KAIA'S POV:

The silence in the infirmary is worse than the screams on the battlefield.

Outside, the pack is still rumbling like a storm refusing to die. But in here, it's just Lucien. Still, pale and barely breathing.

His chest rises and falls, but only just. Each breath seems like a struggle, like his body has to remember how to stay alive. The bandages across his abdomen are soaked red, and no matter how many times Rhea and I change them, the blood keeps coming.

It's scaring me so much right now. The entire floor is soaked with so much blood that I'm wondering how more keeps coming out.

I sit beside him, my hands trembling in my lap, coated in dried blood.... his blood. My knees are drawn to my chest.

My face feels hollow. I haven’t cried since I screamed his name on the battlefield. I haven’t spoken since they carried him in. There are no tears left, just this endless, hollow ache in my chest.

"We need more wolfsbane to keep the infection down," Rhea says softly

Axel’s POV: The woods are quiet when I return... too quiet. As if they are mourning my loss. The guards at the gate don’t stop me. One of them looks away, and the other just gives a tight nod. I nod back, wordless. What do you say when you feel betrayed your family, your pack, your mate?Mate. The word feels hollow now. Kaia isn’t mine. Not anymore. Maybe she never was. I walk the worn path toward the main house, every step heavy with memories. Then I met Kaia. Then the moon goddess chose wrong. Lucien lies in the infirmary now, still and silent like death is waiting just behind the veil. I am actually scared for him. Kaia… she hasn't even looked at me once since they came back. I step inside the building. It smells like antiseptic and sorrow. I pause outside Lucien’s room, hand on the doorframe. My heart is thudding so loudly it’s a wonder no one hears it. I’m not ready to see her but I have to. It’s the only thing I can do that still feels right. Kaia’s in

AUTHOR'S NOTE: THANKS FOR COMING THIS FAR. I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR AXEL. ENJOY!KAIA’S POV: The full moon hangs like a silver wound in the sky, bleeding light down onto the clearing behind the Guen Pack house. But seriously, it looks red as fuck. Everything feels quieter tonight, like the world is holding its breath, waiting. So am I. I stand barefoot in a white slip dress that clings to my skin, the grass cool and damp beneath my toes. My fingers tremble where they rest at my sides. Around me, a ring of lit torches throws flickering shadows across the trees. The pack forms a wide circle, silent witnesses to what’s about to happen. To my right, Kai stands shirtless, bare-chested beneath the moon, his eyes locked on mine. There's a quiet storm in them; raw, controlled, but burning. I feel it like a magnet tugging at my soul. And to my left, Axel watches. Oh, Axel... He stands just outside the torchlight, hidden in half-shadow. His face gives nothing away, but I k

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 77

Kaia's POV: I stare at the candle on my nightstand, watching the flame dance and twist like it is about to snuff out. It flickers every time I exhale, as if it, too, is unsure of how long it can hold on. The room feels too still and too quiet. Like the moment before a storm breaks because something is about to break. Me. I thought I had time. Time to breathe, to hope, to somehow find a way to save all of us from this impossible choice. But time ran out the moment I heard the truth... Apparently, once I’m marked by one mate, the bond with the other will be spiritually dulled. Not severed but no longer the same. The idea of losing even a sliver of that connection with either Axel or Kai feels like ripping my soul in half. Lucien is still laying unconscious in the infirmary. Every time I visit him, I pray he’ll open his eyes and save me from this. From having to choose and maybe give me a solution instead. But he doesn’t. And the pack needs peace. The alliance between Moonw

KAI’S POV: We don’t say anything to each other on the ride back. The sound of tires rolling over gravel is the only thing keeping me tethered to the present. Axel is tense beside me, his leg bouncing with the kind of nervous energy that means he’s seconds from losing it. I wish I could explode, too. But I’m holding it together by a thread, because if I fall apart, what good am I to her? To this whole situation even? As soon as we pull up to the Guen Pack house, I’m out of the car. My fists clench and unclench at my sides as I take the porch steps two at a time. I barely knock before the door swings open. Rowan stands in the doorway, arms folded. He takes one look at us and steps aside without a word.“She’s in the sunroom,” he says simply. I head there with Axel close behind. The moment I see her, something in me aches. Kaia is sitting on the floor beside Lucien’s unmoving form, her hand wrapped around his. Her head is bowed slightly, auburn hair falling in soft waves a

Kaia's POV: The fire crackles low in the living room hearth, painting golden ribbons on the walls of the Guen Pack house. I’m curled up on the rug, my back against the couch, legs pulled to my chest, while Axel sprawls beside me, his long legs thrown carelessly across a cushion. Kai leans silently against the far wall, arms crossed over his chest, a pensive line etched between his brows. None of us say much. Since Lucien’s... state, the air has grown thick with tension, with silence that feels more like a scream. And then we hear it. The scratch of talons against the windowpane.Axel is the first to move, pushing to his feet. “What the hell?” We all turn. A raven perches on the windowsill, its black eyes sharp, calculating. There’s something clutched in its beak - a rolled-up parchment sealed with deep red wax. My chest tightens.“A message?” I whisper. Kai strides over and opens the window. The raven hops in without fear, drops the letter at Kai’s feet, then takes

AUTHOR'S NOTE:THIS CHAPTER MADE ME EMOTIONAL. THIS IS A KINDA SNEAK PEEK INTO BOOK TWO. ENJOY!RHEA’S POV: The lanterns flicker low, casting warm golden shadows across the infirmary walls, but the warmth doesn’t reach me. It doesn’t reach him. Lucien lies still beneath pale sheets that do nothing to hide the shallowness of his breathing. His face is so calm, too calm for someone who used to argue over training schedules and complain about soup being too bland. His chest rises, then falls. But it's too slow, too light, like he’s not really here, like he is slipping away... from me. I sit on the chair beside his bed, the same way I’ve been doing for three nights now. I don’t even remember how I started doing this. I just know I’m drawn here, like the moon tugs at the tides. “I swear,” I say softly, brushing a stray lock of black hair off his forehead, “if you don’t wake up soon, I’m going to enchant your boots so they fill with mud every time you walk. And not just ordinary
