**Chapter 10** Leo’s head throbbed like someone had split it open with an axe. He woke up on cold concrete, hands zip-tied behind his back, blood crusting on the side of his face from the sniper round that had grazed his skull. The warehouse smelled of rust, gunpowder, and fear. Kai was tied to a metal chair a few feet away. His chest wound from the knife had bled through his shirt and was still dripping slowly onto the floor. His eyes were open, alert, and locked on Leo the moment Leo stirred. “You are alive,” Kai said, voice low and rough. Leo tested the zip ties. Tight. Pain flared in his side and leg where the earlier bullets had grazed him. “Barely. What the hell happened?” “Moretti reinforcements. They took us both. Your sister got out with the team. That is the only good news.” A heavy metal door creaked open. Two armed men walked in, followed by a tall figure in a tailored black coat. Leo recognized him immediately.
