WRITER'S POV
"I know, mama. I pray everyday that our little girl gets better. She doesn't call me mommy again. I know that even if she's here physically, and tries hard to fit in, she still hasn't accepted us. She does not know us. The real us. I always wonder what is going through her mind. Is she hurt? Does she feel unloved? I love my daughter, mama, I really do." Grace cried out through the phone. Of course, she had a phone. She just never used it in the presence of anyone, and she used it only when she was behind closed doors.
Her 62 years old mother whom she always spoke to felt so bad. "I'm sorry, Gracey, this is hard for me too. Kim is my grandchild and this is very disturbing news. What if she never remembers me? Or all the good times we shared? My oh my, I may have a heart attack."
"Please don't say that mom. As it is, I'm already having a hard time with my daughter. I don
WRITER'S POVAll heads turned towards Avatia, with either wide eyes or opened mouths."Why is no one talking? Who is the man?" Avatia inquired again. But was greeted with silence again. "And why is he coming to take me?"Grace sobbed quietly. "Its no one honey."Hearing that answer, Draya's head snapped towards Grace. Why was the elderly woman hell bent on keeping the truth from her own daughter?Wouldn't it be better if Avatia just knew the truth?Well, Avatia could tell it was a lie. "It can't be no one. I need to know who this man is." She turned to Draya. "You said you're my best friend and would always tell me the truth, right?"Draya looked away in guilt, her eyes tearing up. She nodded."Go on, tell me. Who is Dreidan whatsoever and why does he wa
DREIDAN'S POVThe joy I felt! I could not stop reading the message. No need to come over again Mr. Vaughn. I'm bringing Avatia back home. They're coming back to NY? How did Draya pull that up? Really got to reward her for a job well done. I dialed her number and she picked up on the fourth ring."Mr. Vaughn?" She asked. For the first time, I enjoyed her voice. I was ecstatic hearing her voice. What more of when I finally get to see my Avatia. I can't believe I'm feeling all this joy again. I never knew I'll be this happy after Nevaeh's death.I tried my best not to sound too excited. Well I made myself sound as cold as she's used to. "I hope you've got positive news or else I'm coming ove...""Oh Mr. Vaughn, didn't you see my message?" She asked cautiously.
Avatia kept biting on her finger nails the entire plane ride. She kept staring out of the window. The jet seemed oddly familiar to her but that was the least of her problems. She was nervous. She was going to meet this guy whosoever he was and in all honesty, she wasn't even prepared to meet him. But Draya had assured her it was going to be just okay. She hoped it would be."I've already told you Ava, the guy won't hurt you despite what everyone says. He loves you, believe me. And if he hurts you, I'll take account for it." Draya reassured her, taking her best friend's hand in hers and placing a kiss on it. "I love you so much to endanger your life."Avatia who had been trying to hold the tears of fear in her eyes let them roll down as she turned and hugged Draya. "Thank you. Thank you so much Draya. In fairness, I wanted to leave that cottage. I wanted some air. Some space. And you've ju
WRITER'S POV"Welcome back, princess." Avatia heard the deep voice. She turned around to see the man who said it, and it caused her heart to leap a bit. The voice continuously echoed in her head, causing it to spin. All the portraits in the hall kept flashing before her eyes. Her head was pounding and she began hyperventilating. It was all too much for her. The voice in her head, the paintings, the face of the guy before her, all the people in the room and their hushed, voices it was too much. She pressed her palms on her temple to suppress the pain but nothing was working. She began to feel dizzy and the room started spinning. She heard the people around her call her name but it didn't feel real. Things began to become blurry and her attempted steps faltered. Beads of sweat started rolling down her face and the heat was becoming unbearable. What was happening? 'Avatia....' she heard, before eve
WRITER'S POVSaturday morning, the cafe was super busy with customers coming in, and some leaving, satisfied if I may add. But who Adam did not expect to see was Draya."Draya honey, you're back!" He exclaimed happily but in a low tone, causing the other workers and a few customers look his way. Oh, the sweet old man loved Draya. She was sweet, charming and chatty which always made his customers happy.Draya wrapped her arms around him, in a warm hug. "Oh Adam, I missed you and everyone else and this beautiful little cafe." She said as she waved to the other co-workers nearby. "Plus, I'm not the only one who's here."The old man furrowed his eyebrows. "I don't get it. I can see only you standing before me. Or are you a spirit now?"Draya chuckled. "Oh Adam, what's the polite way of saying 'fuck you' to an old man?"Adam pretended to think. "I think you'll say
WRITER'S POVAnd just like a miracle, that night, while Avatia tossed and tossed in her sleep, it came flashing through her mind. Everything. From the moment she flew from Ohio to New York, her employment in Adam's, to her loosing her job and getting a new one for her very strict boss and meeting Leo. LEO! Ohhh, poor Avatia was already wet from all her perspiration and she was having a restless sleep. The memories kept coming and soon, she wasn't able to breathe again. She tried and tried and finally ended up screaming and abruptly jerking up from her sleep, placing one palm on her forehead and the other on her chest.Draya who was in the next room in Dreidan's luxurious guest house hurried over to Avatia's room and was shocked to see her best friend in such a panicked state. Her protective instincts kicked in and she searched the room for any intruder, seeing none, she rushed to Avatia. "What's wro
WRITER'S POVDreidan canceled all his meetings for the day so he could be with his favorite girl. As usual, Avatia made him do things which he didn't want to do. Like going to the park, feeding birds, playing with little children. Avatia noticed that he actually enjoyed playing with little children and smiled at the thought of having children herself. What if she had children with him? That would be great. The children would be just as perfect as him. She smiled at the thought as both walked hand in hand to go get icecream."What's making you smile that way?" He asked looking at her in amusement.Oh poor Avatia blushed even more. How would she tell him she was thinking about having kids with him? He'll think she's rushing things. She had to play cool. She shook her head and looked away. "Its... Its nothing."Dreidan stopped walking and faced her. "You were blushing a while ago. If you do not tell me what made you blush, I'll tickle you right now till you
WRITER'S POVAnd tomorrow came pretty fast. Avatia was a nervous wreck. Draya even called Dreidan over so that he could make Avatia calm down but she just couldn't stop worrying. She knew how angry her mother was.Grace called Draya at 8:15 AM to set up the 'meeting' which was to take place at 9:30 in her house over breakfast."Calm down princess, everything's gonna be good." Dreidan said while kissing the back of her hand. She looked into his eyes. "What if she doesn't accept you? Us? You mean so much to me and I want her to give her blessings Dre."He kissed her rosy lips to ease her raging nerves. "I love you princess. That's all that matters. If she doesn't accept me, then I'll figure out our next move. But for now, we'll just cross our fingers and hope for the best. "
