Chapter XXX
Alec pushed Kenneth slightly into the small kitchen to hide him while he stood by the door and listened to the palace guards' heavy footsteps. They were looking for the king everywhere in the village and he knew it was all Gwendolyn's doing. Now that she was pregnant, she was finally sure that her child would be the heir or heiress to the throne and she would be the Queen Mother.
Gwendolyn and the prime minister must have been planning for that for many years judging by the way they poisoned the king since the wedding to drive him mad and make his people despise and fear him."Why am I hiding?" Kenneth raised an eyebrow, "They are my guards, then why should I fear them?"

One hour earlierAfter he made sure the gossip spread around all the servants in the palace, Alec decided to take a small break in the garden as he had been busy for the last few days. He took off his heavy jacket and placed it around his arm as he walked between the trees and the flower bushes. The weather was nice that morning. The scorching sun rays kissed his forehead and cheeks, and the gentle wind embraced him and accompanied him during his walk.Alec was humming a song he heard the maids sing in the servants' quarters when he heard voices.
