CHAPTER SEVEN

RUDE AWAKENING

Selena had lain on the bed and had already begun to slowly drift off into sleep when she heard the door creak open. Slowly she opened her eyes, heart already pounding and inspite of herself nearly gave a cry of alarm when her father's image filled the doorway. He brought one finger to his lips in time and gently shut the door. Selena scrambled off the bed, her back against the wall as her father advanced on her. She knew what was coming. It had happened before. The first and last time a boy from school had walked her home. It was his own way of absolving her of her sins. She wondered how his flock could not see that their priest was evil. A religious monster was exactly what he was. He was one of the reasons she didn't believe in God.
