CHAPTER 35: UNITED FRONT

MIRA'S POV

I stood in front of the entire Shadowfang Pack with Dante beside me and made the announcement that was either going to save us or get us both killed.

"Dante and I will face the Council together." My voice carried across the gathered wolves, steady despite the fear clawing at my insides. "They want to see if Moonborn are dangerous? We'll show them what we really are. Siblings who protect each other."

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   JUDGMENT DAY ARRIVES

CHAPTER 64: JUDGMENT DAY ARRIVESMIRAWe've been at this for six hours straight, and my hands won't stop shaking even though the silver fire has long since burned itself out of me. Matthias sits chained to a chair in the center of the judgment hall's lowest chamber, forced to walk us through each bomb one at a time, and every single one takes longer than the last because he keeps stalling, keeps second-guessing sequences he clearly memorized decades ago."You're doing this on purpose," Dante says, his voice raw with exhaustion and barely contained fury."I'm doing this because one wrong move kills everyone in this building." Matthias doesn't look up from the wiring in front of him. "Including me. I'd prefer to survive the day, even in chains."I check the time again and feel my stomach drop. Sunset is less than two hours away, and we still have three bombs left according to the map Sera risked her life to steal from Corvinus records."Faster," I say, and I hear how thin my own voice s

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   MATTHIAS EXPOSED

CHAPTER 63: MATTHIAS EXPOSED MIRA We find him in a private chamber beneath the judgment hall itself, tucked behind a door that isn't supposed to exist on any map we were given, and the moment we breach it I understand why Sera looked so afraid when she gave us this location. Matthias sits at a desk like he's been expecting company for hours, hands folded, completely calm, while a dozen Corvinus hunters step out of the shadows around him without a single sound. "I wondered how long it would take you to figure it out," he says, and his voice carries none of the panic I expected from someone we'd just cornered. "It's over," I say, silver already building in my palms. "Give us the detonator and this doesn't have to end badly for you." He laughs, and the sound scrapes against something in my chest because it's so completely unbothered by the threat standing right in front of him. "You misunderstand the situation." He lifts his hand and I see it then, strapped to his wrist, a small d

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   RACE TO PREVENT CATASTROPHE

CHAPTER 62: RACE TO PREVENT CATASTROPHESera returned just before midnight, her expression carrying the kind of exhaustion that comes from operating under impossible pressure, and I felt my stomach tighten the moment I saw her because whatever she'd discovered clearly wasn't good news."The bombs are already planted." She said it without preamble, moving quickly into our makeshift command center where Elric, Dante, and Theron were already gathered. "I confirmed it myself, risked getting caught to actually see them with my own eyes.""Where?" I asked, feeling dread pooling in my stomach despite already suspecting the answer."Throughout the judgment hall itself." Sera's voice carried grim certainty. "Hidden within structural supports, disguised as decorative elements, positioned to maximize casualties when detonated.""Can we remove them?" Dante asked, already thinking through tactical solutions despite the overwhelming scope of what we were facing."That's the problem." Sera shook her

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   THE ASHENHEART SCHISM

CHAPTER 61: THE ASHENHEART SCHISMThe messenger arrived just before dawn, breathless and clearly having run a significant distance, and something about her urgent expression made my stomach tighten before she even spoke a single word."The Ashenheart family has split." She said it quickly, still catching her breath. "Half joined Corvinus in declaring total war. The other half wants to meet with you immediately."I felt exhaustion pulling at me despite barely having slept, but I forced myself into motion anyway because with judgment day now less than twenty-four hours away, we couldn't afford to ignore any potential development that might shift the balance of power one final time."How many are we talking about?" Elric asked, already moving toward where we kept our strategic maps, already thinking through implications despite the early hour."Roughly half the family in each direction." The messenger explained. "The progressive faction is led by someone named Ember. She's requesting a p

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   RECRUITMENT DRIVE

CHAPTER 60: RECRUITMENT DRIVEWe made it through the ambush. Just barely. I spent the drive back to Shadowfang trying to make sense of everything that had happened. I was also keeping pressure on Elric's wound. He got hurt protecting Adrian from a hunter's blade.Adrian was quiet for most of the trip. He just stared at his hands like they might suddenly catch fire again. I knew how overwhelming this must feel for him. He went from a normal life to supernatural combat in just a few hours."They've been watching him," I said again. I was still trying to understand what it meant. "That means they've probably been watching every hidden Moonborn we don't even know about.""Which means we need to find them," Dante said grimly. He was tired. Adrenaline was still pumping through him. "Before Corvinus can hurt them. Use them against us."That night I looked at Nelly's journal. I studied the locations she had written down. We had less than two days before Judgment Day. We couldn't ignore the ne

  • THE LUNA'S RETURN FROM EXILE   THE BROTHER

CHAPTER 59: THE BROTHERI looked at the address on the paper Kira had given me a while back. It was where she said my half-brother was sent when he was a baby. I kept wondering if I was really ready for this. Could I handle finding out about another family member I never knew existed?Elric told me I did not have to do this."You have a lot going on," he said gently. "You can do this later."He was watching me pace near the car we were going to take to the city.I knew I had to do this."If Kira is right, if he is there living a normal life and does not know what he really is, then every day we wait is another day he is in danger."I stopped pacing. Looked at Elric."We have to tell him."Dante joined us. He looked excited and nervous at the same time."Another brother," he said slowly. "I am still getting used to having a sister. Now I have another sibling.""Half-brother," I corrected him.It did not feel like it mattered that much, though. Not after everything we had been through a

CHAPTER 6: ASHES AND SECRETS We had to keep moving because this place we're staying isn't safe anymore. I pressed harder against Elric's side, trying to ignore how much of his weight I was carrying. Blood soaked through his shirt where that packleader had torn his fang into him. The wound looked

CHAPTER 5 – BLOOD IN THE MOONLIGHT The Bloodfang charged in full motion against the trio. The forest erupted in chaos. Elric unsheathed his sword. Snarls broke through the air. The Bloodfang warriors charged like shadows unleashed. Elara threw her cloak aside, her hands glowing with wind magi

CHAPTER 4 – “WE WERE HOPING YOU'D SAY THAT.” They led me through the woods at dawn. I walked between Elric and Elara, silent, my pulse beating like a drum. My thoughts were heavy with what I’d read in that hidden book: Mira of the Lost Line. The girl who could either save or destroy. Was that

CHAPTER 3 – “WE NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT A DESTROYER.” The Wasted Vale stretched for miles—silent, decaying, endless. I walked for two days without food, my body trembling, my thoughts looping the betrayal like a curse. I was Framed, Casted out and Forgotten. Only Nelly’s words kept me goi
