**Chapter 15**

The safehouse was an old warehouse on the edge of the industrial district. No windows. One exit. Three cots and a folding table. It smelled like rust and old oil.

They had been there less than twenty minutes when Elena finally spoke.

“You’re looking at me like you want to shoot me,” she said, leaning against the table.

Leo didn’t deny it. “I’m still deciding.”

Kai stood beside Leo, arms crossed, saying nothing. Luca sat on one of the cots cleaning his gun like this was just

Chapter 34 “Leo!” Luca’s voice cracked over the comms, urgent and raw. “I need the call. Now!” Leo stood on the windswept rooftop, helicopter rotors thundering behind him, Kai laying down suppressive fire at the advancing Council troops. Below, Valeria’s armored convoy prepared to slip away into the night. He made the choice. “Take the shot, Luca. Drop her.” The rifle cracked in the distance. A split second later, the lead SUV exploded in a fireball as Luca’s shot found its mark—likely the fuel tank or a planted charge. Chaos erupted on the street. “Go!” Leo roared, grabbing Kai. They sprinted for the helicopter. Bullets chewed the concrete at their heels. Kai took a round to the leg but didn’t slow, dragging Leo aboard. The pilot— one of their last loyal men—lifted off as Council reinforcements swarmed the roof. Leo leaned out the door and unloaded his magazine into the pursuers before the bird banked hard and raced toward the final battlefield. The war converged on the old R

  • THE MAFIA PRINCE AND HIS BODYGUARD   chapter 33

Chapter 33 The motel room felt like a tomb. Dim lighting, stale air, and the distant wail of sirens outside. Leo sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the black laptop screen long after Valeria’s face had disappeared. The ultimatum echoed in his skull like a gunshot that wouldn’t stop ringing. Surrender yourself… or we burn everything. He could end it. Walk in alone, hand over the files, and maybe — just maybe — buy freedom for Kai, Luca, Marco, Elena, and the few others still breathing. No more bodies. No more blood on his hands. He could be the sacrifice the families always wanted him to be. Kai watched him from across the room like he could read every dark thought scrolling through Leo’s head. The bodyguard’s jaw was locked tight, fresh bandages peeking from under his shirt. “You’re actually considering it,” Kai said. It wasn’t a question. Leo didn’t look up. “If it stops the bleeding… if it keeps you alive…” Kai crossed the room in three strides and grabbed Leo by the fron

  • THE MAFIA PRINCE AND HIS BODYGUARD   chapter 32

Chapter 32 The veterinary clinic safehouse smelled of antiseptic, gun oil, and desperation. Dawn light filtered weakly through boarded windows as the remaining group gathered around a battered metal table. Marco lay in the next room, stable but still weak. Luca’s wounds were freshly stitched. Leo stood at the head of the table, maps and tablet screens glowing under harsh LED lights, his face carved from stone. “We’re not leaving Elena,” Leo said flatly. “She fucked up. She betrayed us in pieces. But she fought with us. She’s one of ours.” Luca crossed his arms, jaw tight. “It’s obviously a trap. They want you, Leo. Walking in there is suicide.” Kai leaned against the wall, arms folded, eyes never leaving Leo. “Then we don’t all walk in. We split. Luca, you stay here with Marco and the rest. Coordinate support, prepare fallback positions, and watch our backs remotely. Leo and I go in alone. Smaller team, less noise, faster movement.” Leo met Kai’s gaze. The unspoken understanding

  • THE MAFIA PRINCE AND HIS BODYGUARD   chapter 31

Chapter 31 The explosion lit up the night sky in a roaring orange inferno. Debris rained down around them as Leo pushed himself off the gravel, ears ringing, lungs burning from smoke. Kai was already on his feet, dragging Marco away from the collapsing structure. Luca staggered behind them, rifle still raised, scanning for any surviving threats. “Keep moving!” Kai barked. They piled into the waiting SUVs half a mile down the access road. Leo climbed into the back with Marco while Kai took the wheel. The convoy tore out of there, tires screaming on asphalt as secondary explosions continued to light up the rearview mirror. Marco was fading fast. The graze on his temple had bled heavily, and the years of captivity had left him gaunt and weak. Leo pressed a fresh bandage against the wound, hands slick with his father’s blood. “Stay with me,” Leo growled. “You don’t get to die after I just blew up half the fucking city to get you out.” Marco’s eyes fluttered open. For the first time,

Chapter 30 The red timer glowed like a demon’s eye on the monitor: 00:47… 00:46… Leo’s pistol stayed locked on the uncle’s forehead. His arm didn’t waver, but his mind screamed. Marco stared back through the camera, calm and resigned, the gun barrel pressed against his skull. “Choose, nephew,” the uncle said, voice dripping satisfaction. “Your fake father… or everything you’ve bled for.” Kai’s shoulder brushed Leo’s. Luca stood on his other side, breathing hard, blood dripping from a cut above his eye. The three of them against the uncle and the armed man on the screen. Leo’s voice came out low and lethal. “I’m done choosing between poisoned options.” He pulled the trigger. The gunshot cracked through the command room. The uncle’s head jerked back as the bullet punched through his skull. He crumpled behind the desk like a discarded puppet. At the same moment, the man on screen executed his order — the gunshot flashed, Marco’s body slumped forward. “No!” Leo roared. But the f

  • THE MAFIA PRINCE AND HIS BODYGUARD   chapter 29

Chapter 29 The assault began at 3:17 a.m. Three teams hit the uncle’s remaining strongholds simultaneously. Explosions lit up the night sky over the docks as Leo’s main force breached the primary compound — a fortified warehouse complex that served as the uncle’s last major command center. Gunfire cracked through the air like thunder. The smell of cordite and burning fuel choked the wind. Leo moved at the front, rifle tight to his shoulder, clearing rooms with cold efficiency. Kai stayed glued to his left flank, Luca on his right. Elena led the secondary team hitting the armory two blocks away. Every man and woman in their battered alliance knew this was the decisive blow. They carved through the outer defenses like a blade. Leo dropped two guards with precise headshots, then kicked in a reinforced door. Inside, a dozen of the uncle’s loyalists opened fire. Bullets chewed concrete inches from Leo’s head. He returned fire without hesitation, watching bodies jerk and fall. “Push fo
