Marissa Pov

“Get over yourself Alaric, not everything is about you” I said before continuing “I don't think you want a scandal Mr Monroe, stay away from me” I warned, walking away.

I couldn't believe this was the same man I fell in love with, seeing him bring back haunting memories, I grabbed a glass of champagne and down it.

“How dare you seduce Lucien” I heard a voice say, before I was pulled to face the person, as I turned I saw Clarissa, Prissy and Stella.

“I am not sure I know what you are talking about Prissy and I am sure you and Mr Alden are not familiar with each.” I said tauntly, I watched as her face turned red.

“Have a good evening, Ladies,” I said confidently, leaving them shocked. I didn't walk far before I felt prissy pull my hair, I grabbed her arm holding it tightly and smirked.

“Don't you think, you have come too far tonight Prissy” I asked, I watched as her face twitched in pain.

“ You bitch, I will have you arrested for this” she cursed with pain.

“it's about time you change your vocabulary, Prissy” I smirked but the small smile was wiped out of my face when Clarissa slapped me, I released Prissy due to the pain burning on my cheeks.

“How dare you put your filthy hand on my daughter, you don't belong here. You shameless bitch” Clarissa said raising her hands to slap, I had had enough of their mistreatment, I held Clarissa hand and dropped it harshly.

“You guys, do not know who you are dealing with” I said. I watched as Stella stands there enjoying the show display before her, like that day she stayed silent until people started to whisper again.

“Mother, I think you should stop now. I am sure what Prissy and mother are trying to say is that you don't belong here, this is a place of highly influential people Marissa’ she said softly but mockly.

“And how sure are you guys that you people belong here too?.” I retorted, standing my ground, I remember something making me smirked.

“ And Stella I met Alaric, it looks like he is still in love with me and we almost kissed” I said shamelessly, I smiled as Stella faced contour with anger, Clarissa mouth hung open and Prissy seething with anger too. I wanted to laugh loudly with the look on their faces but I kept a smug face.

“You guys should stop now, it is enough!” Alaric snapped angrily. I didn't hear him come behind me, I turned to him

“Tell them to stay away from me Alaric, l don't think you would like me to be the reason you losing that project of yours” I said softly but with threatening tone, I looked at him dead in the eye, I swallowed and my jaw tighten when I saw the engagement ring on Stella's finger. It was the exact ring in Alaric's office on his table days before our divorce. Bastard.

“But Alaric I saw with Lucien, I couldn't believe her…”Prissy said before Lucien's voice cut her off.

“Miss, I don't think we are on basics for you to call my name informally” we all turn to Lucien voice, Lucien stands there looking from Alaric, Stella, Prissy and Clarissa with murdering intent in his eyes. I almost laughed when Prissy,Stella and Clarissa unconsciously moved back.

Lucien eyes met with mine and soften, he walks to me and hugs, whispers ‘sorry, are you okay’

I hugged back as the answer that I am okay.

“Are you okay, do you know them?” Lucien asked, holding my face in his hand, acting like my lover.

My twin brother surely knew how to act, if we aren't the Alden heirs, he would surely be into acting. Playing along I nodded my head and buried my face in his chest.

I am sure that the Monroe family and Stella are shocked at the public affection display, even though I couldn't see their faces.

“Mr Monroe right” I heard Lucien called out for Alaric, he scoffed, stroking my hair.

I know what Lucien is thinking, he would say Alaric doesn't even worth a strand of my hair.

“Don't you people have any etiquette even if you all knew each other and had a history, are you not supposed to put aside your personal engagement in public, causing nuisance and bullying one woman, all of you” Lucien bellowed, I could feel the hatred he felt for them in his voice.

“But Lucien, this woman…” I heard a prissy voice but she stopped talking. I am sure Lucien is looking at her with a cold emotionless look in his eyes. I wish I could look at her face right now but my face is still buried in Lucien's chest.

“We are sorry for our behavior, Mr Alden” I heard Alaric apologize, I moved a little from Lucien.

“It is okay Lucien, let go I am tired” I assured him, holding his hand as we walked away.

“God, I would really kill them,” Lucien said.

I looked at him and smiled. I hugged him again, sniffed into his chest.

“Lucia are you okay, do you want to go home?” he asked as hugs me back, not caring about us in public. I know we will make headlines tomorrow, but right now we are enjoying our twins time.

“No, I am okay. I was thinking if I saw him tonight I could handle it. I wonder what Nova would think of me, do you think he would tell her that I am nothing but a whore?, do you think she would hate me or remember me at all?” I asked Lucien for confirmation.

“No. He wouldn't, he won't dare if he does, I will have him regret he was never born.” He reassured me, and I nodded.

“Stay at my side for the rest of tonight” he said.

Lucien and I was standing at the buffet, I was eating the cake, Lucien served me,

“Mr Alden,” Alaric called for Lucien, Lucien turned like a mother hen, immediately he heard Alaric's voice.

“Yes, Mr Monroe.” Lucien answered with a cold look on his face.

“I am sorry for the inconveniences and I apologized on the behalf of my family” Alaric said, facing Lucien ignoring my presence, but I smiled, eating my cake and then serving myself a new one.

“You didn't need to apologize to me, you should apologize to her instead. You insult my date, so does your family. I am sure you guys caused her not only physical trauma but emotional trauma, be glad she is kind hearted, I would have sued you for battery and defamation. But as a good woman she said no” Lucien said.

I looked at Lucien confused, I wasn't told that plan, but he looked at with a look we used to have when we about to do mischievous things as kids, I groan mentally, I am not prepared to face my ex husband again tonight, I had plan to avoid him and his family for the rest of the night.

“I am sorry, Marissa. I apologized on the behalf of my family” Alaric said. I looked up at him staring at me, I couldn't tell if the apology was sincere.

“It's okay, just…” I said before I was cut off by Lucien.

“It is Miss Marissa to you now, Mr Monroe. you aren't acquaintance anymore, so show respect to my date” Lucien coldly says

“Miss Marissa, I am deeply sorry” Alaric said, jaw clenched. I watched as tighten his jawline when Lucien offered to wipe my lips with the napkin like a lovesick fool. Does he still feel something for me, am I still important, I shake myself out of my thoughts.

“It is okay, Mr Monroe. Just tell them to avoid me and I will surely do the same for you guys” I said calmly, I looked into his eyes, my face void without emotion, cracking a little bit seeing there was no feeling for me in his eyes.

“Are you sure you like the apology, it doesn't seem sincere to me Marissa” Lucien said softly, I smiled nodded.

“It is fine, Lucien. Let's leave here, I don't want to be near him” I said curtly, wrapping my hands in Lucien arms.

“Excuse me, Mr Lucien. I would love to talk to you about the Cepheid city project. I have been trying to get to talk to you about it.” Alaric said but I am sure Lucien is not ready to listen to him.

“Oh, I don't think the project will be a success,” Lucien said rudely and pettily.

“Well, you haven't seen the plan. Mr Alden, let's hold a meeting and I will show you our success rate” Alaric said calmly, and that got Lucien's attention, something flash in Lucien's eyes.

“Well, meet the new CEO of the Alden group. I am now the COO. You just got yourself an exclusive news Mr Monroe” Lucien said pointing to me, I gasped, Alaric was shocked and so was I.
