Detective Sophia started investigating the case with immediate effect. Her colleagues nicknamed her 'The Action Lady'.
Her childhood was never easy. She was often bullied by her seniors in high school, grew up under an overbearing father who wanted her to be perfect, lost her mother at the age of 5, and had been in a few relationships that never worked out. The last one did, but they divorced due to her passion for her job, which kept her distant from her spouse.
When she received the information at 4:00 pm that she was in charge of the case, she immediately called her partner, Luke Martins, and explained the situation to him.
'Hey Luke, I understand you just took a week off but something just came up. You need to resume tomorrow'
'oh! Let me guess, the case of a couple that was attacked on the night of their anniversary?' Luke asked.
'Yes it is, let's meet at Greenwood Hospital tomorrow by 8 am. Meanwhile, I will look into the details of the person who placed the call that night right now'
'Alright, I will. See you tomorrow boss'
'See you tomorrow' she ended the call.
She was about to leave the precinct when she received the information, but, decided to stay back a little to look into a few things before leaving.
After looking into a few files brought to her concerning the case, she decided to go home to rest so she will be active the next day.
The city was just starting to stir, the hum of early morning activity filling the air. Cars honked in the distance and people bustled about, going about their daily routines. Despite what happened the night before, the people had no choice but to go on with their life, they forced themselves to believe that everything is alright and nothing like that can happen again.
As the sun began to rise, Sophia was already up and out of bed, lacing up her running shoes and hitting the pavement. She ran at a steady pace, her mind focused on the day ahead and the case she was currently working on. Her morning run was a time for her to clear her thoughts and mentally prepare herself for the challenges ahead.
After her run, Sophia showered, dressed in her favorite suit, and headed to the Greenwood General Hospital where she was supposed to meet with her partner, Luke. Luke was already there waiting for her in the cafeteria located at the hospital's entrance.
'Hmm… You arrived a bit earlier than expected' she chuckled as she sat down on the empty seat opposite Luke.
'A good morning would have been better you know?' he grinned as he shook his head. 'I had to find ways to appease Jessy, because she was already making plans for our trip to Paris when your call came in'
'Awnn… I'm so sorry about that. So tell me more, Mr. Romantico, what did you appease her with?' Sophia blushed as she winked at him.
'No, No I'm not telling you more than that. Let's go to work Action lady' He said as he stood up trying to avoid her early morning banter.
'Alright, let's go see how Mrs. Catherine is and get some information from her concerning what she saw'
They asked a nurse who was passing by to direct them to where Mrs. Catherine was receiving treatment.
As Sophia walked into the hospital room, she was struck by the sterile and clinical atmosphere. The walls were painted a bland shade of beige and the tile flooring gleamed under the fluorescent lights.
In the center of the room stood a hospital bed, complete with metal rails and a collection of wires and tubes leading to a variety of medical equipment. A bedside table held a monitor that beeped in time with the patient's heartbeat, and a stack of medical charts sat next to it.
Despite the clinical atmosphere, there were a few touches of home in the room. A small vase of flowers sat on the windowsill, bringing a touch of color and life to the otherwise sterile environment. On a nearby table, there was a stack of magazines and a book, offering the patient something to do during their stay.
As Sophia approached the bed, she noticed that the curtains were drawn, blocking out the bustling hospital environment outside. A soft light shone from a lamp next to the bed, casting a warm glow over Catherine's face.
She was struck by the sight of Catherine lying there, her eyes open but unseeing. Her gaze was fixed, her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling, and Sophia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
Catherine was hooked up to a variety of machines, the beeps, and whirs filling the room with a constant hum of activity. Her chest rose and fell with each breath, but otherwise, she was still, her body unresponsive.
Sophia took a step closer, peering into Catherine's open eyes. They were cloudy and distant as if she was lost in a world of her own. The effect was unsettling, and Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that she was looking into the face of someone who was already gone.
Catherine's skin was pale and her hair was a tangled mess, and Sophia couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness for the life that was now lying still before her. Despite the medical equipment and the hospital room, there was a sense of intimacy to the moment, as if Sophia was the only one who could reach out and touch her, bringing her back to the world of the living.
She glanced at her partner who was standing on the other side of the bed then at Catherine.
"Mrs. Robert? I am Detective Sophia Richardson and I want to help you out. I understand it has not been easy for you upon hearing about the death of your husband, but with your help, I believe I will be able to help you take down the monster that did this to your husband" she believes that Catherine can hear her even if it appears she was out of this world.
'She had been like that since she heard the news of her husband's death, not wanting to talk to anyone' A nurse who came in to check on her said.
'Hmmm… But is she responding to treatment?'
'Yes, she will become conscious before the week runs out hopefully' She said she wrote some things on the file she held in her hand.
'Alright, please give me a call on this number once she wakes up' she quickly wrote her number on a piece of paper and gave it to the nurse.
'I will'
'Thank you' she said as she left the room with her partner.
'What do we do next, action lady?' Luke said as he opened the door for Sophia.
'Let's pay a visit to the guy who made the call that night. I am sure he has something to tell us, and I was able to get his personal information' she said as they made their way to Sophia's car which was parked at a nearby parking garage.
As she got into the car, she brought out the file which she looked into the night before.
'Ahh, yes, this is it, The dispatch rider for Gaby Pizza lives at Gregory Crescent with his Mum'
She returned the file to her bag, tightened her seatbelt, and zoomed off to Gregory Crescent.
As Sophia and Luke drove down the street, they couldn't help but feel like they had stepped into a different world. The buildings on either side of the street were run-down and in disrepair, a stark contrast to the sleek skyscrapers and bustling streets of the rest of the city. The air was thick with the smell of garbage and the sounds of people shouting and cars honking. Groups of people were gathered on corners, their clothing and behavior marking them as out of place in the otherwise upscale city. They could see evidence of poverty and neglect everywhere, from the boarded-up windows to the graffiti covering the walls. Despite being surrounded by the bright lights and sophistication of the city, They felt like they were in a place that had been forgotten. It was as if this one street was a pocket of poverty and desperation, isolated from the rest of the world. As they continued down the street, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that they were an outsider in a place where they didn
Sophia arrived at the precinct, her mind racing with the details of the emergency call she had just received. A dead body had been found, and she was needed on the scene immediately. As she entered the precinct, she was greeted by a group of uniformed officers who were already assembled. They were discussing the details of the case, their voices filled with a sense of urgency. She approached them, eager to hear what they had learned so far.'A dedicated dispatch rider, who worked hard to deliver packages to those in need, was found to have passed away in a rural area. It appears that he was involved in a tragic incident with an animal while on his route.' One of the police officers informed her. 'Where was he found?' she had started guessing it might be Jason. 'At the woody area located around Flint Avenue' The blaring siren of an emergency call filled the air once again, causing officers in the precinct to rush towards the dispatch desk. The room was tense as they listened to the
'After its transformation, the creature wasted no time in unleashing its newfound power on Robert. It pounced with lightning speed, catching him off guard and leaving him defenseless against the brutal attack. In just a matter of minutes, my husband was left lying in a pool of blood, his body torn and mangled'Tears streamed down her face as she clutched at her wedding ring, a symbol of the love and commitment that she had shared with her husband. The ring felt small and insignificant in her trembling hand, a stark reminder of the enormity of the loss that she had just experienced.'I'm sorry about your loss Mrs. Robert' Luke said as he imagined how disheartening it would be if that kind of thing happened to jane. As she gazed outside the window, she couldn't help but wonder what other terrors lurked in the shadows, waiting to pounce on its victim. But even as she trembled with fear and uncertainty, she knew that she would never forget the love that she had shared with her husband, e
The evening sky hung heavy and dark over the deserted street, casting deep shadows over the lonely street of Greenwood. The street lamps flickered weakly, their light barely penetrating the gloom. Despite the danger, a few brave souls could be seen darting quickly between the buildings, their eyes darting nervously from side to side as they hurried home. Each person seemed to be walking with a sense of urgency as if they knew that the werewolf could strike at any moment. The evening setting was eerie, and it was clear that the street was no place for the faint of heart. With werewolf attacks happening frequently, it was a place where danger lurked around every corner and anyone who dared to venture out after dark did so at their own peril.Detective Sophia arrived home after a long day at work, looking forward to a quiet night in. As she opened the door, she saw her younger sister, Alex, sitting on the couch."Hey, sis!" Alex exclaimed, jumping up to give Sophia a hug. "I came to sur
The night before the third werewolf attack, Luke came back home feeling extremely tired and hungry, returned home at 6:30 pm to his lovely wife, Jane, who was whipping up a delectable dinner in the kitchen. As Luke entered his home, he was greeted by the familiar scent of his wife's cooking. The living room was tastefully decorated with a comfortable leather sofa, a bookshelf filled with books of various genres, and a framed photograph of the couple on their wedding day. The dining area was adjacent to the living room and was illuminated by a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Despite his intense hunger, Luke's stomach grumbled louder as the sweet aroma of the meal wafted through the air. The tantalizing smell was enough to draw him into the kitchen. "Good evening, my darling. What's cooking?" Luke inquired, slipping his arms around his wife's waist. "Welcome home, honey. I'm making tacos de Pescado. I just felt like trying something new today," Jane replied, turning on the tap t
Sophia was already on her way home after her discussion with Luke at the third werewolf attack crime scene. She kept pondering on what he told her and this reminded her about Edward, her ex-husband, the scene about their last argument immediately flashed into her memory. They had planned to go on a dinner night to celebrate his birthday but she ended up not showing up due to a case she was handling at that time. Sophia could still recall the hurt in Edward's eyes when she called him to cancel their dinner plans. It was the third time in a row that she had missed an important occasion with him. Sophia was a detective and she had to handle a lot of cases that took up most of her time. However, this was no excuse for the pain she caused Edward. That night, after canceling on him, Sophia got caught up in the case and didn't get home until the early hours of the morning. When she walked into their bedroom, she found Edward awake, sitting on the bed with a glass of whiskey in his hand
Sophia woke up early the next morning to find her sister, Alex, still asleep on the couch. She could tell that Alex had a rough night - Alex's face was pale and sweaty. Sophia felt a knot in her stomach as she realized that something was wrong. She knew that Alex had been going through a tough time with her boyfriend, but she didn't realize how much pain her sister was in. "What made you drink that much yesterday?" Sophia asked gently. Alex groaned and buried her face in a pillow. "Nothing serious sis," she mumbled. Sophia wasn't convinced. She knew her sister too well. "Alex, please tell me what's going on. You can talk to me about anything." Alex hesitated for a moment, then sat up slowly. She rubbed her temples and took a deep breath. "It's Mike. He broke up with me." Sophia felt her heart sink. She had always liked Mike and she once thought he was better than all the guys her sister had been with, but now she was starting to see him in a different light. "Oh Alex, I'm so sorr
(Greenwood City, 1879) Damien Kendrick, a Laboratory scientist who is fascinated and obsessed about creating something that he will be remembered for, sat in his office with his best friend, Matt Davis. They were discussing their latest project, hoping to create something that would revolutionize warfare. As they brainstormed, Damien had a sudden idea. "What if we could create a serum that would make soldiers immune to bullets?" he said, looking at Matt with excitement. Matt was skeptical. "That sounds impossible, Damien. How could we even start to create something like that?" But Damien was undeterred. He spent long hours in the lab, working on various compounds and formulations. One day, after months of hard work, he finally created a serum that would create a force field around the body, disrupting the conductivity of metal. Excited by their breakthrough, they presented their findings to the military, who were eager to incorporate the serum into their arsenal. They dubbed it t
