Chapter 8

Vera's POV

I got the feeling this man was either an enemy or a threat to the Chrysantos seeing the reaction on both Julius and Zeus's faces.

The men that surrounded me were quietly leading me to the back door where every other woman had been taken as I searched relentlessly for Lexi ,mum and Nina with my eyes.

All of a sudden we came to a halt as a man yielding a gun grabbed me by my arm .Pointing the gun at my head I froze.

My heart was racing like it was going to beat out of my chest

He hurled me to himself as he walked me to the centre where the Scarry man was.

"You didn't invite me for you engagement Julius.

I am so offended"

He used his finger to tip my jaw so I could look straight into his eyes. My stomach churned at the thought of what he was going to do to me.

"And you are getting married to such a beauty .

Hmmm" he smirked as he looked back at them.

"It'll be such a shame if something unforseen was to happen"

"Don't do this Ludwick.

She has nothing to do with this"

Mr Chrysantos said with a straight face that could even scare me but Ludwick didn't seem fazed by it.

I was being pushed and I fell to the ground

"Vera!"

I heard dad's voice as he tried to run to me but stopped. I looked up to see the gun pointed at my head and I stopped moving in fear of being shot.

I started shaking.

W-what if he pulled the trigger and I would die.

Why was he doing this and who was he and most importantly why did dad have a gun with him.

Tears stung at my eyes as they threatened to fall.

"One more step and I blast her brains out.

Won't want to see inside this little beauty now would you?"

His threat made my stomach churn and I felt like throwing up.

"Your problem is with us Ludwick,don't make an innocent person suffer for no reason" I finally hear Julius speak and I looked up at him to see his eyes looking behind as they moved like he was directing someone, then they fell on me and we locked eyes.

He blinked at me and strained his eyes to Ludwick's knee and it clicked .

He wanted me to hit him so he would fall but I doubt my small blow could knock down such a hefty man.

My heart was racing and i didn't know whether to take the plunge or just stay where I was.

I heard a gun being fired and I jumped out of my skin as everyone turned their attention to the back of he hall where a man laid in a pool of blood

"Now!" I heard Julius's husky voice yell and I knew it was my que

   My adrenaline was pumping and without delay I used his distraction to my advantage and I raised my leg and kicked Ludwick's knee and he fell clutching it and groaning .

"You bitch!" He yelled and I tried moving away but my legs wouldn't work. Good timing!

He reached and grabbed my hair pulling me towards him as many gunshots were fired front and back.

My scalp was in immense pain as he grabbed my neck strangling me .

Black dots clouded my vision as I struggled to breath.

I tried in vain to pry his hands of my neck before my vision was completely blurred and I heard a thud before darkness over came me.
