The dispatch rider placed his hands on his mouth to prevent himself from shouting and directing the attention of the wolf to himself. Then, he immediately brought out his smartphone and sent a message of what was happening to the emergency line of the Greenwood Police Department (GPD).
Mr. Robert gave the wolf a hard blow on its face. This angered the wolf, and it growled loudly and used its claws to draw a deep line from his chest to his stomach. It cursorily looked at Catherine, who was already raining curses and crying bitterly before it ran away from the scene.
Mr. Robert started vomiting blood. He was also bleeding profusely from his chest to his stomach. Catherine ran to where her husband lay.
She didn't know what to do. The medical team and police officers were already around the corner, and she could hear the wailing of an ambulance siren.
'Hold on my love, you will be fine' she said to her husband while placing his head on her lap, with uncontrollable tears running down from her eyes to her cheeks as she stroked his hair.
Mr. Robert shook his head as tears fell from his eyes, disagreeing with what she said. He felt like it was the last time he would see his beloved, as the pain had become unbearable. He stretched out his hand to touch Catherine's hand and mouthed that he loved her.
'No, no we will get through this' she said loudly.
The ambulance and Greenwood Police Department arrived in a few seconds.
The medical team immediately brought out a stretcher to carry the injured Mr. Robert to the van, and Catherine followed as they drove him away to Greenwood General Hospital.
She got into the ambulance with them as she kept praying beneath her breath and speaking words of hope to her husband who had already given up on life.
Residents around the area could hear the wailing of sirens signifying something terrible had happened. They decided to come out to see what was happening.
'Is this not Mr. Robert's car?' an old woman asked as she moved closer to the car.
'Yes it is, do you know them personally?' A police officer who was detecting and jotting down what happened asked.
'No, not really but Mr. Robert and his wife are distinguished members of the community development committee. They have contributed a lot to the development of this community…' she paused when she saw blood on the other side of the road where the wolf attacked Mr. Robert. 'Tell me, what happened?'
'Well, we suspect this to be an animal attack, they were attacked on their way back from a date night. I guess, looking at the way Mrs. Robert dressed, it is obviously not from their workplace' he added.
'Hmmm, I remember someone wishing Mr. Robert a happy anniversary on his way to work this morning. I guess today is their wedding anniversary and they were probably on their way back from where they went to celebrate' She said and she nodded her head as she looked at one spot for a long time as if she could see what no one else is seeing.
'Hmm… thanks for your time ma. We will look into the case immediately' He said as he gave his colleague a signal for them to go back to the precinct.
They arrived at the hospital in a few minutes, and Mr. Robert was rushed into the theater room.
Catherine wasn't permitted to go into the theater room with them so she sat outside the room waiting impatiently.
A few minutes later, the nurses started coming out one by one. The doctor came out, removed his face mask, and shook his head.
'I'm sorry madam, we tried our best'.
She didn't want to believe it, the word kept echoing in her head. She ran into the theater room to verify if it was true.
As she got in, the nurses were already covering his face, getting ready to send his corpse to the morgue.
She cried out, 'No, no it can't be possible. This was not the plan, Robert this was never the plan'
She went closer to his corpse. 'No, remove it, he is still alive, he is still alive, my husband can't be dead. The possibly can't be'
'I'm sorry for your loss ma' A nurse said as she tried to console her and also stretched out her hands to hug her.
'Madam? madam?' Catherine had already lost consciousness and was oblivious to what was going on.
The shock had affected her mentally. The nurse noticed this and called on the doctor immediately.
She was moved away from the room to another one where she was given the required treatment to revive her consciousness.
The next morning, the whole citizens of Greenwood were already aware of what happened.
Every TV station broadcasted the incident, and everyone in the neighborhood felt sorry for the couple but they were also scared that the animal might still be out there to strike unannounced again.
The mayor of the city was also aware. He organized a press conference to inform the citizens around the street where the incident occurred not to be afraid that investigations are being carried out, and the police officers will be going on a hunt to look for the animal and make sure they get rid of it to restore peace to Greenwood city again.
Detective Sophia Richardson was the person in charge of the case. She is one of the best detectives in the city with track records of solving critical cases relating to homicides.
This also contributed to her divorce from her ex-husband, she passionately loves being in crime scenes solving murder cases rather than spending the night out on a romantic date.
'Get me the details of the man who placed a call to GPD!'
Detective Sophia started investigating the case with immediate effect. Her colleagues nicknamed her 'The Action Lady'. Her childhood was never easy. She was often bullied by her seniors in high school, grew up under an overbearing father who wanted her to be perfect, lost her mother at the age of 5, and had been in a few relationships that never worked out. The last one did, but they divorced due to her passion for her job, which kept her distant from her spouse. When she received the information at 4:00 pm that she was in charge of the case, she immediately called her partner, Luke Martins, and explained the situation to him.'Hey Luke, I understand you just took a week off but something just came up. You need to resume tomorrow' 'oh! Let me guess, the case of a couple that was attacked on the night of their anniversary?' Luke asked. 'Yes it is, let's meet at Greenwood Hospital tomorrow by 8 am. Meanwhile, I will look into the details of the person who placed the call that night
As Sophia and Luke drove down the street, they couldn't help but feel like they had stepped into a different world. The buildings on either side of the street were run-down and in disrepair, a stark contrast to the sleek skyscrapers and bustling streets of the rest of the city. The air was thick with the smell of garbage and the sounds of people shouting and cars honking. Groups of people were gathered on corners, their clothing and behavior marking them as out of place in the otherwise upscale city. They could see evidence of poverty and neglect everywhere, from the boarded-up windows to the graffiti covering the walls. Despite being surrounded by the bright lights and sophistication of the city, They felt like they were in a place that had been forgotten. It was as if this one street was a pocket of poverty and desperation, isolated from the rest of the world. As they continued down the street, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that they were an outsider in a place where they didn
Sophia arrived at the precinct, her mind racing with the details of the emergency call she had just received. A dead body had been found, and she was needed on the scene immediately. As she entered the precinct, she was greeted by a group of uniformed officers who were already assembled. They were discussing the details of the case, their voices filled with a sense of urgency. She approached them, eager to hear what they had learned so far.'A dedicated dispatch rider, who worked hard to deliver packages to those in need, was found to have passed away in a rural area. It appears that he was involved in a tragic incident with an animal while on his route.' One of the police officers informed her. 'Where was he found?' she had started guessing it might be Jason. 'At the woody area located around Flint Avenue' The blaring siren of an emergency call filled the air once again, causing officers in the precinct to rush towards the dispatch desk. The room was tense as they listened to the
'After its transformation, the creature wasted no time in unleashing its newfound power on Robert. It pounced with lightning speed, catching him off guard and leaving him defenseless against the brutal attack. In just a matter of minutes, my husband was left lying in a pool of blood, his body torn and mangled'Tears streamed down her face as she clutched at her wedding ring, a symbol of the love and commitment that she had shared with her husband. The ring felt small and insignificant in her trembling hand, a stark reminder of the enormity of the loss that she had just experienced.'I'm sorry about your loss Mrs. Robert' Luke said as he imagined how disheartening it would be if that kind of thing happened to jane. As she gazed outside the window, she couldn't help but wonder what other terrors lurked in the shadows, waiting to pounce on its victim. But even as she trembled with fear and uncertainty, she knew that she would never forget the love that she had shared with her husband, e
The evening sky hung heavy and dark over the deserted street, casting deep shadows over the lonely street of Greenwood. The street lamps flickered weakly, their light barely penetrating the gloom. Despite the danger, a few brave souls could be seen darting quickly between the buildings, their eyes darting nervously from side to side as they hurried home. Each person seemed to be walking with a sense of urgency as if they knew that the werewolf could strike at any moment. The evening setting was eerie, and it was clear that the street was no place for the faint of heart. With werewolf attacks happening frequently, it was a place where danger lurked around every corner and anyone who dared to venture out after dark did so at their own peril.Detective Sophia arrived home after a long day at work, looking forward to a quiet night in. As she opened the door, she saw her younger sister, Alex, sitting on the couch."Hey, sis!" Alex exclaimed, jumping up to give Sophia a hug. "I came to sur
The night before the third werewolf attack, Luke came back home feeling extremely tired and hungry, returned home at 6:30 pm to his lovely wife, Jane, who was whipping up a delectable dinner in the kitchen. As Luke entered his home, he was greeted by the familiar scent of his wife's cooking. The living room was tastefully decorated with a comfortable leather sofa, a bookshelf filled with books of various genres, and a framed photograph of the couple on their wedding day. The dining area was adjacent to the living room and was illuminated by a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Despite his intense hunger, Luke's stomach grumbled louder as the sweet aroma of the meal wafted through the air. The tantalizing smell was enough to draw him into the kitchen. "Good evening, my darling. What's cooking?" Luke inquired, slipping his arms around his wife's waist. "Welcome home, honey. I'm making tacos de Pescado. I just felt like trying something new today," Jane replied, turning on the tap t
Sophia was already on her way home after her discussion with Luke at the third werewolf attack crime scene. She kept pondering on what he told her and this reminded her about Edward, her ex-husband, the scene about their last argument immediately flashed into her memory. They had planned to go on a dinner night to celebrate his birthday but she ended up not showing up due to a case she was handling at that time. Sophia could still recall the hurt in Edward's eyes when she called him to cancel their dinner plans. It was the third time in a row that she had missed an important occasion with him. Sophia was a detective and she had to handle a lot of cases that took up most of her time. However, this was no excuse for the pain she caused Edward. That night, after canceling on him, Sophia got caught up in the case and didn't get home until the early hours of the morning. When she walked into their bedroom, she found Edward awake, sitting on the bed with a glass of whiskey in his hand
Sophia woke up early the next morning to find her sister, Alex, still asleep on the couch. She could tell that Alex had a rough night - Alex's face was pale and sweaty. Sophia felt a knot in her stomach as she realized that something was wrong. She knew that Alex had been going through a tough time with her boyfriend, but she didn't realize how much pain her sister was in. "What made you drink that much yesterday?" Sophia asked gently. Alex groaned and buried her face in a pillow. "Nothing serious sis," she mumbled. Sophia wasn't convinced. She knew her sister too well. "Alex, please tell me what's going on. You can talk to me about anything." Alex hesitated for a moment, then sat up slowly. She rubbed her temples and took a deep breath. "It's Mike. He broke up with me." Sophia felt her heart sink. She had always liked Mike and she once thought he was better than all the guys her sister had been with, but now she was starting to see him in a different light. "Oh Alex, I'm so sorr
