Chapter 10

Vera's POV

I hadn't heard from my parents nor Lexi for the past three weeks and I was already getting home sick.

I have been seeing a little too much of Cyrus, more than I was comfortable with and oddly enough Aldonis has been really busy lately. Honestly I believed he was intentionally ignoring me.

I was grateful to have gotten to know the head chef and my personal maid Selina

She was just the cutest and had the most mesmerising blue eyes you would ever see and I didn't fail to compliment her on it as much as I could but as usual she blushed it off.

Over the past weeks we have eaten together and she has basically given me as much history on the Chrysantos she knew.

I had asked why Mrs Chrysantos wasn't at my engagement and she explained that she had her personal business she was running which kept her away from the city very often.

Hearing that Mr Chrysantos supported his wife so much as to let her be away for so long melted my heart.

Their great love story and the amount of love the shared was a normal thing for Selina to tell me about and I so wished I could witness it or at least live such a love story but as things were going I don't think I would even find love

Especially not with Julius.

Mrs Juliette was a sweet loving grandma.

She was Selina's only family

She baked the best chocolate chip cookies you'd ever taste

I always snuck back in to the kitchen for second rounds.

I had confided in her about everything.

I trusted her wisdom enough to seek advise from her.

"Madam

I have some news I know you would love to hear "

Selina came rushing into the library that I found and fell in love with three days ago.

It was absolutely breath taking and had my favourite genres of books

Romance.

It looked like it was straight out of a Disney movie and I found myself spending mornings to nights in that library buried in my own world. I was happy to have found a hobby that let me escape from the life and situation I found myself in.

"Speak Selina

And calm down" I closed my book to give her my full attention

"I heard Sir and Madame and coming tomorrow"

I was almost squealing at the news

"Really"

I wanted to make sure I wasn't hearing things

"Of course madam.

I won't lie to you.

I heard they are coming for something important"

I was so excited to meet Mrs Chrysantos.

From what Selina had told me

She was a nice lady that didn't fail to show the people around her alot of love and currently speaking I needed a mother figure so badly.

I wondered what would be so important that the would come here for but my thoughts were soon over taken by pure excitement.

"What are you making Mrs Juli?"

I tried peaking severally into what she was doing but I was still clueless.

I was snacking on her famous chocolate chip cookies while she made dinner.

If not for Mrs Juli and Selina I would be eating alone in the huge dining hall because I learned Julius didn't come down to join everyone else to eat.

He always ate in his room or not at all.

I was seated on one of the bar stools as I watched Mrs Juli move so freely around the kitchen without stopping to check where anything was.

It was quite a shock considering the numerous number of cabinets.

She finally came to a halt handing me a plate with Tater Tot casserole in it .

I looked from her to the plate in confusion .

"Go give this to Julius dear.

He hasn't eaten today"

I blinked at her

"Why me?....

Can't one of he maid give it to him?"

"No Vera.

He doesn't like the maids coming into his personal areas like his room and study"

I sighed and picked up the plate pushing myself off the stool.

"Julius isn't as bad as you think Vera"

This was the hundredth time she advised me too look beyond his rude and arrogant façade and see who he could be but that was really hard to do considering all that had happened between us

I sighed reaching the two big wooden doors of his study as memories of what happened the last time I was here played in my head and everything I knew told me to walk away but I didn't want to disappoint Mrs Juli so without much more thought I knocked three times at a go and waited but no response came.

I knocked again but still no response.

I pushed the door and walked in to see the study was completely dark.

I couldn't see anything as I tried to find the light switch.

I didn't remember seeing one the last time I was here so I was on my own trailing my fingers on the walls looking for the switch.

I could see a dark figure rise from the far end of the library and begin approaching me .

My heart beat quickened and my breathing became heavy .

It was at that moment that all the scenes from every horror movie came into play as the figure became taller the closer it became.

I didn't know what to do so I did what anyone would have done in my situation.

I dropped the plate on the floor and jumped on the ghost and it fell to the ground with a loud thud.

The ghost suprisenly had huge chests as I could feel where my hand landed.

Suddenly the whole room lit up and I could see again.

I looked down and was taken aback when I saw Julius underneath me.

I stared at him as he glared back at me.

Before I could push myself up he held me and turned us around so I was now beneath him as he hovered above me.

My cheeks turned crimson when I noticed our sudden closeness as his intoxicating scent invaded my nostrils

" What the fuck it wrong with you woman!?"

He cursed and it brought me back to reality

"Your the one untop of me!"

I fired back and tried sitting up to push him but he was too strong and I ended up falling back

He just watched me with a straight face and I blushed harder.

Then, I heard the door being pushed open

"Oh my gosh .

Am sorry

I didn't see anything I swear."

Julius turned his head to see Aldonis's back facing us as he kept ranting apologies.

"You know

There is always a better place to do this " Cyrus joined the scene and my blush only increased and I was certain any more of this and my face would fall off.

Julius pushed himself off me and immediately I got the chance I sprung up scurrying out of his office with my face as red as a tomato
