Ama valley was a valley planted between two hills, the warriors of
Odudu matched in from one hill, the valley was vast and wide, the
warriors of Odudu had arrived in time, waiting for their opponents toshow up, every one was ready for the long awaiting war, the newlyenrolled warriors were very eager, they weren't happy when the warriors of Agbadu had not come; they waited and moved their faces allaround the scene of war, every warrior waited with his hands glued totheir swords and shield, the bow men had taking a formation behind thesword men. There was a grave-yard silence, the unexpected could occurany moment, stiff with terror, Adesuna's heart pounded loudly, his teeth clattered. This was his first appearance in the battle field; the thought of where their opponents will bashed out from was his concern, he clinged tightly to his sword as he looks around again andagain, he watched to see other warriors mutter some unheard words to their colleagues; terror suffused his senses. "This is a real life night mare." He whispered insheer astonishment, he quickly took a Sharp glance at his sword as heawaits the aftermath. The grave-yard silence elongated. The sun wasshining in all its full strength, only a slight of shadows of vultures waiting to feast on the carcasses of men; they offered no relief from the arduous burning of the sun that stood directly above their heads. In the middle of the endless seeming stillness, the beating of drums blasted like a thunder-like sound from a
distance, a troupe was advancing them, the beating was the sound ofwar, hearing the beating, Adesuna's heart spit in twos; the soundgot louder- indicative of the fact that their opponents were very close; "they should be pushing their way up the hill by now," Adesuna reasoned, he had barely seen a single man yet, only the dreadful sound of the drum of war, the echoes of the drums exploded behind them like a thunder clap; now, the drum beating had become stronger accompanied with a strange chant, a chant that was unfamiliar toAdesuna, the sky thickened by the blackness of a cloud of vulturesflying three sixty in the empty sky, suddenly the warriors of Agbaduwere seen clopping down from the 'Everest' mountain that was mounted directly opposite them; the men floated toward them like an erosion, the sound of theirfeet were like that of a stallion of a thousand horses, the opposing warriors seemed to double them, like a herd of elephants, they advance. Adesuna was puzzled by the fearsome sight of the approaching men, when the men were a few miles closer to them, they stopped as two scary looking men separated out of the troupe, walked towards them, by this time, Adesuna's company had began to chant their own song, this was to keep the heart of every warrior warmed and fearless. Jeem! Jeem!...... Jeem...!,...Jeem! Jeem! Jeem...!Then, Ajaka and their king stepped out to meet with the oncoming
men, they were the King and chief warrior of Agbadu kingdom. When they had met, Oro the King of Agbadu laughed, and then spoke at
the top of his voice. "Today, your kingdom will become a heap ofrubble!" He threatened fire and brimstone. "I warned youbut you were too deaf to listen, it is only a stubborn fly that accompanies the diseased to the grave." The King of Odudu quickly replied. "Stop ranting like a child; the baby on his mother's back doesn't know how far the journey is!" A hard smile grimaced on the face of the King of Agbadu as he threatened that the battle should begin, "let the fight tell the rest of the story!" He said as he and his chief warrior walked backward... When Adesuna heard the words that had fallen from the lips of the King, a spark of fire lit up in his soul as if a camp fire has been litwithin him... The fire burns more within him as his troupe ran tocollide with the oncoming troupe; this time his feelings of nostalgia had died completely. The two kingdoms collided in a fearsome manner. The clattering sound of swords, spears and shield coupled with the yelling of the warriors took over the desert valley. As a young fighter, Adesuna was enclosed in between the wall of his battalion, he was trapped within the state of undulating, their opposition pressed hardly with a strong brutality, at this time, the blood of men had begun to taint the swords of Warriors, pangs ofwailing welled up from the lungs of injured warriors, Adesuna had hadno confrontations yet, he watched sternly as his head rotates ninetydegrees sideways, he was trapped in the web of his puzzled composition. "Adesuna" a voice called him in o low key; he quickly turned towards the direction where the voice had come from; but non seemed to had mentioned his name, "maybe it is my head that is calling me?" Hethought, while he was still wondering where the voice had come from, thevoice came again; although louder and stronger this time , "Adesuna! Adesuna!! fight andkill!" At this time Adesuna reasoned that the gods had spoken to him,he was left with no choice than to consider to disposition himself; heforced his way out of the middle of the crowded troupe where he waswedged between his troupe, breaking through the walls of the warriors, he meandered his way sideways towards the left, in a shortwhile, he was at the verge, he edged forward into the place where the battle was most intense, he moved towards an opponent, a middle age man, in an attacking motion, with his sword, he stroke him on his head with a razor Sharp jab, thereby knocking the man down, the man screamed as he helplessly crashed down beneathAdesuna's feet, before long he was soaked in the pool of his own blood; Adesuna, who had stricken him on the head, watch the man as he struggled for survival; he moved slowly on his hands and knees; he struggled totake hold of life in the misty dust, Adesuna, again struck the man'shead with his sword, blood splashed the more all over his body, theman's face masked with his blood, he could barely see a thing, thistime, he dragged his body which was already vibrating, he grasped for breath until he passedaway. Adesuna sighed, the shock of killing someone for the first time got him frozen in a spot; while entangled in the horror of the fear of killing someone for the first time, he watched as a warrior ran hissword through an opponent's stomach, the victim fell headlong anddied. "This would have saved a time in a stitch, if I had done same tothe man i just killed." He thought, with a blank concern toknow whether the person that was pierced through was a foe or afriend; he had learnt a real life lesson. He approached another fellowwith the attempt to thrust his sword through him, the man defendedquickly with his shield, with a cruel resentment, the man quickly retaliated with a vengeful force, he countered attack with a huge strike, Adesuna defended helplessly as he moved backward and sideways in an uncontrollable manner. Adesuna was yet to lay hold of the full spirit of the battle field. The man smiled seeing the amateurishness displayed by him, the man's manner revealed that Adesuna was a walkover. "This man must be more skilled than the first man." Adesuna thought within himself, being fascinated by the skill displayed by the supposed experienced antagonist. The tall giant man again swung his sword and jabbed him furiously as hard as he could, Adesuna tumbled as he rolled over and over in slight slope, he was ashort distance away from the man, Adesuna quickly leaped up from the sun scorching desert, the fearsome looking man was unwilling to relent, he swung his sword thethird time, at this time, their both swords clashed, Adesuna againalmost fell, the man pushed forward, pressing very hard, but Adesuna stood firm with his feet planted into the burning soil, in a brutal repression, he groaned to release more energy in order to stand the horrible looking man, the struggle persisted, at this time Adesuna moved backward as hecouldn't withstand his masculinity, the man again tried to jab him with another brutal strike, Adesuna dodged, the man crashed terribly into the hot desert soil, he quickly advanced him, he ran his sword into the man's side, the man's face wore a look ofdisbelief with his eyes staring in a bleak astonishment, his eyes almost coming out of the sockets, he tried tostand up but, Adesuna pierced him again and again, the man grope hauntingly, as darkness seemed to had covered his eyes, he moaned, trying to force his way out of the claws of death, he died.Adesuna is now learning by a real life experience; the bodies of deadmen were littered everywhere, tension and anxiety had vanished completely from him, this time the whole desert was densed with a cloud of powdered dust, Adesuna in a more violent move, he butchered more opponents, the warriors of Odudu now seemed to be having an upper hand, the double troupe of Agbadu warriors had reduced drastically. "War is not won by number, but by strength, powerand fortitude!" the king's words echoed in Adesuna's head. When theKing of Agbadu kingdom realised that he was losing more men, heinstructed his drummer to strike the drum for a retreat, they retreated and fled into the forest, although the warriors of Odudu chased after them inflicting more damages on them, most of the their warriorsfell down along the bush paths, some of the men who were injured asthe ran, were pierced to death, after a long chase, they were luredinto another valley where the people of Agbadu kingdom had dug someholes covered with leaves and grasses, some of the Warriors of Odudu fell into the holes, and were brutally injured, when they realised thedeception, they followed through another path to keep the hot pursuit, they chased them into their very kingdom, for three days they inflictedmore injuries on the people of Agbadu, the battle was so severe thatthe warriors of Abgadu ran out of their fortress, Agbadu kingdom was setablaze, the warriors of Odudu returned with so much spoils, it tookthem three days to convey the spoils, they returned the third day atsun set, the people of Odudu also lost some of their warriors, whyamongst the surviving ones, were mixture of those that sustained bothfatal and minor injuries. Adesuna's father enlisted among the injuredwarriors. That day they returned home in silence. On their returning, the women that have lost their husbands weptprofusely, the children also were crying, the sound of wailing filledthe whole village, that day the dispirited King of Odudu didn't say anything, the men and women who had gone to war were calm has they counted their lost. The second day, the King came out of his room to console the bereaved families, but they refused to be comforted, they wept sore and sprinkled ashes and dust on themselves as they call on the horrible sting of death to come and take them away; the King's palace was crowded with the numerous villagers who hadlost a relative: brothers, fathers, sister..., for three days, theywept until they had no strength to weep any longer. The King was greatly distressed as all his efforts to console them seemed to be failing. After a while, he opened his mouth and spoke words of comfort to them "Women, mother and wives, men, youths and children of

At another time, Shamugar, the King of Archer of the southern kingdom became resentful andjealous of the kingdom of Odudu, he became envious because of thegreat achievements of Odudu Kingdom; their victories, their fame and the respect they had gained, the southern KIng was a powerful sorcererwho had conquered almost all the kingdoms of the southern region, infact all the kingdoms of the south were answerable to him, he boasteddaily of his power, his kingdom epitomised raw power. One evening, as he paced around in his palace and thought listlessly, he called his aid, "what is this that I hear by the hearing of my earsfrom the people of my kingdom concerning one kingdom of Odudu?" the King questioned, "My great king may you 'live forever' it is true ofwhat you have heard, it was said of that kingdom that they haven'tlost a battle for the past one decade, I also learned that they haveconquered almost all the kingdoms of the western regi
The next day, king Ogedengbe summoned his elders and warriors. "A war has come knocking at the gates of our land, Shamugar- the King of thesouthern kingdom has threatened us with a war.? "you mean, "Shumuga!"that cruel king?" an elder questioned in fretfulness. "Yes!" said theKing "that is why I have called this meeting. let someone saysomething, I await your suggestions. say something... saysomething..." The King looks at their faces expecting to hearsomething from them. Ajaka the chief warrior cleared his throat. "Yourmajesty," he began, "I have heard about the cruelty of that beast of aking, how he had made many women widows and many children orphans, Ilearned that he murdered his father in a cold blood to assume thethrone, my King, if it is war that he wants then what should stop usfrom given it to him? true warriors are not scared of war." AfterAjaka had finished voicing his opinion, an elder stood up and inquiredwhethe
The next day while it was almost evening, as Adesuna was having somequiet time alone under the leafy cashew tree in his compound, his father Adeshina paid him a visit. After exchanging pleasantries, his father turned towards him; "Adesunamy son, do not be surprised by the sudden visit, there is a saying thatsays, rabbit does not run in the day for nothing' indeed I havecome to tell you destiny matters, his father when he learned that hisdaughter in law might hear their discussion quickly walked his son outof the premise of the house, as the walk through a lonely path, hecleared his throat... "how is your farm, I hope the crops areblossoming, "yes father! the crops are growing well, I even wentyesterday to weed the grasses" Adesuna responded has he put his ears to hear what his father really intended telling him. "that's good myson, you are indeed a very brave man, you have really made our kingdomproud in recent times, you have al
Very early, they set out, before long, they were in the Kingdom of Igado, and were led by some men into the shrine to see the great sorceress Omaye, When, she saw them, she laughed and sat down on a bunch of a full broom facing downward, that couldn't had been ableto handle the weight of a child, when she looked at Adesuna, shesmiled and fetched a bowl of water from a basket full of water, hesprinkled the water on Adesuna, and chanted some strange enigmaticwords, she looked again at Adesuna and said: " You have come for onething; but you will be leaving here with two, you are the next king ofOdudu, you have been chosen to lead your people. As for thefortifications you have come for, it will be done; although the nextking will definitely be you. He led Adesuna to a horrible dark room, "sit here till the next day, if you can bear the things that your eyes shall behold, then no mortal or spirit will be able to withstand you all thedays of your
By the next day at about noon, the warriors trouped again anddescended into the the valley chanting, "jeem, jeem, jeem..., jeem, jeem, jeem..., Adesuna seemed to be invisible, he felt that a strangeforce had taking over his being, his heart thickened like the elephant's skin, fear was nowhere close to him, his hands appeared to be firmly gluedto his sword and shield, "what is happening to me? I feel like animmortal, I feel like I can't be killed." A stampede of unknown creatures seemed to surge within him. A river of fire had began towell up on his inside, he turned to look at his father, his father whoknew what had happened: the fortifications he had gone through already has his weak eyes fixed on him, by the time Adesuna turned to look at his father, his father smiled faintly and nodded his head, Adesunastill perceiving that something was not right with his father; but couldn't discern what had actually gone wrong, the counsel of lastnight
When the warriors of Odudu returned, they conducted the burialceremonies of the lost armies, Adesuna buried his father in a veryheroic way as other mighty warriors like Akaja, Agbana and the others. For three months the kingdom of Odudu mourned for her lost, theprisoners that were rescued from the south under the cruelty ofShamugar were enrolled into the armies, Adesuna was made the chiefwarrior and was held in great esteem. he was believed to Pioneer thetheir victory over the southern kingdom. As time went on, the King of Odudu died and because he had noson, Adesuna was chosen in his stead; the kingdom of Odudu also had become very powerful. After several victories, King Adesuna became widely known as a personality to behold, his charisma and character were astonishing, he had made history and has reshaped the perception of Odudu kingdom; during this time, the dignity and the integrity that the kingdom of Odudu secured was never seen if compared
