered with the letter?

The thought made her stomach twist. She had no idea if he was the culprit or if someone put him up to it.
