He had an answer ready immediately and I noticed that, not clearly at the time, but somewhere underneath the conversation.

He had not said let me think about how this could work. He had known exactly what he needed before I had finished asking the question.

I told myself it was because he had thought it through already. That was what a person did when they cared about helping someone.
